- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+40The man's accent, though initially disturbing, made me feel very comforted.
=] - ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30It didn't say anywhere that it wasn't free....
- Tredici, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25Yeah, me too. I just wish my days were eventful enough to actually make use of it =[
- Celeron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Interesting, first time I heard an Indian voice used to promote a product such as this.
- ThomasLeeIV, on 10/12/2007, -10/+31Some of us aren't watching the digg homepage every waking second of the day. Stuff reaches and leaves the homepage too quickly to be able to catch everything. You would be a much more efficient "dupe patroler" if you'd use the report feature, rather than copy and paste the comment. You could improve your "dupe report rate" to 22.5/minute rather than only 12.67. Keep up the hard, productive work.
- cphuntington97, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17I don't think your feelings have anything to do with the speaker's accent. I think they are a result of the speaker's cool and comfortable vocal demeanor, as opposed to the "sunday Sunday SUNDAY!!!! It's HUUUUUUGE!" kind of promotional voice we are so used to.
- bsonline, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21Now, if only Google would buy iscrybe so it would be free...
- mikesherov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17This app makes me jealous in how easy and user friendly it looks. I'll just stop developing web apps now...
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Looks great. I liked the "PaperSync" spin on it. Made me curious if any other ("real") sync features are going to be there... like iCal, etc. But maybe paper would be enough.
- tainedhero, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17I cant even think of a comment to shoot you down with.
Your sheer stupidity does it for me. - realnebby, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18Amazing if it actually does what the video shows. I'm interested to see how the offline functionality works.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15as an Indian myself - when i started watching the video the first thing that i thought of was "oh great an Indian accent, everyone is gonna rip on this guy in the digg comments." but i am happy to see that i was wrong. not one person so far talked ***** like some immature cultureless people i've come across. this really shows that digg has pretty intellectual members on their site.
- tehJR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I want Google to buy it so it so Gmail and gCal will have those features
- Saiing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Brilliant. Not only do you waste everyone's time with your moronic dupe report, but you actually failed to notice that someone reported it before you (and also got flamed).
You managed to dupe the dupe report. Don't you look dumb now eh? - rufus001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Because they've got it right. What else is there to say?
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Yeah, i felt the same way.
There's a few people with similar accents on the new show Heroes, which I find pretty nice as well. - HonoredMule, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Because diggers are socially conditioned to be derisive and negative, but they're drawing a blank, and actually really liking it. However, they're unaccustomed to praising content, especially in detailed manner.
You could take this as a commentary on diggers, x-or digg itself.
I for one am joyed to see a truly intelligent, well-designed interface, and some effort being put into portable application rather than stupid online services. - phlux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10People balk at what web 2.0 is about - Skrybe is certainly it.
There is a web 2.0 and its about beautiful useability. That was sweet.
What is also amazing was the auto layouts. They should separate that engine out alone and attach it to Django for a w'onderful publication engine. - warbird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It is also unreleased beta... Definitely web 2.0
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Your ability to pick up sarcasm is amazing!
- le0pard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Wow this looks amazing. I can't wait to see it in real use!
- SeanFL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Google, hire these people. Pay them lots of money and incorporate their progress...this looks sharp.
- djepik, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11stfu nobody cares. I didn't see it before. Now I did. I'm glad it was up twice.
- light50, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Amazing indeed. Will make Portable Firefox a lot more versatile.
- Pancake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4/me stands and begins a slow clap, eyes misty and filled with joy
- Sferrero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Wow.
- centinall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3When I was a JavaOne last year, they had a seminar about offline html applications. To be honest, there wasn't much of an explaination. But the gave a couple of ways this can be done. All of these methods were to use setting expiration times for caching way beyond the current time. This would make the browser cache the html/js/etc so it would be available while not being connected to the internet.
1) Embed a invisible flash application that can read and write data through the use of javascript. This flash application could cache data to be retrieved in an offline mode.
2) Same as 1 but using an invisible Java Applet.
3) Probably the most interesting method. They said that you can actually write and store information on the computer's harddrive using JavaScript. No, not Java, but JavaScript. They said the only problem with this is that you're limited in how much you can write. And they made clear that they weren't talking about storing this in cookies.
I'm just repeating what I heard and really have no idea about any of these methods, but I would be interested in hearing more if anyone has any input. - aCiD2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Very impressive, looking forward to a beta account :)
Here is another video about Scrybe http://youtube.com/watch?v=Mr1YE_xS_n8 - SgtBeavis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3After watching the video, registering for the beta is simply a no brainer. I could see these guys being scooped up by Google, gmail integration added, and Outlook looking out for its back.
VERY nicely done presentation too. Props to the narrator :-) - steal_apps01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It seems like Google Notepad, iCal & PocketMod all rolled into one.
- videoCT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3does it handle e-mail?
does it offer you e-mail reminders of events or a page at a glance/week at a glance?
does it have contacts/address book? some outlook functionality would eliminate the need to shuffle programs.
looks very cool however.
I have carried in my wallet for 10 years a piece of paper with all of my important phone numbers printed in teeny-tiny font. - Praxibetel1x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I will finally be able to keep all of the time I spend sitting on my ass in order... :p
- Quavistar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Finally, someone gets it rights! I'm on this!
- sovereign3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The preview:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=1u3ekzwnYxw
I'm just hoping for other "syncing" options. Though the print-out option is pretty interesting. - rufus001, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4What a fantastic idea! I love the way it syncs with paper. lol.
- bmc2010, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, this looks amazing and I will be keeping track of the development process, as well as getting involved in the betas.
- xfTwitch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2GIMME NOW!!!
- sstacks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Definitely impressive.
- Quiplash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow does this sound promising.
- CanceledCzech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is pretty awesome. Not sure if anyone noticed this, but he misspelled the word "appointment" as "appointemnt". Just something I thought was kind of funny.
- AhrenBa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Cool! Thanks for finding this! I really want to try it out. It looks really easy to use. +digg
- rdigidr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Definitely a mark above the rest! MS Outlook beware or better yet buy it before others do...
Would also be a good buy for yahoo since their mail program is still in beta and they need a calendar, tasks, and notes update along with their email beta.
Would be interesting to also see how this can fit into Mobile devices. This guys screen resolution is pretty big...mobile compatibility without loss of the "context" would be key to this success as well. - deanau, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2All it needs to be totally awesome is iSync type capbality (with handheld devices)
- searayman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1paper synch will be helpful so i can bring my calender to school, and add stuff to remind me to add online.
- brandonmuth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The demo looks great. It will be interesting to see how useful it really is.
- mbadolato, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That was one seriously impressive demo. Looking forward to trying it out.
- TurtleBeoulve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Another inovation that I haven't seen done and hope it will be in this would be a time released RSS feed of your schedule for that day.
- ThomasLeeIV, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The problem is, people don't go to Digg, and go straight to page 2. Most of them probably look at the homepage first, then stuff their friends have dugg. If you're a constant digger, you probably go into the queue and digg anything that looks interesting, so you don't know if its a duplicate. I think the responsibility is on digg to highlight stuff that might be a duplicate if it's linking to the exact same site. I don't care who/when it was submitted as long as something new or important makes the homepage so others can learn about it.
- BangoSkank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very impressive. If it could do a real sync, I would sign up.
