- quigles3000, on 02/04/2008, -4/+85I love how when Pixar releases a new trailer, they're pretty much always their own self-contained short film. Manages to capture your interest and give you an idea of what to expect from the movie without ever actually spoiling any of the scenes from it. Other studios could learn a lot from them.
BTW - Anybody else getting a cuteness overload whenever they see WALL-E? I wouldn't be surprised if he became the next lolcat-type meme or something. Seriously, look at the digg image. "I can haz oyle?" - inactive, on 02/04/2008, -7/+39Can't wait to see it. I love the voice when it says.. Walle

http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/wall-e/ - Hoogs, on 02/05/2008, -2/+27Is it possible for Pixar to make a bad movie? This one looks to be great as well.
- LeZeb, on 02/04/2008, -1/+25This movie will be a blast, I hope as promise that it will have no dialogs. first minimalistic Scifi CG movie ? :)
- Del129, on 02/04/2008, -1/+24I've seen some trailers that are basically the whole movie condensed. Trailer like that ruin the movie. I appreciate Pixar not spoiling anything.
- wedges, on 02/05/2008, -0/+15that's not Tom Hanks’ voice, is it?
- ZephyrNinety, on 02/04/2008, -5/+19Another perfect movie from Pixar. Gotta love it!
- Conwaysb0718, on 02/05/2008, -0/+14Johnny-5 is alive?
http://interocitor.com/images/johnny5.jpg - diggB, on 02/05/2008, -0/+13I have to respect a studio that can make a cockroach seem cute ...
- Misaiato, on 02/05/2008, -0/+12This movie is going to rock. Wall-E DOES look like Johnny 5 - another movie which rocked. Imagine the animators actually getting inspiration from somewhere! Surely no artist ever derives their inspiration from something else...
- Klarth, on 02/05/2008, -0/+10He looks like ROB.
- noelsusman, on 02/05/2008, -2/+11Anybody who doesn't smile when that voice says Wall-E cannot have a soul. Take down your macho man facade and admit it when you think something is cute.
- traphik, on 02/04/2008, -0/+9thought he was going to put that hose somewhere else... glad he didn't.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 02/05/2008, -0/+9This comment is made every time a new Pixar movie trailer is released and it never ends up being the case.
- bs0l, on 02/05/2008, -0/+8Good, cause this crappy embedded flash player is not loading.

- logicalnoise, on 02/05/2008, -0/+6it's called an homage to the most beloved non-real robot done with practical effects. it's an intentional reference.
- DCJoeDogaswell, on 02/05/2008, -1/+6Buried, you look painfully *****
- wheezyninja, on 02/05/2008, -1/+6I beg to differ. Please remember the add where the mouse busted through the wall and beat the hell out of the guy...
- InferiorWang, on 02/05/2008, -0/+4Why is he getting dugg down? The Battle of Thermopylae isn't really a very obscure reference.
- daborg, on 02/05/2008, -0/+4Well... If by "based on" you mean that it was made from a graphic novel written by someone who once walked past a history book... yes.
- DCJoeDogaswell, on 02/05/2008, -0/+4but how will slashfilm survive without spamming us with ads and articles ripped from AICN? HOW I ASK, HOW!?

Whats with all the 13 year old girls on digg? - cobrapeed, on 02/05/2008, -5/+8Did anyone else here think there was some strong sexual innuendo when the robot was humping the Vacuum Cleaning tube placed suspiciously close to his area???
- GCarden, on 02/04/2008, -0/+3http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/wall-e/video_a ...
- InferiorWang, on 02/05/2008, -0/+3I thought it was a pretty smart advertisement. Instead of telling you what the movie is about, they thoroughly convince you of WALL-E's cuteness so that you'll be receptive to whatever they show.
- MrBabyMan, on 02/05/2008, -0/+3He's got a brother, Jim, who usually fills in when Tom can't (or won't) do the gig. It's probably him. http://imdb.com/name/nm0360028/
- glory, on 02/05/2008, -0/+3Whatever. This movie is the *****.

- OGla, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2Oh no humour?
- Rysac1, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2Found a random website that seems to be linked to it... they have robots like SALL-E and GAR-E http://www.buynlarge.com/
- pilot3033, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2because it's pixar
- pilot3033, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2it was a superbowl ad! That's as far away from 'viral' as you get!
- onionoino, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2reminds me more of batteries not included than short circuit for some reason
- inactive, on 02/05/2008, -2/+4well I'm pretty sure you knew what was going to happen in that, considering it was based off, you know, history.
- etx313, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2Aside from the great art direction, the sound design sounds really good too. Can't wait to check this one out.
- kickcows, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2i love the fact that they use the song 'brazil'.
- Ireland, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2No Wall*E
- ggfobster, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2Wth are you ranting about again?
- Ukonu, on 02/05/2008, -1/+2Am I missing something? I can understand the hype on this site for movies like The Dark Knight and Iron Man because those are based on comics and a lot of the digg community loves comics and tech and stuff but where the hell did this movie come from? Why's everyone so hyped about it? What was so magnificent about that Super Bowl commercial?
...I'll admit that Pixar has an excellent track record with movies and this could be great but I don't get the hype. - Icyfenix, on 02/05/2008, -0/+1It will probably be a good film BECAUSE disney has no faith in it.
- Dimbleby, on 02/05/2008, -0/+1As an animator, I worked on a WALL-E DVD project for a subsidiary company last year.
The craziest thing though: they wouldn't give us anything beyond the most basic model, they couldn't give us any reference for how he moves or anything that you would really need to be able to properly animate. No sound FX, nothing.
We'd animate something and they'd be like "Naah he needs to move more like this" and they'd explain it in an email and we wouldn't get it andsoforth. Frustrating.
They've been incredibly tightlipped! It was the same when we were working on Ratatouille. We had the OLD discarded models (pre-Brad Bird) and we got some of his reference sketches when he started reviving it to its final appearance.
There was a Sneak Preview showing for Wall-E up here in Portland but I was unable to get into it. I'm not too excited. Sorry. - thed0ct0r, on 02/05/2008, -0/+1i gotta admit...i had a lump in my throat during the first half of the trailer because my first thought was "TOY STORY 3!" but the lump quickly left as my heart melted for that little robot. by far my favorite add of the night
