- theone2Punch, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2a brush is simply an image that you can repeat over and over easily using the brush engine. For some of the more detailed brushes, they have no real advantage over simply finding a similar image and masking it in with the exception that they are already masked for you. They are good for adding textures to your artwork and using the simpler brushes you can make bubble effects (http://www.worth1000.com/tutorial.asp?sid=161173) by changing some settings in the brush engines. I find that i make my own custom brushes specifically for the project I'm working on and that seems to be fine for me. The problem is people downloadnig these things and randomly using them thinking they are creating "art" when really a focus more on technique than tools is needed...
