- MrBabyMan, on 08/02/2008, -29/+1263What?! Where's Comic Sans?! Good list, but YOU KNOW Comic Sans should've been #1
- basye, on 08/03/2008, -8/+486Please teachers, don't use Comic Sans with our children. It sucks the intelligence right out of them.
- dshPls, on 08/03/2008, -4/+233I didn't even realize Trajan was everywhere until I watched this link from the article: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t87QKdOJNv8
The funny/sad thing is I've used Trajan, for movie graphics, many times. - dashdingo, on 08/03/2008, -2/+201Funny story. I was just at a place picking out a tombstone for my late father, and when they asked what font we'd like the engravings to be in, I asked if they had Comic Sans (just to see if people would do that). They said they didn't, and they actually laughed at me a little bit.
- mnortei, on 08/03/2008, -7/+204Sorry about your dad
- boydbme, on 08/03/2008, -3/+165yeah. apparently my church back home paid for everything to be painted and had a verse put up on the wall behind the podium... in papyrus font. I felt so bad/embarrassed for them.. It's like seeing a lil kid who wears his pants pulled up to his nipples and really thinks it's ok, but you know he's going to get picked on at school.
- Halukard, on 08/03/2008, -29/+167Too many people still uses Times New Roman since it's the default font on MS Office. If you wan't to use a "standard" font, stick to Arial, it's a lot easier on the eye.
- JohnnyRad, on 08/03/2008, -1/+115Mcdonalds requires a resume now?
- Kragnerac, on 08/03/2008, -1/+114Not anymore. Since Office 2007, Calibri is the new standard.
- tomarocco, on 08/03/2008, -5/+104I use Comic Sans on my resume.
- eliburford, on 08/03/2008, -6/+96Yep, I can understand why Papyrus is on the list, but what happened to Comic Sans? Is hating Comic Sans so unspoken that you didn't need to include it?
- aaronmcdonald, on 08/03/2008, -2/+89Arial? You mean poor mans Helvetica?
- Dumbledorito, on 08/03/2008, -2/+71How can you eliminate Brush Script? What will cheerleaders use to put their names on their shirts, then?
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -4/+72Reading speed and comprehension improves when using a serifed font. Arial or any sans serif font should be avoided for huge blocks of text.
- vikblazin, on 08/03/2008, -1/+66damn thats a harsh analogy
- grammarpolice, on 08/03/2008, -1/+66WTF are you talking about? Verdana is one of the best fonts to use for website readability. Do you really want all websites to use arial for copy text?
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -2/+66With a background image like that, they have no right to complain about poor design choices.
- apophenic, on 08/03/2008, -1/+64Sans serif fonts are only easier on the eye if you're reading from a screen. Serif fonts are better for printed material (pick up a book and look at the font they used).
People also use it because it's required by many teachers and professors. I only used Arial in papers if I needed to fill space and the teacher hadn't expressly forbidden it. - SmellyGeekBoy, on 08/03/2008, -3/+66People misusing the word "literally" makes me nauseous.
- mr.hostility, on 08/03/2008, -0/+58Does anyone else find 85% of HR employees use Comic Sans? I guess to them it seems "we'd like to tell you that you no longer have x (a job, summer hours, bonuses, etc)" goes over easier when it looks like a child wrote the email with crayons.
- onesam, on 08/03/2008, -8/+56No Comic Sans? This list has no credibility without it. Who could ever have imagined that credibility could rely on Comic Sans?!
- Invader001, on 08/03/2008, -3/+47they dont need shirts anyways
- ShuttleDisaster, on 08/03/2008, -22/+66OMG BURIED! No Comic Sans???? BAN COMIC SANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- digitaldivinci, on 08/03/2008, -3/+40"Papyrus is used to communicate an ethnic or earthy tone. But because everyone uses it, now it just says lazy and unimaginative."
As soon as I saw this, I knew they would comment on ethnic usage. I have had to make so many ads for anything from greek to Egyptian restaurant and they all want this font. It honestly makes me rage. - grapesofbaath, on 08/03/2008, -3/+38yeah because everyone else in the church are nerds who are over-analyzing type fonts.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -13/+48It's just a font... I don't understand how anyone could get so mad at it that they would make youtube videos.
- Kanidia, on 08/03/2008, -2/+35♪ But comic sans is the greatest one of them all! ♪
- synystar, on 08/03/2008, -3/+36Yup. Why is it not on this list? Make it 8.
- jordanlgta, on 08/03/2008, -2/+33I used Comic Sans back in 1996 to create my first webpage. I apologize if I caused anyone to stab themselves repeatedly with a stick to the eye. I realize my mistake in 1997.

great movie, btw... - JorgeGT, on 08/03/2008, -0/+29It is assumed that Comic Sans should be erradicated... you can think it as the item #0 of the list.

I am shocked and awed that there are honestly font elitists on the internet...
Furries finally have someone to pick on. - inactive, on 08/03/2008, -13/+39Very few people can tell exactly why they are against Comic Sans. It's just one of those "because everyone else said so" kind of things.
/Waiting for the flock of wannabe designers rebuting my comment after googling a few reasons about why they dislike Comic Sans. - terajoule, on 08/03/2008, -3/+29No Wingdings?
- tomarocco, on 08/03/2008, -2/+28People work at Starbucks? I thought that place was just a posing gallery for Urban Hipsters.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -3/+28Comic Sans means EDUCATION FUNZ 4 U
- MAGZine, on 08/03/2008, -3/+28Exactly. Verdana is just an all around, clean looking font. It's supposed to be generic. Until Vista and its fonts are more ubiquitous, I'll have to hold off on using Calibri, but Verdana is still FTW.
PS, look at what font you're reading... - Rotzooi, on 08/03/2008, -2/+26Have you seen how many stores have the awning proudly displaying their name/motto/product/whatever in big fat Comic Sans lettering? It looks ridiculous. Comic Sans has one place: children's party invitations, and then only when those are made by children.
- rchrdcrg, on 08/03/2008, -3/+27They used Papyrus for the lettering of The Butterfly Palace in Branson, MO, and as soon as I saw it, I just shook my head at how such a huge, unique place could have such a *****, generic logo.
- bovox, on 08/03/2008, -5/+28The irony is that most of these "font elitists" aren't even designers who attended an accredited design school at a university. They're Web DeZiners who have pirated copies of Photoshop and know a little HTML.
No self-respecting designer would call a typeface a "font" in public. None. - 1337Guest, on 08/03/2008, -2/+25I don't know who dugg you down, but you're right. A lot of people agree that serif fonts are the best for books. I've never seen an entire book written in Arial.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -0/+23It is not the fonts - its how they are used that matters. Almost everyone of these fonts can be a part of beautiful design. BTW Trajan is one of the best typfaces ever created.
