- junosama, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1First of all, all traffic is good traffic. Its always good to have other designers and studios looking at your portfolio. Second if you knew anything about seo you would know that providing free resources and quality content will get you back links and traffic which will give your blog a higher page rank, which in turn will give your website or blog more weight when it comes to ranking for keywords in the search engines. This is where you will get your super targeted traffic which you can use to convert visitors, but first you have to prove to search engines your site is worth something, before you have a chance in hell at competing for high competition terms.
Designer observer is great and they discuss a lot of different topics related to the world of design, but they rarely post any practical day to day type info on running a freelance design business.
I try to help designers make money and actually make a living, not just chit chat about design theory, although that is fun too. I also don't have an army of writers and editors with many years of experience on me ;) - SilentStrider, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1Pretty good if you're trying to get eyes to your portfolio. Pretty useless for everyone else, unfortunately. I don't see how this could help a blogger using a default Wordpress theme or a home based software developer who was so hard at work on his latest app that he didn't have time to beautify his website.
- inactive, on 03/06/2008, -1/+2Relly did not understand how it helps my site to drive traffice
- KangoSuz, on 03/07/2008, -0/+0Interesting, but seems geared towards only websites dealing with designs.
- michaelpinto, on 03/06/2008, -1/+1And has that gotten you any new clients?
- michaelpinto, on 03/06/2008, -2/+1And does this traffic improve your design business? The key is to attract potential clients to your website, not someone looking for a free font or Photoshop brush. The articles in youthedesigner.com are always so fluffy and not written with real world professional designers in mind, they should change the site name to youthewannabedesigner.com. Here's a real design blog:
