- KillTheRhythm, on 08/28/2008, -6/+63Fireworks is really good but I wouldn't say it's better than Photoshop.
- Bamboolemur, on 08/29/2008, -2/+44We will keep that in mind, thank you. I have to go, I think my torrent finished downloading.
- advtise, on 08/28/2008, -16/+53Fireworks rules....:)
- TheGreatBelow, on 08/29/2008, -1/+27God I miss Macromedia! ;-(
- Phillyzero, on 08/29/2008, -0/+26Title: "It is better than Photoshop"
Caption: "Yes, it can be almost as powerful." - darkhero, on 08/29/2008, -0/+23Photoshop is free. Piratebay doesn't charge for it.
- granolajoe, on 08/28/2008, -6/+27Fireworks is awesome. It can be much better than photoshop for creating quality web graphics with minimal effort.
- Apocalyptic0n3, on 08/29/2008, -3/+21I was need it? Now that is wonderful English.
- ry4nsm1th, on 08/28/2008, -0/+16I do like Fireworks, but there is so much more information out there to learn from for Photoshop.
- robharper, on 08/29/2008, -0/+15Legally?
- mathew_bug, on 08/29/2008, -0/+12They're really not comparable at all. This 'it is better than photoshop' thing is bollocks: Fireworks and Photoshop serve different purposes and that's why they both exist in the same company.
Fireworks is not a cheaper version of Photoshop whatsoever. - ngmcs8203, on 08/29/2008, -1/+13Photoshop = photo manipulation (has other features too, but that's it's main use) and raster graphics
Illustrator = Vector/Print graphics
InDesign = Layout
Fireworks = Web Graphics
I absolutely hate it when we find a decent designer who is so adamant about doing everything in one piece of software. Adobe created the suite for a reason. When I'm working on something and have an outside designer send me a photoshop file when I ask for a vector file, they never get called back. - dubiousmike, on 08/29/2008, -0/+12I bought fireworks from a roadside stand and blew my fingers off. Top that Photoshop!
- bjornski, on 08/29/2008, -4/+16Or just get http://www.getpaint.net/
It's so close to Photoshop, that unless you use custom filters all the time you won't notice (and there are plug-ins for that, too. Paint.net is open source, and there's new stuff for it all the time) - bradhart2, on 08/28/2008, -4/+16Fireworks is great, but if you can get an older copy of photoshop on ebay you still are better off in my opinion. An official PS 7 disk only cost me only $20 not so long ago...
- jggube, on 08/28/2008, -7/+19Adobe Fireworks is a good graphics creation tool.

***** LOADS OF DIGGERS FINED FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENTS - inactive, on 08/28/2008, -11/+22What do you mean expensive?
Download trial version, download key. - Zdorab, on 08/29/2008, -0/+10This story is definitely shopped.
- ngmcs8203, on 08/29/2008, -0/+10Or have your company pay for it and then use your allotted second copy for your home.
- katjas, on 08/29/2008, -0/+10Why do you sign your name? I can already see it on your profile...?
- nads, on 08/29/2008, -1/+11The problem with Fireworks is that it is Photoshop's much uglier step-sister, It's a part of the Adobe family but it's having difficulties fitting in because no one in the family is giving her any attention, until they do so, it will never fulfil it's potential of being intuitive and useful.
(Damn... even Dr Phil would be proud of my psychology skills) - shaherazad, on 08/29/2008, -3/+13Not if you pirate it...
- soniyashrma, on 08/28/2008, -1/+10it is very, very expensive.
- BrettFromTibet, on 08/29/2008, -4/+13Fireworks is SO MUCH better than Photoshop for your average CSS / Web designer. It is like a slimmed down cross between Photoshop and Illustrator with everything you need for the Web and leaving out what you don't. Photoshop is the right tool if you need to do photographic work, Fireworks is made especially for Web graphics - and it's lean and fast - not bloated. If I need a simple web design element... like a box or rounded corner.. I can have that thing drawn, sliced, diced and uploaded to the server by the time the loading credits of your Photoshop even appear.
- Falldog, on 08/28/2008, -1/+10Maybe it's me, but reading through all I see are extensions to give it capabilities Photoshop already has...
- joshman5k, on 08/29/2008, -0/+9I don't seem to mind people pirating it to try, or for educational uses. But if your wanting to make money doing web-design and the like, your a bit of an arsehole pirating it.
