- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -3/+29Smashing Magazine always provides the best looking Wordpress themes for download. Along with it, they even give great tips on graphics design.
- ascguy, on 08/26/2008, -5/+20I'm just going to be different and say these all suck.
- Otto, on 08/26/2008, -1/+9I'd avoid downloading any of these themes without carefully checking them for hidden or encrypted code. Most of the themes I see on sites like the ones they are pointing to have holes, backdoors, hidden SEO links, etc.
I highly recommend that you ONLY download WP themes from the official themes directory. Those are individually checked by hand and confirmed to be acceptable: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ - rossnyc, on 08/26/2008, -0/+6I want the google homepage look and feel.
- TaintBrush, on 08/26/2008, -1/+6They're all the same damn thing. Stripes and columns and web 2.0 faux-trendiness.
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -2/+7I'm just going to be quite different and say I don't know why there is a clown dancing in my front yard singing, "End of World as We Know It". Apparently he feels fine.
- Spuy767, on 08/26/2008, -1/+5Well, at least your site will look good when digg is crashing your server.
- theutopian, on 08/26/2008, -0/+4Yes to adsense on Wordpress.
Wordpress is much more powerful and useful than blogger. - trevorjez, on 08/26/2008, -0/+4are these high quality because of their looks or their usability? i'm not sure i agree with 90% of these themes...
- 5xSTUN, on 08/26/2008, -3/+7I'm just going to be even more different and say that these WordPress themes have mowed my lawn for the last time.
- MPimagery, on 08/26/2008, -8/+11What a great list!
- cricketsymphony, on 08/26/2008, -0/+2looks like we have ourselves some bots. articles don't normally receive completely generic positive comments for the first 9 posts.
- NoozeHound, on 08/27/2008, -0/+2This really needs to be highlighted. What better way to inflict trojans.
- YodaJones, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1Some nice ones. Thanks.
- imLissy, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1they get better after the first three... those were a little disappointing
- theadvinci, on 09/03/2008, -0/+1A really great list.
- Whitey07, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Awesome list, helps me out looking at newer takes on designs etc, dugg.
- penguinsix, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1Some very pretty themes. What I'd really like though would be more of a plug in that would let me do something like CMS. Have a layout that had a 'top story' then a couple smaller bits, then links to the other, trying to get most of my last 10 posts 'above the fold'. I wish there was a way for my blog to look more like the BBC News paper or the Washington Post's 'above the fold' section.
- kalphegor, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1As a web designer and WordPress theme maker I can say: "What a lame list!"
Did they heard about SEO, usability, functionality, etc.? These kind of things make a site/blog better or a design/theme of higher quality. - NoozeHound, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1wasn't this around just a few days ago?
- sloppychris, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1What I care most about free themes is how clean the code is. If a theme isn't semantic and does everything backwards it isn't valuable as a free theme since I can't customize it. I'd hate to put my name on something that looks generic.
- zreed, on 08/26/2008, -2/+3I am sick of seeing free Wordpress themes everywhere. no matter how cool they are, you are a tool if you actually use them.
- Pundan, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1The higher quality?
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1I'm just going to be a bit different and say
The clown on my front yard is not singing, they are saying its the "End of the World as We Know It" and I think that is just fine. - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1That is what they are designed for.
- vare2, on 08/26/2008, -0/+1It's supposed to be intentional
- dixieleopard, on 08/27/2008, -0/+0to have a guy humping/riding a strawberry? really?
- melonhedd, on 08/26/2008, -1/+1What makes these high quality?
- robvdl, on 08/27/2008, -0/+0#22 looks too much like a sourceforge.net rip
- AnonymousD, on 08/26/2008, -1/+1on no. 5 "f the ground - to express yourself"
- xmen15, on 02/10/2009, -0/+0While there are some nice ones in that list, I have to agree with azngoHAPPY that Smashing Magazine has some of the best free WP themes out there. I'd look there before using any of these. Just my .02 cents.
http://www.business-supply.com - montecarlo, on 02/20/2009, -0/+0these are some great themes. i am definitely going to be using a couple for future blogs.
http://www.thefreecenter.com - dradicke, on 08/26/2008, -0/+0I wonder if it really is so easy to install a theme like that for a total layman like me..
- WhoDoneIt, on 08/26/2008, -1/+0I don't find WordPress blog "themes" much of ANY design let alone "graphic design". I'll be impressed the day I see a theme I'd actually want to use. In the meantime I'll stick to wrapping my own custom designs around a WordPress install.
- dixieleopard, on 08/26/2008, -2/+0does anyone think that on the imagination theme, the way the person and the giant strawberry line up is ...weird? Like really weird?
- GordonFree, on 08/26/2008, -3/+1Check out how I used one of the themes : www.Moozek.com
- Pete1the1gamer, on 08/26/2008, -3/+1So nice to toss in a picture of Obama on #6 to increase diggs...
- melonhedd, on 08/26/2008, -3/+1I wouldn't listen to any of their tips if they can't even figure out how to set a background-color
- TalksInMaths, on 08/26/2008, -3/+1Is there a list similar to this except for Blogger themes? I don't use WordPress - should I? Can I still get AdSense on Wordpress?
- konus, on 08/26/2008, -7/+1"Dirty Girl" is no longer available... i'm still waiting... ^^
- xatx3, on 08/26/2008, -9/+3wordpress sucks
- codyjohnle, on 08/26/2008, -8/+2where's the boobies?
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -10/+2Very very good themes.
- inactive, on 08/26/2008, -9/+1excellent list of free wordpress themes
