- nads, on 08/18/2008, -2/+66Bookmarked and will most likely never be looked at again.
- ha3er0, on 06/16/2009, -1/+25Noupe is a good blog for resources like this; so I subscribed to their feed.
But, for a blog about web designing, I think their layout is mighty ugly.
For instance, look at the footer, it's all over the place. - Arock66, on 08/18/2008, -0/+20I love when these types of topics hit the front page.
- mhuggins, on 08/18/2008, -0/+17OMG, tech stuff on homepage of tech site! Quickly, DIGG IT!!
- EkkiEkkiPtang, on 08/18/2008, -9/+21Some great techniques in there...
Thanks for putting this together. - duerra, on 08/18/2008, -0/+10Somebody loves jQuery. This is probably useful for some people, but I was hoping for more abstract code-writing techniques, rather than "here's how you style a select" type examples.
- lulzitsadigg, on 08/18/2008, -0/+9You must be new. What does the validation of their website's html have to do on the usefulness of the content? Digg.com has 107 errors and 44 warnings. You should just leave this site and never come back since it doesn't follow the xhtml standards either.
- mhuggins, on 08/18/2008, -0/+9After actually seeing the article, I retract my previous comment.
- uptown, on 08/18/2008, -0/+9Nah, your mom filled us all in.
- GoatMonkey2112, on 08/18/2008, -0/+614. It's OK to use HTML tables sometimes.
- mhuggins, on 08/18/2008, -2/+8Also, WTF at the first 10 comments...SocialElves much?
- Cornfuse, on 08/18/2008, -0/+5I don't think the footer is that bad, I think the site is just too busy - too many columns and images.
- chadisawesome, on 08/18/2008, -0/+5this is good stuff. I was disappointed that about 90% of the ideas want to use JQuery, which isn't a big deal but I woulda wanted a little bit more in the css stuff
- Wolfsoap, on 08/18/2008, -1/+6I remember the Good Old Days of Digg when we had articles like this all the time.
Great collection of techniques. - Drewsky, on 08/18/2008, -0/+4I have to agree with you. The footer is ok but could do better
- MalDON, on 08/18/2008, -0/+4Yea, I stopped reading when I hit the one about alignment and how it's easier in jQuery. If you can't layout items on a page without javascript, you can't call yourself a web designer/developer.
- inactive, on 08/18/2008, -3/+7Nostalgic comment.
- zaxnyd, on 08/19/2008, -0/+3Is digg comprised majorly of web designers?
- MalDON, on 08/18/2008, -1/+4Only when they are actually used for tables of data.
- myt29, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2aka. jQuery plugin website
- noverflow, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2That is so overkill for tables or javascript.
You can just do it with css. Give the input label a class.
.justify {
display: block;
float: left;
width: 150px;
} - chrisbarr, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2Cool, I made #21 on the list! Big surprise for me.
I made it with mootools 1.1, and never got a chance to update it for 1.11 or 1.2 - so you'll have to use it with the older version, but shouldn't be too hard to update to 1.2 if needed/wanted. - inactive, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1I wish that all numerical multi-fields had auto-tab. They SHOULD all have it.
Getting to one of these fields is like running up to a door, and not knowing whether or not you need to pull out keys to open it, because you don't know if they left the door unlocked because they knew you were coming. gah. frustrating - allengeer, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1anyone got links on how we can relate these to GWT type forms?
- GoatMonkey2112, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1With tables or the listed solution you get an offset of the maximum text size instead of a fixed width though.
- Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -0/+1"Noupe is a good blog for resources like this; so I subscribed to their feed."
You mean their ideas intrigued you, and you would have liked to subscribe to their newsletter? - Lanlost, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1Sure, Digg me down.. but does anyone want to explain to me why Digg users are crazy enough to give this comment +13 diggs when the comment below "Awesome collection of techniques." get's dugg down? Any other comment that is similar gets buried.
Am I missing something here or are digg users ***** crazy these days? - aywwts4, on 08/21/2008, -0/+1One short semi-generic comment is agreeable, two is annoying, three is a crime?
Also, perhaps people were agreeing more with "thanks for putting this together" wheras the other comments are things like "bookmarked" "good stuff" and "great ebayer, will buy again! A++++" - inactive, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1not at all.....now() Where did I put my CSS cheat sheet...
- jeromehmoss, on 12/20/2008, -0/+0Women have full property rights both before and after marriage. In fact women are given more in the way of financial security than men. Everything that a married man earns must go to the benefit of his family, while anything that a married woman earns is hers to keep and use in whatever way she would like. Because

http://www.thoughts.com/ianuk11/blog/ - Knowltey, on 08/25/2008, -0/+0What I'm saying is that that site is trying to tell us how to do CSS, when their own CSS is invalid, and anyways the first link was the CSS Validator, I just thre in the HTML Validator for good measure.
Digg isn't trying to tell us how to do CSS or HTML so it's fine if their CSS or HTML isn't valid.
This is like going to your mechanic and finding out his car is a rustbucket with a donut tire that can only be driven 10 miles before it overheats.
Maybe it's just me but if I found out my mechanic drove a car like that, there's no way in hell he's touching mine. - stretch611, on 08/18/2008, -1/+1Forms always seem to be the ugliest yet necessary part of web development. This has definitely given me a new outlook.
- shto, on 08/18/2008, -1/+1Stuff like this is always welcomed. Thanks.
- inactive, on 08/18/2008, -1/+1Sweet. I was waiting for another article like this.
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -1/+1yeah its a good collection, but i mean most of the examples are just ported over from jQuery and mootools.
- homesqua, on 08/19/2008, -2/+1Before you guys digg this, I hope you realize that none of this ***** is new.
- N01SE, on 08/19/2008, -2/+0Meanwhile in the computer graphics industry, they are simulating realistic facial animations.
