500 hours! - dokbeast7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+62That's like trying to paint a realistic scene with spongepaints or something. Props to this guy. I made a perfect circle in paint once.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+55Girlfriend? Yeah right :)
- Cossins, on 10/12/2007, -8/+50soogy: Maybe, maybe not, but there sure is such a thing as polite speech. Calling people a "***** liar" is just not cool.

Same image, but in progress, just for those who think this is 'fake'.
Sometimes, just sometimes, people really are that skilled. - black|math, on 10/12/2007, -9/+49It also says on the deviantart page that he used photoshop for some of the effects so it is not all MSPaint.
- black|math, on 10/12/2007, -17/+50"Um, this is rather old.
"Submitted: May 3, 2005"
Yes, amazing, but I'm sure this was on digg ages ago."
You are correct sir(or madam): I remember seeing this around 550 days ago.
http://digg.com/tech_news/Image:_Venice_drawn_with_Microsoft_Paint - anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35"...could do this in 10 hours using the proper software and spend the 490 others on getting a life..."
I'd like to remind you of where you were when typing that message and what site you typed it on. - LiveFastDieOld, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32@ black|math
Correction: The artist specifically notes that he DIDN'T use Photoshop.
"if i did it like this in photoshop and the meaning of the word ms paint has disapear and the value of the picture itself would be gone too
so this is a challenge that i gave to myself" - jeriqo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30So, will MS Paint be integrated into Vista?
Can't believe it's still in XP. - msikma, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32Yeah, that's an amazing amount of work. I guess this is what happens if you just keep goin' and goin' and goin' and goin'.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26Sorry, this is still the best:

- Gronkk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27Reminds me of the old adventure games of yesteryear....
Games like King's Quest, Monkey Island....
Ahhh memories....
G - vibez, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26"ppl think someone will put so many hours in something ridiculous as this? To prove what?"
Obviously you don't have an artistic bone in your body. Artwork is a labor of love - friend18, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25See now THIS is a good ms paint picture. The guy who drew those ***** distorted cars sucked.
- Beaver6813, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21MS Paint is as intergrated as ctrl+alt+delete, you can't remove it... never!
- InternetUser, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25@TechZone
Why paint when you can use a camera?
:) - felyduw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19It would break the kernel if you removed mspaint.exe, of course it's still there. *grin*
- kicken18, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20I thought soogy was saying that in a sarcastic and jokey manor...perfect example of how saying 1 thing means differnt things to different people...kinda like women saying "No I am fine, nothin is wrong"
- Eastlygod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18MS Paint will still be in Vista, and it's as badly limited as it always was...
- capiCrimm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Sure there is, it's called a pie... I think that's what my math teacher said... brain cells fading...
- n0sferatu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Oh how I miss those games. :'(
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18I'm sorry, but if you're going to link to anything, at least link to the artist's original page and give him credit, which is exactly what the submitter of this article did.
- soogy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15The title of the image is "powerdraw" but the work was apparently done in MS Paint.
On another note, this has been up on Deviantart for so long, that it has racked up close to 800 comments on 77 pages. - mozami, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Hey lets give this guy a copy of photoshop and 500 hrs and see what he comes up with...
- kevincannon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Ermmm. The post you linked to there says the exact opposite.
- kicken18, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13you can get hold of Paint .NET these days, its better but still old paint
- IHaveIssues, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16"Wow, you have a small background."
You do realize that you can center an image, right? - atariby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13It wasn't that pixelated last time I looked.
- kicken18, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12a-*****-men anagoge. Maffiou, your right, but sometimes people like to do stuff like that, thats there choice, got nothing about "having a life". You could do a lot in 500 hours, but he did that, thats great, thats amazing. Why do I spend lots of time building a home network at home with lots of servers, cisco routers, windows, linux, VPN's blah blah blah...why? Becuase I enjoy learning and challenging my self and self teaching, thats ***** why you you idiot
- mozami, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17@vibez - we appreciate the art... its the tools that the artist used that make us wonder.
I dont see the point of this.... why DID he spend 500 hours doing it in paint???
Was this done in aid of a charity... Was he sponsored by the MS Paint Fan Club??
Anyways, each to his own, nice pic though... - bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Its ART. I've seen people genuinely love a bunch of circles and sticks on a canvas, I think this makes a hell of alot more sense. It was most likely art to prove to himself that he could do it. I mean, if you did something in MS Paint like that, I'm sure you'd be proud of your artistic skills for a lifetime. I know I would. Thats just plain impressive.
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I wasn't
- Ben - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Where the morons roam free.
- Vezran, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9really does look like Venice at dusk
- Inoko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Why? Probably to show someone that you can't bitch about the tools, only your own skill.
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7He said in the comments that it would be completely worthless to him if any part was done in anything but Paint... so no, not Photoshop.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Serious kudos. My girlfriend has done some pretty good stuff in MS Paint, but this is just amazing.
- Rigbymatt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7if you got rid of it what else would 4 year olds learning to use computers do?
- tdotn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7uh.. ms paint create files in bmp... he needed to convert to jpg so he must have used photoshop
- ever, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6 This is kind of off-topic, but most of the old Lucasarts' game graphics in games such as Monkey Island were first done with acrylic paints, markers etc. and then scanned and tidied up using a computer :).
Those were the days.. - Tyseyh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Didn't know stuff like this could be done on ms paint. Good job =)
- swOhio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Kingbelly,
He's actually correct in saying his girlfriend does work in paint, that's the hand he uses to control the mouse. - blainer0121, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Artists draw for the love of drawing. It's not always for the sake of money or kudos. And they share it with the world, because it evokes an emotion in them, which is the whole point. You're telling me you've never looked at a painting, and just stared at the sheer beauty of it? Completely losing all other thoughts in your head?
It's a moment of inner bliss, and I thank people for giving me those moments. - sonu27, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I posted this on my Flickr ages ago.
See the date: http://www.flickr.com/photos/amarjeetrai/88211854/
And here's an actual photo of what he "painted": http://www.flickr.com/photos/ppz/170387972/ - SVPirate, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Nice work, pity it would have taken him about half that time in any decent pixel package. Just cause he did it in Paint doesn't make it any better/worse, it just took a lot longer and was probablt kinda frustrating.
- michaelbeckham, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Thats awesome. Now my desktop background just for the effort.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I saw this work of art when it was originally submitted last year on dA. I appreciated it not for the amount of time spent on it, but for how it looked, just like every other piece of artwork on deviantART. It's only because it's now been on digg that your comment partially applies.
- JackHallows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is this the one of the bay type area? If so, dupe/old.
Edit: yep. I remeber seeing this at least twice already.
I like how all the hypocrites buried the first comment at the top that says it's old, but then dugg up the next dude that quoted it and specified when it was submitted. *****. -
