Modality ruins usability nearly always. As a rule of thumb, if you think something needs a modal interface, you can do better by redoing the interface in a way that does not need modality. A web page has infinite area with possibility of dynamic layout. Use it.
Slide shows belong in verbal presentations. Not in the web. A web page is an infinite page, so no reason to slice your information. Besides, web users want to consume information on you page at their own (fast) speed. A slide show design is too slow and too restrictive for users.
Entire site on single page (done with lots of Ajax) sucks as much as entire page done with Flash. It takes too long to load and make s it impossible to bookmark. - slyzxx, on 06/21/2009, -4/+2Thank you, I have been wrecking my brain on new ideas, these come in handy.
