http://www.visualphotoguide.com/tilt-shift-photosh ... (www.visualphotoguide.com/tilt-shift-photoshop-tutorial-how-to-make-fake-miniature-scenes/) - inactive, on 07/20/2008, -3/+45Some are truly realistic but some have an exaggerated soft focus effect
- hwy9nightkid, on 07/20/2008, -1/+22some of these were not too good, but a few could fool me.
- jarjarwang, on 07/20/2008, -1/+20The more hyphens in a web address, the faster it goes down.
- hilanderiam, on 07/20/2008, -4/+21No missiles?
- Ardentfrost, on 07/20/2008, -3/+19That is so weird! It really does make the pictures look like miniatures.
You know where you won't see this technique done? Porn. - mrjit, on 07/20/2008, -3/+19Well that died quickly.

- PlasmaFlux, on 07/20/2008, -0/+8Tilt Shift images on Flickr:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/tilt-shift-fakes/pool ... - tghd, on 07/20/2008, -0/+8If anybody cares this has nothing to do with shifting. Tilt creates the miniature effect while shift is mainly used to create distortion free panoramics. I and many photographers use shift lenses for architectural work, both interiors and exteriors. The reason people use the term tilt-shift is because the lenses used to create such affects usually tilt and shift. I would be willing to bet that the majority of those lenses aren't purchased for their tilt effect but more for their shifting capabilities. Ive seen very few professional pictures employ tilt, while I see hundreds of published photographs use shift.
- cl2yp71c, on 07/20/2008, -0/+7There's a photoshop tutorial for everything these days.
- PabloIV, on 07/20/2008, -3/+9That looked EXACTLY like a 503 error. WOW!!!!
- wraithscelus, on 07/20/2008, -0/+6They remind me of Mr. Rogers' neighborhood.
- OctoLincoln, on 07/20/2008, -0/+6kentomatic is right. These are stills from Olivo Barbieri's amazing helicopter footage with a fancy lens that flattens the foreground and focuses across a huge depth -- fooling the eye into to thinking distances are smaller.
Heres video of his Las Vegas piece:

- leesto, on 12/17/2008, -0/+5I think part of this must lie on the photo you choose to do the effect on.
Choose the right one and you get a very impressive effect. - DeskFlyer, on 07/20/2008, -8/+12Bitching about MBM = Buried
- wonkavsn, on 07/20/2008, -0/+4'fraid so, pervo!
- SweetChinMusic, on 07/20/2008, -0/+4It IS real!
- Maryus, on 07/20/2008, -0/+4I tried on my own using that and got this:
http://bayimg.com/OaJbDAABp - jbrand45, on 07/20/2008, -1/+5Hmm, what's to stop me from just taking photos of miniatures and saying I did this tilt-shift voodoo?
- inactive, on 07/20/2008, -4/+8Digging just to crash their server. ;)
- boshuda, on 07/20/2008, -1/+4THIS IS COPYRIGHT INFRINGMENT AND WERE ALL GOING TO HELL!!!
- Quicksilver4648, on 07/20/2008, -2/+5Alright, its down. Mirror?
- xaeon, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3I'm convinced that a few of those were actually just photos of miniatures.
- theodenking, on 07/20/2008, -2/+51. Take nice photo.
2. Blur top and bottom.
3. ???
4. PROFIT! - cbeach, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3Blurring the top and bottom of a photo does not come close to a real DOF effect. A lot of these images look really clumsy. Why not just take photos of miniatures with a lens of decent aperture hence giving you authentic DOF effects?
People's first dabblings with Photoshop "techniques" are one of digg's annoying trends.
Thanks for this one, Mr Babyman (and your army of digg bots)... - Zounas, on 07/20/2008, -1/+4Amateurish at the best. Does any of them know that you should blur according to the object's/surface's distance to the camera and not by image dimensions? Looks ugly when only half of a tree is blurred.
- raskali, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3Great link, thanks!
- DelMonte, on 07/20/2008, -0/+3Isn't that part of the trick, to have exaggerated soft focus effects?
- datagod, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2Those are awesome pics...thanks for sharing!
- adikt, on 07/21/2008, -0/+2Are you a moron made to look like a real person?
- bj00rn, on 07/20/2008, -2/+4Buried for the use of the word "Amazing".
- hammerikaner, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2Here's a flickr group called Tilt-shift Miniature Fakes for you all:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/59319377@N00/ - wintermute0, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2Thanks, was just about to start searching for a tutorial.
- ryangws, on 07/20/2008, -2/+4They aren't mirrors if they come from the original site
- wintermute0, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2Bawwwwww.
- bieber, on 07/20/2008, -0/+2This is correct. Tilt is generally used more with view cameras, where you can tilt the lens and film planes separately to achieve effectively unlimited depth-of-field along a slanted surface (the Schumpflug effect, I think they call it)
- CrushThemTorg, on 07/20/2008, -1/+2Posting the same site as a mirror. You win the internets.
- FoxOrian, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1That's actually pretty tastefully done, you kept the blur to a more believable level, though the background blur seems to occur a little too sharply at the end of that street. Nice, though.
A little shameless self-promotion of my own:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/fox-orian/2589097697/ ... - aaronadms, on 07/20/2008, -1/+2Buried for the use of ""Amazing"".
- BTallack, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1This make me want to go buy a Lensbaby lens.
http://www.lensbabies.com/ - thesha1, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1damn thats cool.
- chaos7, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1the last one with the rusty cars is good
- rayzha, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1The one of the car completely threw me off.
Could have been better if the original image was posted too - CAisBacK, on 07/20/2008, -0/+1God damn it Digg you broke this too?
