Give me a tactile keyboard or GTFO. - ttocsxela, on 11/17/2008, -0/+20So in the future it's going to be all about finger prints?
- lewzer, on 11/17/2008, -0/+18The future seems to really hate keyboards with pressable keys. . .
- Infinitex2, on 11/16/2008, -0/+16Oh come ON!
I just bought a laptop!
Technology gets like.....2 times better each year! When am I supposed to buy a laptop? T_T - danthemanhan, on 11/17/2008, -0/+12X + 2 years
- psion01, on 11/17/2008, -0/+11What was the bandwidth?
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -0/+11Why would anyone want a computer embedded into a desk? I don't even want a monitor embedded in my computer, much less a piece of ***** furniture.
- palehorse864, on 11/17/2008, -0/+11Forget macbooks etc.
What about the classic computer book, an old concept from the '80s.
http://inspector-gadget.net/wp-content/gallery/go- ... - Sisko41, on 11/16/2008, -7/+17I just came
- psion01, on 11/17/2008, -0/+10You and I must be throwbacks to the 20th Century.
- spammishking, on 11/17/2008, -1/+11Soon laptops will be as thin as paper, and constantly break in half
- Culero, on 11/17/2008, -0/+10in the future we will have no fingerprints....
iiiiin the yeaaaaaar twoooo thouuuuuuusand - schnikies79, on 11/17/2008, -0/+9Agreed. I want real keys, not pictures.
- articroll, on 11/17/2008, -0/+7that vaio is beautiful, liked the mac with the detachable keyboard too, some great designs in that list.
- uswarrior1, on 11/17/2008, -0/+6makes me wish i could buy stuff in advance
- UzEE, on 11/16/2008, -0/+6Read that already and was waiting for someone to Digg it!
Its an awesome list. - ryananger, on 11/17/2008, -0/+6It's a shame that most of these will never actually come to be.
- SSIV, on 11/16/2008, -0/+5If there are prototypes out, I want them shipped to my door NOW!
- Zaggynl, on 11/17/2008, -0/+5Hey, stop clogging the tubes :(
- asgardshill, on 11/17/2008, -0/+5David Warner in Tron called. He wants his prop back.
- malignatius, on 11/17/2008, -0/+4Laptops are so 2008.
- CraigReed, on 11/17/2008, -0/+4The Sony Vaio Zoom was the only design out of them that had any real interest to me, though I would question the practicality of the screen due to it's potential durability.
The macbook 0801 is bested by the current macbook air In my opinion and the Canova is too bulky with too big a gap between the hinge. - inactive, on 11/17/2008, -0/+4Most of these look nice, but honestly they're too thin. At some point you have to think about the durability and practicality of a laptop. Everyone is going towards this futuristic i-robot approach to computers - but then you look at the hardware and think how hard it would be to swap components in and out because they're just so ***** thin. I mean I'm not just a power user, but I do enjoy having some punch behind my machine. Most of these concepts appear to be tailored towards word programs, social networking websites and email. Which I understand is a huge thing now-a-days, but honestly if computers really did turn out to be like these, I think we would see a downfall in the effectiveness and durability.
Laptops are meant to be commuted and used on a daily basis for work, school a leisure. They take beatings, and this glossy glass like touch screen 2mm thick approach their going for just seems to me to be a tad too over the top. How about putting more into the lifespan of computers (i.e how long a computer can stay standard) and less about making the aesthetic appeal the most important piece of the puzzle.
Yes, Apple did something amazing with the aesthetic 2.0 revolution, but GUI is going to have to take a back seat at some point when people realize that it's what's on the inside that counts. Large touch screen displays will wear out after day to day use and on the go versatility.
/rant. - benologist, on 11/17/2008, -1/+5It is but it's nowhere near enough. They're all just very thin laptops with digital keyboards.... except that stupid traveller one that's just an excerise in ugly and a throwback to awkward.
They are fricking nice though. - MacBookForMe, on 11/16/2008, -0/+4Don't be too cheap, mate...:)
- passedoutghost, on 11/17/2008, -0/+4Buy one whenever you want. Just don't expect to stay at the crest of the wave.
- Neo189, on 11/16/2008, -0/+32 and 3 are the best designs IMO.
- MacBookForMe, on 11/16/2008, -0/+3Dreaming about ....Canvas Laptop Concept...
- djpray2k, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3I will NEVER use touch screen typing on a laptop!
I like my keys to clunk a little, I'll put up with it on my phone but not my laptop. - Zaggynl, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3Ah something to tap..
- Culero, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3I've fantasized about if the near future ever has time travel, i'd go far in to the future and give the past me a super cool...computer thing.
- shame126, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3The vaio is just so sexy! As cool as always.
- Samo89, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2SHINEY!
- inactive, on 01/30/2009, -0/+2So did I.
- DeathRay2K, on 11/17/2008, -0/+22 and 5 are my favourites.
I've never owned a laptop, but when they look that good it's hard to turn them down. - mingleTwat, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2cool list . now make them you corporate bastards. stop teasing
- Pakblogger, on 11/16/2008, -0/+2Great ;)
- WoollyMittens, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2Most of these designs are painfully impractical, with stuff bolting on and screens that need to be tilted in neck-wrenching positions.
- ImUrStranger, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2Holy *****. Thats pretty awesome!
- passedoutghost, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2To make a comment.
- drgmdp, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2Super awesome post.
- killtrocity, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2These designs aren't new. I saw every single one of these in a similar post almost a year ago.
They sure are nice to look at though. - oda1, on 11/17/2008, -0/+2I want a laptop that's the size of my phone, but I can press a button and have it expand to a more appropriate size.
- ookamiwarrior, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1I almost completely agree, but haptik feedback might sway me hate for the idea a little.
- ookamiwarrior, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Those keyboards need to have some kind of haptik feedback, or they will be useless. I'm sure you could squeeze even more thin-ness out of the aluminum Apple keyboards, why not use those?
- psion01, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Eeew.
- Rockkybox, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1Come on, its worth it for a doubling in screen size, when at a desk you can fold the screen out sideways and plug in a keyboard, so the touch screen keyboard will only be when on the move
- bunnypants, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1end of line.
- nikki2300dk, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Love the Vaio, but not sure it's practical. The MacTab looks to me to be more practical and the most like something we could see soon. Tablet & detachable keyboard could be a pretty killer combo.
- ookamiwarrior, on 11/17/2008, -0/+1I doubt you'll be plugging it in anytime soon, not a lot of those had ports. I think it'll run on Bluetooth, or the next wireless technology.
