- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+81You're not allowed to use these on PHP/Perl/Ruby projects. ASP people are such a 'Microsoft' breed.
I'm sure people who prefer open source solutions and create icons etc wouldn't give two ***** if you used their creations in ASP projects as long as their put to good use.
P.S: the icons look like typical skanky .net ***** anyway, no great loss. - neoform, on 10/12/2007, -0/+63http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/silk/preview.php
has 1000 icons and they're more suitable for web use, these ones are too big. - 52tease, on 10/12/2007, -3/+57License Agreement

Reported as innacurate. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+38That site looks like a pile of junk.
- panique, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30Agreed mewithoutyou. As far as I'm concerned, they can stick their icons up their asphole.
- Adoozie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Another one of my favorite sets:
http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/
(Creative Commons license) - javaroast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22That’s not all! More than 300 (three hundred!) professionally designed icons for your ASP.NET applications are in this collection, and they all are completely free!
4. You agree to place a link to http://www.aspneticons.com in the deliverable (application, website, document, presentation, etc) where the artwork will be used as a compensation to AW/Systems for your use of the artwork. Please contact AW/Systems if this is impossible or inacceptable in your situation; oher forms of compensation are negotiable.
Free Icons that demand compensation aren't free at all. Typos provided by aspneticons - waynechng, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17"3. That's a weird clause. I guess they REALLY want to promote ASP.NET. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I think it would be terrible and unfunny to subscribe office@awsystems.biz up to PHP mailing lists. Shame on you all for thinking of doing such things.
- bdmbdm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Here is another set of good icons. KDE and Gnome users are able to use this, and they look quite nice on websites!
http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Gallery - PiratedTVPro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Inaccurate, and not as nice as the Fam Fam Silk icons...
- DatabaseMX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10No Free Lunch here ... be SURE to read the License Agreement!!
- electrichead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8The famfamfam silk icons are the best I've seen [see neoform's post above]
- Warnke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Good luck enforcing that...
- suntereo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8All that for a dinky icon!
I love point 6! You mean we can't sue because of the damage their icons cause to my app! Hmm... I dunno... sounds risky! - johlin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Um, not for your web application development. For your ASP.net development.
Inaccurate, no digg. - cthulhu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The Tango patcher -- patch your windows shell with the Tango icons.
http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/27940418/ - haigMeister, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6best icon set ever. there's icons for every need, and if not you can just merge two =p
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5inaccurate
- sembetu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I get it, these are free as in Not F@ING FREE AT ALL.
- chubbymidget, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Dugg only because of the links to real free icons other people are providing.
ASP = No thanks. - inmatarian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Dugg for Tango
- imerlin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+45 reasons not to use these icons:
- The licence doesn't allow you to use it for other applications than ASP
- The licence requires you to link
- You're unable to redestribute your own software with the icons if you use them
- www.famfamfam.com offer better icons with a better licence (and there are others also available)
- The licence can be revoked at any time by the owner of the icons, forcing you to remove the icons from your products
Bottom line: Free... These icons are _not_ free - WhiskerTheMad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"...has 1000 icons and they're more suitable for web use, these ones are too big."
This is what I love about digg. Even when the article sucks, someone will be pissed off enough about to to offer up a decent alternative. - realbeandip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Oh man puhlease. Why would they put such a stupid restriction on these icons? I mean, yea, free icons, it's not like the 'net isn't loaded w/free stuff.
- doodlebumm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think the icons are very windows 3.0 looking, not anything I'd want to put on a website. There are 12,000 other icon sets that are better that could be used in place of these icons.
- wickedman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"You can't build a slick application without good icons."
what a bunch of crap! who wants to build "slick" apps anyway?
how about usable applications? - rtyp3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3what *****
- digx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Unfortunately, www.famfamfam.com owns this crap.
- canadaboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4So, if I have ASP enabled, though I also have CF running - can I only use half the icons? ;-P
- froinlaven, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The famfamfam icons are sooooo much awesomer than this crap. Seriously.
- tagawa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The FamFamFam Phenomenon: Killed by the Digg effect without being dugg.
- Shrimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is one of the most idiotic things I've seen in a while.
Even if I did code in ASP.NET, I'd stay the hell away from this lot. - suntereo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I was excited... until I actually saw the icons. They have a "2D", last year kinda feel about them.
- diggapleaze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1unfortunately there's a bad http.conf configuration right, hopefully famfamfam should be up later
- brownspank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey, it's his ASP. He can do whatever he wants with it.
- lordkenthegreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is *****. I'm a web designer and I would take them and shove them up my ASP. Nuvola looks a whole lot better, and plus, they're LGPL'd. (http://www.icon-king.com/?p=15).
- ThePottsDome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Deee Weee Beeeeee and then some.
- inlove, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah right! I am going to have to learn ASP to use these icons on my ASP powered blog!
- DotKenneth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Agreed. 1000 icons only requiring a link back and they are much more graphically pleasing. These are trash in comparison.
- antigrav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd use those icons on a PHP site just to piss them off, if only it wasn't for the fact that I wouldn't be caught dead using those ugly icons. It cracks me up every time I see a bunch of terms-of-use write-up over something that I honestly can't click the close button fast enough on.
- geeked, on 10/28/2007, -3/+4Ahh I like PHP.
- sancho320, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1weeeee! FUN!!!!
(buried) - theadvinci, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Whatta? This is garbage!
- malkir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What retards, make a decent license and then maybe people would use your crappy icons. Though it's still questionable.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmm, 300 crappy icons and a free ad for them if you use ASP.NET....no thanks.
- yaaqov, on 11/17/2007, -0/+1Boooooo... their license agreement is garbage. It explicitly doesn't allow you to use the icons in apps written in anything other than ASP / .NET.
- ScottBookG4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah I thought this was cool until I read the license agreement. What an ass...no PHP? To hell with it. If I want to use 'em, I'll use 'em. He's the one who gave 'em away for free on his site.
Undugg... - Aaryn015, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1How pathetic. What sort of gay fanboy releases "Free" icons for web development, only as long as they are used on an app built using a particular language. I've actually never seen such a pathetic, pedantic license condition in my professional life. I suggest this poster go away and re-think their life....pronto.
The Icons are total garbage BTW.
Buried as inaccurate. They are not "Free for Web Application Development" at all - H2SO4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1could they make 'em any smaller?
