- trance, on 05/22/2008, -1/+10Nice! Just what I needed right now too.
Really liking http://www.wakeuplater.com/ - Vodd9, on 05/22/2008, -0/+8Yeah, because every web designers/developpers are born knowing these.
- UberNick, on 05/23/2008, -0/+7It's all on one page and not 30!!! Mr. Competent Designers, you have another subscriber!
- jggube, on 05/22/2008, -1/+8Digg is definitely an awesome place to catch development/design news. I personally follow the the following sections:
Programming/Upcoming/Most Popular
http://digg.com/news/programming/upcoming/most
Design/Upcoming/Most Popular
http://digg.com/news/design/upcoming/most
Software and Industry News are awesome sections too. Why upcoming? Two reasons: first, I want to read them before it hits the front page and second, many good stories that are worth a read and that I'm interested in might not become popular. - hansonc, on 05/22/2008, -5/+12Shouldn't this be "30 web development sites you'll never bother going to again after finding A List Apart"?
- ElBeh, on 05/22/2008, -2/+9I'm not into site design, but I'm Digging this because I'm tired of looking at ugly sites.
- grammarpolice, on 05/22/2008, -0/+6The same person created it. It also looks like http://freelanceswitch.com/
- inactive, on 05/22/2008, -2/+7Great article. Well Researched!
You got another subscriber. - inactive, on 05/22/2008, -1/+6really awesome resource, i've subscribed to almost all of these feeds.
- Metasquares, on 05/22/2008, -1/+6#2 makes my eyes hurt. Well-designed websites aren't supposed to make your eyes hurt.
- Me1000, on 05/22/2008, -0/+5You are aware you have the ability to delete posts now. Right?
- banana234, on 05/22/2008, -1/+6This is a great post. I'm always looking for more sites to visit, and some of these I had never heard of!
- jggube, on 05/22/2008, -0/+5NETTUTS is a sister site of PSDTUTS, run both by Collis Ta'eed, who also created FreelanceSwitch (either he also runs it, or designed the website, or writes for them). So yeah, definitely they'll have similarities in design.
- Kingoftherings, on 05/22/2008, -1/+5Awesome article, just what I need. :)
- JonnyCasino, on 05/22/2008, -1/+5My favorite out of the bunch is the IBM developer works, it's an awesome resource for learning about anything related to web development. I also like the O'Reilly network.
- mujahideenryder, on 05/23/2008, -1/+4www.google.com
- parax, on 05/23/2008, -0/+3A List Apart was the first thing that came to my mind. I've been following it for almost a decade and it usually has a lot more usable information than half of the sites in that list. The entire push towards web standardization owes a lot to ALA and Zeldman.
I find it hard to believe anyone who knows anything about web development either forget about ALA, or not be aware of it, which leads me to believe the author spends a lot more time thinking about creating lists than thinking about design/development. - war59312, on 05/23/2008, -0/+3Right, why should we read a site that does not have the balls to review itself?
At the very least they should have made themselves be in the top 5. Sad! ;) - wikwam, on 05/23/2008, -0/+3yay for being on a single page
- krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -0/+3most of these have nothing to do with development or web applications. creating layouts for wordpress/drupal has nothing to do with development.
- Comus, on 05/23/2008, -0/+3Information overload.... is so addicting.
- Karmavs, on 05/23/2008, -0/+2NetTuts has been extremely basic so far. I'm hoping they go a bit further…
- supermose, on 05/28/2008, -0/+2Nettuts has had some great content lately - good tutorials.
- coltraning, on 05/23/2008, -0/+2I just found this recently as well. Another wonderful resource. Thanks for posting!
- jrtcs, on 05/23/2008, -0/+2Aren't the best sites made by MySpace members?
/sarcasm - Thomaschaaf, on 05/23/2008, -0/+2http://devorbit.net isn't too bad either :P Just sometimes gets off topic
- stretch611, on 05/22/2008, -0/+2As a web developer, I know I need help with my design. I know for a fact that many web designers need help with their code.
Plus, as Vodd9 alluded too, we all need to learn. How am I going to know HTML 5 or CSS3 without reading about it somewhere?
The best coders and designers do not let Frontpage, Dreamweaver, or Creative Studio generate code automatically, but instead use their knowledge to micromanage the HTML and other web technologies to bring out the best results in a website. - zohaibusman, on 05/22/2008, -4/+6Good Post. Really Like It
- jivebotic, on 05/22/2008, -1/+3http://www.devlisting.com is a good one to know...
- floppyparty, on 05/22/2008, -8/+1030 websites (really just blogs) with articles that are simply more top 10,20, 30 lists.
Thanks. - ofathens, on 05/23/2008, -0/+2If I'm going to be following all these websites, when will I have any time to do work on any design/development of my own?
