- JudgeMonkey, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2I guess they didn't have a camera to take a picture of the camera.
- lolcat23, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1nono, it leaves the question open you see. "more like an eye then ----" and then add what you want. i added "ketchup" cause its both more like an eye then ketchup is like an eye, and its also more like an eye then its like ketchup
- Nature1, on 08/08/2008, -1/+1I wish Illinois would stop spending so much money and time on surveillance to put more people in jail...
Eh, whatever, though, I saw this on the news, it wasn't so exciting. Just a round camera. - PhilMoskowitz, on 08/07/2008, -2/+1Nothing more enjoyable than an article about optics and imagery without any pictures whatsoever.
- FUR10N, on 08/07/2008, -2/+0how are they not going to show an image of it, that's the only reason i clicked the link.
- Dday141, on 08/07/2008, -2/+0Boo!
- Icetype, on 08/07/2008, -2/+0no picture, bury.
- ozydingo, on 08/07/2008, -2/+0So...the only thing eye-like about the camera is that it uses a curved surface instead of a flat one? Hardly the top of the bio-inspired / neuromorphic list of technology being developed today.
- JoshDaFink, on 08/07/2008, -2/+0Someone working on this project at the University of Illinois spoke to my class.
From what he said, the real innovation (and why it's compared to a human eye) is not because of the curved screen but rather because of the novel object and feature recognition algorithms used during image processing. Seems the article missed that? - Spetz, on 08/07/2008, -2/+0Camera still won't replicate what humans actually see. You can make a camera with a better lens than the eye, better dynamic range, better in every physical performance metric but it still will not be as good as the eye. Why? Because no image processing can the brain.
- podforpeace, on 08/07/2008, -2/+0What's with all the 0 diggs? This is old news though. Olympus has one up and coming too.
Can't wait to bring my image borderless for real. - afireinside13t, on 08/07/2008, -2/+0Curved detector? So long Petzval curvature! I was wondering who would be the first to do this.
- inactive, on 08/07/2008, -3/+0Old news already.
- leerayIG88, on 08/07/2008, -3/+0***** you, two of my friends died when walking home from school.
- rahulkolasseri, on 08/07/2008, -3/+0repost! on the same hours too!
