- jonathanbull, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Looks like its down:
http://duggmirror.com/design/5_Freefonts_You_Shouldn_t_Have_Missed/
Edit: Back up again, digg me down. - dingdingding, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17I made some free fonts too. Nowhere near as good as these. But you're still welcome to come download.
http://dubqnp.dk/?cat=13 - JosBuivenga, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Hi, I'm Jos Buivenga and I've designed Fertigo. It is not allowed to distribute my font without my permission...
- Valarauka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Are you kidding? They look nothing like each other.
Some good stuff in there, particularly COM4t and Fertigo... - Markpdotcom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10You mean... "You're really rude..." ;)
- Valarauka, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Huh? I just downloaded a few with no problems... and you really can't put a time-limit on a TTF file.
- openbah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If you are the copyright holder, email Rapidshare and tell them to take it down:
abuse@rapidshare.com - Doomtime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Thanks. those font are pretty good. i really like Roundabout.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Abusing the comments but... If you are into free fonts, http://www.fontleech.com/ is the place to go. They haven't updated in a long time, but the archives are great. There are a lot of pages full of quality free fonts.
- entz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5don't agree...but cyrus highsmith does indeed rock (he was my type teacher and is awesome).
- Imagine3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5GaffleSnipe~ you are clueless. The may look similar to you but to someone like me that does typesetting every day of my life, there is nothing similar about these. you need to look at individual aspects of every letter. the lower case a's are totally different. Same with the b's and e's.
I will be adding these to my collection. - ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't recommend using COM4:. It shares an interrupt with COM2:.
- kokorhekkus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, you're both right I guess. 4 of them you can download directly while the FF Clan Narrow Bold site asks for your email adress. No, I didn't get that one so I could read what they say in their EULA for the font since at least that one could be a bit limited when you look at what they write: "...their use is regulated by their respective End User License Agreements"
- stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It seems that other people have posted their own fonts without getting buried. I've just started out, so all I've done is a handwriting font. I'd really appreciate any feedback.
http://stalefries.googlepages.com/fontsbreip - ufoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The web site is down. Damn I shouldn’t have missed them.
- JosBuivenga, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I just did. Thanks for the mail address.
- dingdingding, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@stuf & doomtime. Thanks! I just enjoyed/used so many good free typefaces - and thought I'd try to give something back to the community. It was fun having to learn how to do it on my own.
- mtcool1988, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Internal Server error 500's Font was sooooo Yesterday.. Why would anyone want that? LOL J/K Le me see if i can find a duggmirror or just replace digg with dugg mirror..
- dingdingding, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@zeroSignal. It looks like you can type i any email you like - and the download will start. I used imnotgivingmyemailtoamachine@somethingsomething.com. And the download started.
- sandig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That error which you got is nothing to do with CSS. Kundenserver.de is the address of the servers which 1and1.co.uk, 1and1.com and 1and1.de host their customers' sites on (kunden=customer in german) as the company which owns and operates all three of these sites is german. They probably got hit by a huge amount of traffic from being linked to from here (they got dugg) and they're having trouble serving out pages.
- Capisano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They are free, and for the email just enter something like cdnvnaweo@vcalinhuhkn.net
Worked for me, and no spam. - nogChoco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The one I liked, brought me to FontShop.com and had a 'free to try for a limited time' (could have been just a standard line) on the downloadpage, but with an e-mail required to download. That's at least 1 out of 5 that's not freely available as I consider giving my e-mail address = payment (the companies use them, so it's something of value to them).
And you can limit a file's use via an attached user-license agreement. - OwdenBowden, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It is on the front page because the poster is some how connected to the creators of digg and has a hard code in there profile that says "what ever this person posts it goes to the front page". Hi Diggers - the fact is that only the people that know the creators / workers of Digg.com will get placed on the front page. It is kind of like the Cyber Illuminati. Oh and, if you are not one of the Illuminati then you are a Financial Supporter / Backer of Digg and have been granted the rights to have anything you post on the front page.
So - what have we learned Dorothy?
Kevin Rose is the wizard of Oz. All of the hard coded Front pagers are real life pals of Digg.com Corp - and the rest of us are Diggholes for believing in this make believe system where "you make the rules..."
This is why it is on the front page.
Digg me Down / Digg me up - I don't really care. - Adrianc333, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm liking the "District Thin" and the "FF Clan™ Narrow Bold" fonts.
Thanks, Dugg. - stuf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3But Roundabout is awesome.
- garyh84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Totally agree on Roundabout. Some pretty kickass stuff.
- russellnation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Blasted! the site is down when i go there..... maybe later
- bornazombie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1district is a nice looking font but i wish they had more weights for free :'(
- slickrick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1~Getting ready to be buried~ > don't write this. It's annoying and its a waste of space.
To answer your question, to any real designer or typographer most free font out there (fontleech and fontfreak ) are most likely sh!t. You can tell who is a designer by trade and a designer because they have the programs – the later using "crazy-cool" fonts they downloaded free of charge.
Usually any free font you can get has nothing to do with real typography and shouldn't even be in the same realm as fonts found on Veer or by HTF, Underware, etc. To actually find good fonts whose author is nice enough to let people download for free is a rarity. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow! Great fonts. I agree about roundabout. This is definitely worth its own digg.
- Snowcone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@nogChoco
I think they meant technically. I think the consensus is that a EULA is only valuable if the person using the software really cares about its contents. - MillionsLivio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's mainly because of the whole "these are good fonts that get neglected, so I'm bringing them up from the basement so they can get some air and a bit of light". The first font is very good indeed, the rest were good as well, but there are better ones of course. If your a designer finding good fonts that haven't been over used to no end that give you a a sense of individuality and look great at the same time is important. I'm a web designer and a graphic artist and I personally love it when stuff like this is put on the front page, it's actually put to use, instead of a new story about a rumor of the latest "fix for ipod" or "hack for psp", we get something that is productive, and put to use. If you don't like it, "bury" it; as that's the whole point of dig.
You can see some fonts and tutorials I've made or posted at http://TheBluePanda.com if anyones interested. - zeroSignal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Can you possibly upload it somewhere and leave it for ~24 hours so I can grab it when I get off work? I don't really want to register.
- slantyeyed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1site is DOWN, check back with dugg mirror
- je12u, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0~Getting ready to be buried~
So the general consensus is that Digg readers are above avg. PC users right?...
So who gives a ***** about FIVE free fonts?!?! There's a million and one free fonts out there. Most of which will never see the light of day anyway...
so remind me again why this was on the front page? - slickrick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1~Getting ready to be buried~ > don't write this. It's annoying and its a waste of space.

- mmmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1umm... free? as in samples in a store? Free for non-commercial use?
-soapbox_mode_on-
These has a really lame EULA. If it is free, let it be really free. This kind of EULA is what prevents me from using open source works on the job. They are designed to sheer corporations by inadvertent miss-use.
-soapbox_mode_off- - chubbymidget, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://www.dafont.com/
Tons of great fonts. Most are free use, read the .txt for details. - je12u, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@slickrick
That def. makes sense. and I can appreciate the need for quality free fonts. Still don't see how this got over 1,000 diggs (digg conspiracy theory aside)?!?
As for the "getting ready to be buried" ...c'mon, waste of space?!? get over yourself. I don't think my 20 or so extra characters will be clogging up the tubes anytime soon. I just hope you don't reply w/ "but will it blend" or a "in Russia" joke!! - SobyOne, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I like it: In the middle of describing how to use CCS, the source itself is not robust.
Should I duplicate their results?
NOTE: webadmin@kundenserver.de -> So the .com thing was just a mask ?