- lowtolerance, on 08/29/2008, -1/+10What a bunch of hyperbole. Yes, Fireworks can be better for designing web graphics than fireworks, because that's what it's made for! But it's not more powerful than photoshop, and no amount of plug-ins will change that.
- DoctorFaust, on 08/29/2008, -1/+10What kinda landlubber be squanderin' his booty on somethin' that should be free anyway?
Yarr. - tempusrob, on 08/29/2008, -0/+9Or if you're actually doing something with it that makes you money, since that's who it's targeted to.
- anagoge, on 08/29/2008, -0/+8Competition creates innovation
Monopolisation creates stagnation - icaruscoil, on 08/29/2008, -1/+9"I just wanted to comment on this because as a professional women's water polo teacher, I see this kind of sexism run rampant, so excuse me if I rant."
So you are a professional women's water polo teacher and a professional graphics editor. What don't you do dude? And please don't give me your canned salesman response. If I wanted to believe a lie I'd believe in god.
Thanks,
Professional Women's Water Polo Champion Guy - Borgcube636, on 08/28/2008, -3/+10Photoshop > Fireworks > Photoshop Elements
- wild, on 08/28/2008, -2/+9Photoshop is a better program than Fireworks, price be damned. But thats just the professional designer in me talking. (You know, its a tool of my trade, so price isn't that important.)
Fireworks does a few things well, but it has a lot of major issues that prevent it from besting the combination of Photoshop and Illustrator. - SoopaflySAM, on 08/29/2008, -0/+7Smart Object makes my life easier
- ralphthemagi, on 08/29/2008, -0/+6For quick stuff, and for the web. For the web it can't be beat. You can turn mock-ups into usable CSS/HTML faster than anything else I know of, and you can keep it pixel accurate. It makes it super easy to draft something up, then convert everything to vectors.
It's really the best tool out there for generating static images for render in a browser.
It's completely unusable for print though. AFAIK it doesn't even really support CMYK. The filters are also pretty crappy. Even with some of the new Photoshop imports in CS3, they are all subpar and half of them don't really work right.
I use Fireworks every day though. Love it. - wontstoptalking, on 08/28/2008, -1/+7That's why you need to hit a button to import unrendered 3d models. And some people actually do.
The gimp is awesome for the price. But seriously, unless you were hit by the arrow of the Cupid of Open Source (and hit hard), would you really choose the Gimp over photoshop if both were free? (Because they both are free) - vawksel, on 08/29/2008, -0/+6I'm sorry to say, but I use layer effects A TON. I can't draw worth ***** and layer effects get almost all the work done for me.
I tried GIMP many times, and my productivity goes to *****, I spent a good 30 minutes exclusively looking on how to do something like layer effects, then realized. YOU CAN'T. - smackydoodle, on 08/29/2008, -4/+10There are still some people in the world that actually buy things they want to own.
- ngmcs8203, on 08/29/2008, -0/+6Earth to Crabcakes, driving a Ferrari doesn't MAKE you rich.
- wedges, on 08/29/2008, -0/+6Fireworks is not a retouching tool. Thus, it's not comparable to Photoshop.
- bjornski, on 08/29/2008, -0/+5Except for layer effects?
Hell, if you took my layer tools away from me in Photoshop, I'd be just as well off using MS Paint.
Hell, Paint.net is better at layers and such than GIMP. (and more. Paint.net rules). And it's free also. It's like Photoshop's little brother.

GIVE ME LAYERS OR GIVE ME DEATH! - LucasVB, on 08/29/2008, -1/+6Quick question, does Fireworks still hijack the PNG extension to itself? In the old days, it would associate itself with PNG files no matter what you did. It was very annoying and very stupid. Why not make their own file format instead of hijacking an existing one?
So, is it still like that? - negativefx, on 08/29/2008, -1/+6@icaruscoil: "If I wanted to believe a lie I'd believe in god." priceless.
- mindsnare, on 08/29/2008, -0/+5I've always used Fireworks for graphics and slicing and dicing, I've never trusted it's exported HTML though, I do that part myself.
- aDJsavedmylife, on 08/29/2008, -0/+5You can make animated gifs in photoshop now you tit.
- DeathJux, on 08/29/2008, -1/+6Good luck trying to do a Photomerge in 7.0.
- dullnation, on 08/29/2008, -0/+4@ngmcs8203
you must have changed your file associations because all versions of CS3 that include Fireworks default PNGs to it. Effing annoying. -
