- Dumbledorito, on 12/30/2008, -2/+9I think "Final Crisis" is in the wrong part of the list.
- BeShirtHappy, on 12/31/2008, -1/+7Agree with Batman RIP on the worst list.
- ElimGarak, on 01/01/2009, -0/+5Totally - Nova is awesome. As are a bunch of other things that he forgot.
- MrGaw, on 01/01/2009, -1/+5I know nothing about this topic.
- vickers500, on 01/01/2009, -2/+6bacon
- coltrane68, on 12/31/2008, -2/+5Buried for several reasons.
1) Most of the comics listed are not science fiction.
2) There is no doubt that the best SF comic of the past year is Nova. Writers Abnett and Lanning have simply re-invented the '70's space serial.
3) What about Geoff Johns's Green Lantern? - Astroseksy, on 01/01/2009, -0/+3Forgive my ignorance: What does SF stand for?
- Jarasmen, on 01/01/2009, -0/+3Article not dugg, no Deadpool! Beaaaaa ARTHUUUUUUUR!
- shoppingkart, on 01/01/2009, -0/+3All I know that xkcd was dugg into the stratosphere this year.
- Jeebugorn, on 01/01/2009, -0/+3in this case it means Science Fiction
- Vzylexy, on 01/01/2009, -0/+3Yeah, this list is ***** without GL.
- Vectorkov, on 01/01/2009, -0/+3Where are all the SF comics?
- ElimGarak, on 01/01/2009, -0/+2Yah, that guy is on crack. There are too many horrible comics in the first part of the list. And good ones in the second. And he missed a ton of awesome things.
- pootpoot, on 01/01/2009, -0/+2I absolutely loved All-Star Superman. Every single time I went to the local store to pick up the next issue, it made me feel like when I was kid running down the stairs to catch Superman: The Animated Series on WB. Awesome stuff.
Oh and Green Lantern: Sinestro War SHOULD be on there. - vp0ng, on 01/01/2009, -0/+2The thumbnail looks like batman is ejaculating jets planes or rockets of some kind... possibly a bat-belt malfunction?
- hushpuppy20, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2Totally agree about "ghost Boxes". What a waste of paper. As for "Secret Invasion", I thought it was an alright crossover, but marvel needs to give these big crossovers a rest for awhile.
- dingedarmor, on 01/04/2009, -0/+2Hell, they left off the best Science Fiction series--Y the Last Man which ended in early 08....damn list missed the mark by a long shot with that omission.
And no mention of Warren Ellis' Doktor Sleepless? His science fiction comic books are often enjoyable reads.... - inactive, on 01/01/2009, -0/+2the only secret invasion I followed was Deadpool, cuz he rocks.
- Remelox, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1Is it true that Deadpool and not the Green Goblin is the real hero of Secret Invasion? I find that depressing.
- Remelox, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1Ghost Boxes had the potential to be a year long amazing X-Men crossover. Alternate universe mutants battling on our plane of existance could have really done something to the whole Marvel universe. When you consider the stupid decimation's consequences, it would have made a more interesting story than, "Oh yeah, some kid was born who is either the savior of the mutants or the cause of their enslavement but either way she's gone somewhere in the time stream with Cable so don't worry about it any more".
- Remelox, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1You must be one of those fun-loving types who has parties centered around your favorite new artist, making droll comments about their brush stroke.
"Hello, I am an intellectual and you are the comic reading rabble. Bow to me."
Guess what, some of us read comics AND nonfiction. Some of us find both enjoyable. Some of us also play video games, watch movies, watch television, go to school, and conduct physics research. Yet we do not go into a discussion on crochet and complain that it is boring, a waste of time and money. It's the difference between being well-read and being a pompous prick.
Though admittedly I am tempted to find a discussion on crochet and prove myself wrong. - sukjeffrey, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1give me 2009 thumbs up and 2009 thumbs down, digg
- Scaramanga7, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1Okay, just working from what I'm familiar with . . .
How the hell does a guy who is defined by being unbeatable with no more rationale than "he's an alien" qualify as SF? While Hellcat is great, it also belongs solidly in the realm of fantasy, and while Year One Titans was funny, it was neither great nor SF (and that hurts to type, since it's Kesel.
Secret Invasion had a point, their lack of attention to the buildup apparently ruined it for them. Oh well. The criticism of ghost boxes are legitimate, but not nearly to "worst" territory. They made more sense than half the tie-ins for Final Crisis. Yes, Countdown sucked, but if you couldn't see that coming, you're Stevie Wonder. While One More Day was controversial, if you actually read how they pulled it off, it's better than such things as the revelation of the Hobgoblin's identity, almost every "traitor in the HQ" story, and the X-Traitor plothole.
I think they do this deliberately, just to get some outraged soul to hype them for free. - Astroseksy, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1Ah, thanks :)
- Remelox, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1I agree, the revelations of Green Lantern every month make it amazing. I've always been a Green Lantern fan but I have to admit it has its ups and downs. Lately it has been all up with promise of an event much better than Final Crisis.
Maybe I am just stupid but I really don't get Final Crisis and none of the other comics seem to tie into it at all, regardless of what they say. At least Secret Invasion is in context with the other comics, even if it is just a multi-issue slugfest that abandoned the initial premise. Apparently the Skrull have no concept of reserve forces. - jackdaniels06, on 01/01/2009, -2/+2Comic books are boring, a waste of time and money. I prefer reading nonfiction books and articles.
