- Narcism, on 05/02/2009, -16/+192it's easy to write faster in cursive which is good for note-taking in class...
*edit* rather, a print/cursive hybrid is faster. - catchbigd22, on 05/02/2009, -15/+169Kinda hope the two party system goes along with it. High hopes, huh?
- Applequest, on 05/02/2009, -8/+157Analog Clocks: Not going anywhere, our grandkids will understand them.
Cursive: They still teach this in elementary school don't they? Do we really foresee them stopping teaching it anytime soon? There are only so many things you can teach 2nd graders to fill up a 7 hour school day.
VCRs: Yep.
Newspapers: This is the tough one. I think there will still be a niche market for newspapers in 50 years. Will they be wiped out completely? I doubt it. - megaton, on 05/02/2009, -6/+150*****, when I was your age, Pluto was still named Hades.
- JFallon126, on 05/02/2009, -0/+139I vividly remember being told in 5th grade by some bitch guidance counselor that if I didn't learn cursive perfectly I would never succeed because you have to write EVERYTHING in cursive from middle school on. What a joke.
- Lefts, on 05/02/2009, -2/+130Alcohol was illegal?
- inactive, on 05/02/2009, -5/+133finger print, retina scan etc
- scy1192, on 05/02/2009, -29/+154I'm only 16 and I feel old.
- ancalagon73, on 05/02/2009, -3/+127That depends where the card reader is.
- rl41, on 05/02/2009, -1/+122Digital watches are not nearly as badass.
- disgruntled, on 05/02/2009, -6/+126no that goes under the category of 'things our grandkids will never forgive us for'
- failtrain, on 05/02/2009, -4/+118And trees.
And tuna.
And coral reefs.
And 56k modems.
And 5¼ inch floppies. Anyone else remember having a b:/ drive? - mpn401, on 05/02/2009, -3/+115Intelligence on the Internet. Hell, it's gone already.
- Phyltre, on 05/02/2009, -2/+110As long as there are illicit financial transactions, there will be cash of some form. It's hard to slip someone a credit card under the table.
- Bumblebee418, on 05/02/2009, -6/+112pssht grandkids? The world is ending in 3 years.
- PaulClayberg, on 05/02/2009, -5/+95Burning fossils!? How could you all have been so stupid?
- GeyserShitdick, on 05/02/2009, -10/+98If you love it so much why isn't your post in cursive?
- pault107, on 05/02/2009, -0/+85The best use of tl;dr ever.

- BooLag, on 05/02/2009, -8/+89*****, when I was your age, Plato was still publishing.
- DarkLance, on 05/02/2009, -17/+95good riddance, what a waste of time to learn that crap. That time could be used for something useful, like critical thinking.
- slvrbullet87, on 05/02/2009, -0/+78as long as there are strip clubs there will be cash. Nobody wants to watch a naked chick swipe a card
- inactive, on 05/02/2009, -8/+84Oh yeah, I love cursive - nothing greater than getting a paper back in college and having it covered in comments that you can't even attempt to decipher. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it has its uses when it comes to note-taking and such, but it seems to me that the speed of cursive lends itself to illegibility.
- RyeBrye, on 05/02/2009, -2/+77Cursive exists because it is significantly faster for a trained person to write in cursive than it is to write longhand - that said, the way they teach cursive now doesn't really emphasize the speed aspect. If you look at old cursive training books from the 1930's, you will see tons of exercises focused soley on making a certain part of a cursive stroke an automatic and fast motion. (See thing like the "bradley method")
That said, cursive is no longer needed. Typing classes would be the modern equivalent of cursive.
The analog clock will never die. It provides an at-a-glance indicator of what the current position in time is. It will no sooner die than the progress bar on a file copy diialog will die. - PunkRampant, on 05/02/2009, -5/+78*****.
- blast_flame, on 05/02/2009, -7/+77I know, I was brainwashed as a kid into writing cursive and I can barely read my own handwriting.
- ScientistBlah, on 05/02/2009, -3/+73Buried for being a douche.
