Digg is a "make a whole lot of money selling advertising" site, and the people making "a whole lot of money" are ultimately going to control what makes front page through one mechanism or another. MakiMaki and MrBabyMan are two of the mechanisms. Not saying any of that's bad. It's like going to the theater, you know it isn't real but you still watch it and enjoy it.
