- dMinor04, on 11/04/2007, -4/+66do you really need an exclamation point for the most common car on the market?
- Dgen_X, on 11/03/2007, -4/+35Looks like it should be wearing a Scion badge.
- twblock, on 11/02/2007, -4/+30I know this is supposed to be an all new Corolla, but it looks like a mild face lift to me. The front looks like the current gen Corolla with the new Camry's front applied. Aside from the ever so slightly re-designed taillights, the rear end looks the same.
Aside from the XRS, even the engine is the same. - musters, on 11/03/2007, -8/+34It's not even 2008 yet
- MicrosoftBob, on 11/04/2007, -6/+27"...after the jump."
Please stop saying that. - RiceCzechs, on 11/03/2007, -3/+24"Evolutionary" doesn't begin to describe it. Still, it's hard to fault Toyota when the old one sold perfectly respectably, even after being left on the vine for way too long. Not a car to set the heart racing, but one to recommend to grandmothers worldwide.
- Error601, on 11/01/2007, -19/+35Snore.
- GaidinTS, on 11/01/2007, -1/+9I should hope they don't change the engine. It's probably one of the most durable 4 cylinders out there. People don't buy corollas for their style, they buy it because it's an inexpensive tool to get them from a to b, and won't break down in years to come.
- LuckyNYC, on 11/01/2007, -5/+13As seen by the introduction of the new Corolla, Toyota is clearly still the industry leader in blandness. Way to go Toyota.
- PHLAK, on 11/01/2007, -3/+10I own a 2005 Corolla and this car as not given me a hitch since the day I bought it. I never thought the old style was ugly or anything, but this newer model looks a little more sporty and sleek.
- vpofhaterade, on 11/05/2007, -7/+13How did this make the homepage?
- mancat, on 11/01/2007, -3/+8That's pretty average for a 4-cyl in the two liter displacement range nowadays.
- Valkarie70, on 11/01/2007, -1/+6Maybe they don't need to? I love my Camry, no heart racing, but it refuses to give up on me. Same reason I bought a ThinkPad, it's not supposed to be sexy, it's supposed to be a workhorse. Toyota's have a resell value for a reason
- mozzep, on 11/02/2007, -5/+9The most driven car, the most purchased car, the most seen car on the market. An update to this significant automobile doesn't deserve an exclamation point?
- Richandler, on 11/01/2007, -4/+8These Toyota cars keep getting more pudgy.
- rondorondorondo, on 11/05/2007, -3/+7The front looks a little more sporty, but I bet it's still one heck of a boring drive.
- armourer, on 11/01/2007, -0/+3this is america. you have the freedom to buy whatever the ***** you want.
- RIMberry, on 11/01/2007, -7/+10I'll take a hatch with a diesel engine please.
- inactive, on 11/02/2007, -4/+7VTEC just kicked in yo
- Weather, on 11/01/2007, -5/+8Looks tacky. It has a pig nose and tacked on skirting that looks straight out of jcwhitney.
Oh what an eyesore..... Toyota!
(_!_) - mongrel, on 10/31/2007, -3/+6What country are you writing from? Corollas are still being sold in the US. Isn't the Auris a micro-sized model?
- inactive, on 11/01/2007, -1/+4Can we get the GTS back again please? I would really like to get those back wheels spinning again.
- BinaryFragger, on 11/01/2007, -1/+3I think it's safe to assume that the new "stupid" Accord will sell in huge numbers. People like the Accord because of their comfort and bulletproof reliability, not their styling.
- Dimalinch, on 11/01/2007, -4/+6kinda looks like a yaris
- ninfudo, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2looks kind of like a 4 door Scion tC
- brufleth, on 11/05/2007, -0/+2They do make some of the most boring cars in the world but their reliability and price make them sell like f'ing mad.
- inactive, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2Looks like a baby Camry.
- CyberSmackdown, on 11/05/2007, -6/+8Be nice. Poor people need new cars also.
- AgentofId, on 11/04/2007, -9/+11Wow... um, Toyota sedan with a facelift requires an exclamation point? Do you get excited about new Saturn models as well, or is Toyota the only cheese that excites you?
- joesmeat, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2I own a 2000 Corolla. No problems from new, just servicing.
I still hate it though. There's no rear leg room, theres no front leg room with the baby capsule in the back - but the boot is huge.
The engine has oodles of torque until 4,500rpm then nothing (VVTi started the following year). Fifth gear is too small, really needs a sixth. Oh, and it's ugly.
But it's bloody bulletproof, dammit. - s1mph0ny, on 11/01/2007, -0/+2So you haven't changed the timing belt in 160k miles? This isn't vegas, it's your car.
- noonz, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3You'd think that maybe one they could muster the will to take a risk...
- TheLoneHoot, on 11/01/2007, -1/+3Subaru has been putting out 160+ with an n/a 4 for years.
- TheLoneHoot, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3The Subaru EJ25 engine is 165hp @ 6200 RPM... nowhere near 8000. And that's from 1996. Even their EJ22 was putting out 132hp back in 1989. Both of those are the normally aspirated versions.
Lotus used the Celica's 130hp 4-cyl and massaged it to get 190hp without forced induction. - kkDonut, on 11/05/2007, -5/+7Behold! The most common car in America!
The typical 09 blandmobile. - mislam, on 11/01/2007, -1/+3Very sleek looking interior. I like the minimalistic approach.
- theblooms, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2A 1970 Cadillac made 400 horsepower @ 4400 RPM. 550 ft.lb. torque @ 3000 rpm. Out of only 500 cubic inches (8.2L)! Beat that!
- silverwolfe, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1Not to mention my '95 240SX getting 155hp with n/a 4.
- spambutcher, on 11/01/2007, -0/+12.4 liter with only 158hp?
1991 called - they want their "high-performance" econo-box back. - copyland, on 11/01/2007, -1/+2Actually this is actually an article I actually don't care about, Actually.
- brufleth, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1@ s1mph0ny
My thoughts exactly. After 160k you should have replaced brakes, rotors, and tires several times and things like the timing belt and probably other critical parts that wear out between 100k and 150k. - PRlME, on 11/01/2007, -3/+4looks like a Mazda
- brufleth, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1"Hey man, it is a Corolla PLUS!!!"
- musntSurfatWork, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1I'll get laid more driving in Mr.Beans 3 wheeler.
- timjim31, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1looks like someones calling the kettle black...
- isntreal, on 11/01/2007, -0/+1wow the bottom blue one has a turbo.. on a toyota.. who would've thought?
- mlvassallo, on 11/01/2007, -2/+3It looks like a mix between a Maza 3 and a Civic... two cars that are better looking than the old Corolla model to start with.
- Boofster, on 11/01/2007, -1/+2Why is there a '!" in the title? Since when does anyone give a ***** about Corollas?
- MrDo, on 10/31/2007, -1/+2Enough people to digg it I guess.
Isn't it irrelevant if he submits every story since they would just not be dugg if people didn't care? - mitrovarr, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1"American cars" are more often than not made in Mexico, and sometimes "Japanese cars" are made in the states. Toyota, I believe, has a nice big factory in the US.
