I stared at your post for 30 seconds but couldn't find any illusion of it being any good. - johnsadowski, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21I can't believe this got dugg again...
Oh well... I don't mind really! - Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I know it's kind of an old trick, but the way the guy implements the rollover image makes it a lot better than other stuff I've seen
- seventoes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9This works with any image too. First take a negative of the image, then remove all color from the original image, and you will get the same effect by looking at the negative and then the b&w.
- roosterjm2k2, on 10/12/2007, -8/+14Well, im new. I havent seen it. Its new to me...isnt that the point of dig, to spread interesting stuff around?
- baronvonrolo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This is has been posted before i think, but it's still brilliant, and it's cool that the bloke who made it is on digg too.
Dugg. - Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yep, but this is done so well :)
And, the guy includes a tutorial on how to do it in Photoshop, so feel free to substitute your own pictures with the trick.........impress your friends - kenflannery, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8so someone posted it again - if someone puts a cheeseburger in front of you will you not eat it having had a cheeseburger before? Cheeseburgers are good, and so is freaking out my eyes.
- ggore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Lame", "Dupe", "Gay", etc etc...... Terms used by people wanting to seem "cool" and who like to waste space in this comments section and other people's time getting past their comments to get at the more intelligent remarks related to the article or post at hand. What they hopefully don't realize is that those terms are highly likely to result in their comments on ANY article posted on Digg being BLOCKED and never again being seen by me and anyone else who is tired of this juvenile behavior.
- danjal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6not if it was vomited out and served to you again...
- jellyroll713, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Site's fine. You're probably hammered.
- gd007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3this is cool!
- jasyn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4... until ur host turns off the pipe for excessive bandwidth utilization. ;)
cool illusion. at first i thought it *was* color. blink blink - McMultiverse, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9I went back and counted ... this is the NINTH time this has been dugg to the front page. I think eight was enough. No digg, marked as dupe. This is a news aggregation site, not Pimp My Optical Illusionist.
- procdaddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This was old before the first time I saw it on digg. *Bookmarks to post again in 2 weeks*
- dizzley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's really great John, but digg just gives me deja vu these days. Isn't there anything to stop these things boomeranging back to the front page like some er... boomerang?
- forgiste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The reason dupes are a bad thing is most of the time the website can't take 2 diggs especially within a month. Some people have hosting plans that only allow for a specific amount of data transfer per month, and if it's exceeded, the site goes down until next month. This is obviously not a good thing for website owners. So please, stop trying to be "open minded" about dupes. They are not a good thing, no matter what you say.
There are, of course, those people who just bitch about dupes to have something to say.
neat trick, though. - johnsadowski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually I magically have unlimited bandwidth.
- Surefoot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's great to see that the same illusion, using the same picture even, still works after all this time!
- musicbear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1While it would be nice to have some sort of dupe "redirector", things returning to the front page with a lot of diggs just means a lot of folk missed it the first times around (and that's easy to do - I've never seen this on the front page, and I check the front page(s) every day) and new folk are grooving on it. Instead of wasting everyone's time with "dupe" posts, IGNORE IT!, but since that's not easy to do for our most negative and quick to post commentors out there then, surely we need a way to mark it as a duplicate, have a way to redirect to a category of "recurring" favorites, and perhaps once marked duplicate enough times, it will move it off the front page and not allow comments, but instead just redirect to the common link(s).
I think we should have a button to eliminate posts that say nothing but "dupe" or "old" as well, that way we could clear out half the clutter of the comments. At the birth of digg these were helpful, now they aren't as digg now has a much larger audience and many more stories moving through a lot faster. "Dupe" comments are just as unhelpful as dupe post are. - GravitySpec, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3and for some people... it's the first time!
If you've seen it before... move along... there is nothing to see here then. - alej744, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can tell you're new because you spelled digg wrong... loser
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Honestly, I don't know why I didn't get any kind of dupe notice about this. Now that I look at it, this story was on the front page 3 weeks ago, and it was the exact same URL.
- iFelix, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5It's back...
- danjal, on 10/12/2007, -8/+7i agree, this has been dig three times now...
- GravitySpec, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1http://www.duggmirror.com/design/Amazing_optical_illusion_try_it/
Site got hammered..
pretty cool trick ... :D - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The irony of someone mocking a person for a negative comment with a.... negative comment just made me poop in my pants.
- Nameless1, on 10/12/2007, -13/+10OLD OLD OLD OMG SO OLD IT HURTS.
(I realy wanted to sound like an average internet user :) - bigredgpk, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2If it's a dupe, mark it as a dupe... it's just that simple...
- primary0, on 10/12/2007, -11/+7god damn. most of us are REGULARs here. why cant people stop posting these stupid dupes all over again.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -9/+5Oh, hey, didn't know the creator was on Digg! Great work, John!
- iFelix, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5Certainly spread interesting stuff around, spread the same stuff around again and again that becomes less interesting.
- epu2, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4no, really??
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3replace the word OLD with PORN and you will.
- john570, on 10/12/2007, -14/+6And you are a moron.
- roosterjm2k2, on 10/12/2007, -13/+5Yet you still felt the need to comment....how sad.
- modarius, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2It's already been on digg.
- AdamSnow, on 10/12/2007, -35/+1That doesn't impress me at all...
