"The submitter, 2nd and 3rd replier all joined Digg yesterday, and have Dugg and commented on one story...WHAT A COINCIDENCE!"
I rest my case on the credibility of the submitter/author.
- Bara, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Meh, using Wikipedia as a content source? Considering that site is/was #1 (or #2, if you somehow did surpass it) for a search for "red steel" then wouldn't the user already know everything by the time they get to your site, considering all you're doing is rehashing content? If you want the user to stick around more than just a quick glance, you'll need to get unique content, otherwise they'll see it's just the same info as the previous site and move on.
- Zipp425, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5The point of niche minisites isnt to keep users coming.
Its to get as many users as you can.

- daverh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The only information that would be useful, is not included. (how to build links to the site now that you've set it up) but I don't blame you for not wanting to give away your secrets :)
- violentvinyl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree, I said so about the first article too, but all that said, it's still fairly informative, especially for those of us who are interested in marketing our sites a little more aggressively (content or not). At least he's not trying to sell you something on top of that (although, I'm sure all the clicks to redsteel.co.uk aren't hurting him either).
- IanRReardon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Maybe this peice should be renamed how to spam/ruin a search engine.
What value does rewritten wikipedia content have to ANYONE other then making you money off adwords.
Why are people even digging this up?- congruence, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"Maybe this peice should be renamed how to spam/ruin a search engine."
And a news site.
"What value does rewritten wikipedia content have to ANYONE other then making you money off adwords."
Don't matter, long as I git mine.
Aim high, and you too can become an affiliate marketing parasite!

- leodavinci, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It is still offering good content, whether it is rehashed from Wikipedia or not. From the search engines stand point, it is still giving relevant information to the user. And the user is still getting what he wants, some basic info about the game and where to buy it.
- IanRReardon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Its only good content to the search engine because you had to f-ing rewrite the same ***** that was already in wikipedia just to get AROUND the search engine filters. Thats like saying its ok to cheat on a test if you don't get caught, because the end result of working hard, and cheating, is still getting a good grade.
- Padwah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's not really good content though is it? It's just re-hashed content from wikipedia, which whilst informative is often rather light on substance and is only there to be picked up by search engines to try and make the owner some money. If I was actually looking for information on Red Steel then I'd be rather annoyed at ending up on a page which has more adverts that content and doesn't tell me anything more than the official site, in fact it probably tells me less.
It's crap sites like this cluttering up the web that are making finding relevant search results a pain in the arse just to try and raise a few page views on their, copious, google adwords. The only point of this article, and its posting on Digg, is a lame attempt to try and drive more traffic to the site and raise it's page rank as currently it's not even in the top five pages of google.

- bootlick, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@ Bara - unique content isn't important. The object of these niche minisites is giving users enough content to keep them at the site long enough to earn a sale/ad conversion.
@ daverh - link building posts will come soon :) - WeeklyGeek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Kind of dishonest way to make a buck, in my opinion. You are offering rehashed content about a product that you just plain don't care about. So essentially you are hoping on fooling people to come to your site and click on links.
That's just bad karma.- Zipp425, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Welcome to the world of niche marketing.
- violentvinyl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, that's marketing in general for you, it makes it easier if you care about the product, but generally your bottom line isn't affected either way. Generally speaking.
- Zipp425, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Here is a fairly similar guide that makes it easier for all the none tech savvy people...
