- paperfrog, on 01/14/2008, -1/+29> I would say all my wood furniture started out as sheets of wood.
Mine started as round trees. But I live in the boonies. - Takuro, on 01/14/2008, -2/+26My ass hurts just looking at those.
If you want to be simplistic, just sit on the floor. It's cheaper, more eco-friendly, requires less folding, and it's probably more comfortable. - Error601, on 01/14/2008, -2/+25I would say all my wood furniture started out as sheets of wood.
- suxmonkey, on 01/14/2008, -3/+19Whoa, a flat pack house, eh? At least there's an easy solution if she literally wants 'half of everything' :P
- techresearcher, on 01/14/2008, -5/+19I dont know why these flimsy pieces of wood are called "practical"
Of course "creative" and "clever" apply...
But its no good for everyday use. - Pilot85, on 01/14/2008, -2/+15"In addition to being clever and simply aesthetically awesome, flat pack furniture is also eco-friendly and highly creative."
I noticed the word "comfortable" didn't feature in that litany of features. - Matt2k, on 01/14/2008, -0/+11Sell it
- prezzy, on 01/14/2008, -0/+11If you got card board furniture you are a ghetto ass *****
- socialpyramid, on 01/14/2008, -2/+12Holy Ikea!
- Jo9100, on 01/14/2008, -0/+9and I say there's not a reply button for nothing.
- AdmiralHalsey, on 01/14/2008, -1/+8"...no fasteners, adhesives, or complex tools required."
This is where the intelligence of these designs lay. I love progress. - ZebraCrew, on 01/14/2008, -2/+9a lot of this stuff *looks* ridiculously uncomfortable. i don't if they are since i've never used any of that furniture but that's how it looks to me.
- ManicA, on 01/14/2008, -1/+7Urban Furniture? Does it cease to exist outside a city?
- VenDrake, on 01/14/2008, -1/+7No, from the sounds of it, you live in the sticks.
- anderzole, on 01/14/2008, -1/+6my studio just got a lot bigger!
- joshua5, on 01/14/2008, -5/+10no way that ***** is going to last. after a couple uses it'll just be an ingenious piece of broken wood
- johnn11238, on 01/14/2008, -2/+7wow. we really didn't ask.
- inactive, on 01/14/2008, -0/+4You're going to hate it when your 250lbs guest sits on it though.
- saifatlast, on 01/14/2008, -0/+4Jesus ***** christ buy a mouse and then use it to click on the reply button.
- saifatlast, on 01/14/2008, -1/+5I'm really glad you shared your bitterness with a bunch of hapless strangers who were commenting on an article about furniture. (Though admittedly it was tangentially related).
- rarson, on 01/14/2008, -3/+6You have no idea how much I wish all my ***** was foldable. But no, the ex had to spend however much on whatever furniture she liked, so now I'm stuck with half of this *****. It's so angering to look around at all the ***** she insisted on buying, as it sits unused. Now I have to do something with all this crap when I move.
- dracostimpy, on 01/14/2008, -0/+3Buried for feigning surprise about a story from your own blog.
- smkoehler, on 01/14/2008, -2/+5wow that emergency shelter "flat pack house" is $22,000 - that's not even close to cheap.
- Noelix, on 01/14/2008, -2/+5That looks hideous and uncomfortable.
- Urusai, on 01/14/2008, -2/+4Perfect for outfitting your shanty while still claiming to be an artiste instead of a mendicant.
- shadowman99, on 01/15/2008, -0/+2An emergency shelter for $22000?
If someone's in the kind of emergency where they're reduced to living in that house, they probably don't have $22000 to spare.
If the artist really want said house to benefit those in emergencies, they should consider making the plans available free for non-commercial use. - Kronos6948, on 01/14/2008, -2/+4Yeah, "comfortable" doesn't apply either, it seems. Can I sit on that cardboard chair!! Boy, that sure seems comfy! LOL
- nswint, on 01/15/2008, -0/+2That first hanging chair is over 1300 USD
- orangetiki, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2Thank you, but I think we are all capable of going to Web Urbanist on our own Thanks
- inactive, on 01/14/2008, -0/+2It's got electrolytes!
- mogebier, on 01/14/2008, -1/+3Why would that be MORE eco-friendly than regular furniture made from recycled products??
- SLockhart, on 01/14/2008, -1/+3I won't spam but the company I work for can sell you emergency shelters that are insulated and much stronger than that for a lot cheaper per sq.ft.
- Anonymous3, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1Even FedEx furniture looks more comfortable than that.
- inactive, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1I like furniture which doesn't rely on unfastenened joints or small amounts of friction to stay together...
- limedcoconut, on 01/14/2008, -1/+2dugg, its nice to see a design post on the front page.
- bentrinh, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1http://weburbanist.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/ ...
Yeah, I don't think so. - ptxyz, on 01/14/2008, -3/+4That looks way too uncomfy.
- inactive, on 01/14/2008, -1/+2But it came in a flat box! And it's eco friendly! You know, the process of turning wood into paper and then cardboard is apparently more eco friendly than going straight from wood to furniture...
- rarson, on 01/15/2008, -1/+2Hey, this furniture is pretty awesome. If you've had the misfortune of going through a breakup, which a lot of people have, then maybe it'll help to keep this in mind next time you buy furniture.
Or, for anyone that needs to or wants to be able to move, moving big heavy ***** is a pain in the ass. I suppose I could've said that without referencing personal details, but everyone always thinks *their* wife is somehow different... I know I did. - inactive, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1Buried, digg needs a products section, so that design doenst get crapped up
- RichStradler, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1I dunno... People like to buy furniture that reflects their taste and adds in the value of their home. This doesn't look appealing unless you have a taste for cardboard and throughly looks like a bad investment. Good for renters maybe?
- Saea, on 01/14/2008, -1/+2Wow I thought that bench was a full-sized bleacher for a second.
Now that would be very impressive. - jcani, on 01/14/2008, -0/+1"If you want to be simplistic, just sit on the floor. It's cheaper, more eco-friendly, requires less folding, and it's probably more comfortable."
QFT - superfuxxorr, on 01/14/2008, -2/+2O RLY?
- designfarts, on 01/14/2008, -4/+4Wow - Take a look at that. You weren't kidding when you said that some of these were cardboard. That is incredible.
- AdmiralHalsey, on 01/17/2008, -0/+0No, he's going to hate paying for it. That son of a bitch. Anyway, seems like most of those could take a cool 250
- RemnantSith, on 01/15/2008, -0/+0They don't seem very comfortable =/
- camg188, on 01/15/2008, -0/+0The article is titled "More Creative Furniture for Cramped Urban Living". It seems to me that once it's put together, this furniture takes up as much space as any other furniture. The title should have been "Creative Furniture for a Retailer's Cramped Warehouse Storage".
- inactive, on 01/14/2008, -3/+2Geez... why is it everyones goal to make everything "eco friendly"? Its a chair. If you dont sit in it, someone else will. Everything that exists CAME from the environment, so I fail to believe that sending it BACK to the environment is such a horrible thing.
- baldgye, on 01/14/2008, -4/+3i wish ikea stuff looked that nice
