- joaob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+25This tutorial has been around for awhile.....with this same girl and these same steps.
why do people insist on taking credit for the work of others? - Yoshi39, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14No offense to who ever did this but about half way through she looked the best after that she started to look more and more like a painting
- ahawks, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12You know, it's just not fair to have a username like "LeggyRedhead" and not have any links/pictures in your profile.
- emanggid, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14
very nice tutorial with some neat tricks; like the high pass for sharpening.... now he just needs to slam a little liquify filter to make the chest dolly parton-ized (wait maybe not)...... and we have our stereotypical impossibly beautiful model who makes girls hate themselves.
. - warnerrr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13I would ask someone to post a mirror, but then girls everywhere would look into it and see themselves as flawed thanks to airbrushing techniques used today.
- LeggyRedHead, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10A simple search on Google produced the following thread in a forum...sounds like the same tutorial to me, but then again, I can't view the original..so who knows? lol
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=171753 - stargatesteve, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10yes, but imagine the amount of storage space it would take to mirror the internet.
- badjoke, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9You can always edit the tutorial based on your needs. If you want more texture in the skin, you can turn down the opacity of the mask to let it shine through a bit.

That's what happens when you don't error trap your DB work. - CalipsoII, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Would it be too much to ask for Kevin and the Digg team to work with the Duggmirror guys in getting a valid mirror of all submitted stories, regardless if they get promoted or not?
- Mejogid, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9For the last time:
Comments ≠hits, diggs ≠hits. Also, if you have an attention span of more than 10 seconds you'll see that it is still loading slowly. - totorototoro, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10i like how the technique transformed a Wicked Weasel natural skank into a Maxim airbrushed skank. :P
- totorototoro, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5what if its Bill Walton? :p
- Terminator1138, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9rule number one, don't promote yourself if you cannot handle the digg effect.....
- nihil, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Good tutorial (even if its been posted before) though in the final pic the model's forehead looks a little too creamy smooth, not realistic.
- totorototoro, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4LeggyRedHead, that is the same tutorial..or at least, its by the same guy.
- canuq, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6Mirror:
http://canuq.com/digg/adobe-tutorial - RadicalEdward, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6i saw this exact tutorial with the same girl over a year ago
- thekak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Yikes... fade entire application 50% and maybe it looks good. Do people not understand they are making Barbie dolls when they over-do it? Jeesus.
- blanktarget, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Always great to see how other people go about airbrushing, pretty similar to how I do it.
- thekak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Also, add some noise to the blurred skin tone to at least give it some texture and look decently real.
- fantasyflamz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4This stinks, on the mirror I can't even see pictures... i can see everything else but the pics (and that's important!, lol). I guess I'll just have to wait for the digg effect to die down.
- alceria, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Overdone. I try to make people look good, not plastic. It also bothers me that her face is a completely different shade from the rest of her skin now...it makes it look like she's wearing the wrong color make-up.
- s0nicfreak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Personally I would've just gotten rid of the cheek lines to make her look a bit younger and left it at that. But I guess it's a rarity nowadays to prefer people that look like people instead of realdolls (not that I'm putting down realdolls...).
- n2deep, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'd do her
- binorgog, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2I dont' care about Photoshop, i dont' have the time to learn it. I wish there was a site or service where you could send them the shot you want doctored, pay them, and get back the new nice version. Would be great for family photos, etc that are treasures, but maybe the family doesn't look the "best". If anyone knows of a site like that could the post it. thanks!
- Synematic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yes, now everyone in my photos can look like a playboy playmate.
- kindrobot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Good tip! Thanks.
- kindrobot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This is VERY useful, but the end result in this case looks too plastic. I've seen that same effect elsewhere and it always looks like airbrushing to the extreme combined with some kind of odd compression artifact. If you hold back the extremes a bit, the effect is really nice. In some cases it can make that lovely, innocent picture of your girlfriend make her feel kind of sleazy. See, the cheaper porn sites do this a LOT.
Often a transparency adjusted layer that's been gaussian blurred slightly after upping the contrast a bit can do fine for evening out a few of the skin inconsistencies we ALL have. Take the contrast to the extreme before using the gaussian blur then throw in some increase or decrease in saturation and you can get some cool results. Adjust the transparency to taste. It's cheap and fast, just don't overuse it. It often looks like overcompensating for a lack of decent subject/makeup/lighting/composition. - xlivevilx, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3ive used this tutorial in the past. it really does give good results however its also 2 or 3 years old
- statk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I completely agree with what you said. Too many people out there just overdo the filters and end up with plasticky people. On suggestion I can make, is to use a Median filter instead of the Gaussian blur. It's in filters under "noise". It creates a similar effect of averaging out larger areas, like skin, while maintaining detail in more contrasted areas like the eyes so the face doesn't get swallowed up by the effect. I still recommend lowering the opacity to make it look more realistic. Give it a shot.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4yeah after like step 12 ***** really starts to get ridiculous. should've stopped there.
- tamerf21, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1NICE.. because you use beautiful girl... after and before she is beautiful :)
- crazybugger, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Its good! But its old.
- SebHughes, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1I think I just soiled myself.
- unimatrixZxero, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1I like the tutorial. I'll try it on some of my future work and see what my clients say.
- BlogCrawler, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Dig me up if you think the girl is more beautiful in the original pic!
- brad76r, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1it wouldn't be mirroring the internet, just digg submissions. Despite digg's obvious popularity, it doesn't contain anywhere near all the content on the internet, probably not even one percent.
- extratired, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2works fine for me. I like the technique, it uses some not-so-obvious tools & filters.
- loganhid, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3Thanks for sharing it. I've recently started using photoshop - pretty confusing but learning.
- lhnz, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3@cankillar (#7144948)
Joke overused too much! Please leave the internet. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0http://www.digg.com/design/How_to_Airbrush_your_photos_in_Photoshop_
- theodenking, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1Wow this is old.
- acdcfanbill, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2Ugly end result in my opinion. Also painting in that skin mask by hand is big a waste of time. He should have used the color range command and/or channels to come up with a much more accurate mask. That would be faster, easier, and better.
- gametavern, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2gone already
- teiq, on 10/11/2007, -9/+7ugh, how many times is this going to be posted?
- rosefu, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3Sad, but true. Some of the most beautiful girls I've ever met had small flaws.
