- upick, on 08/22/2008, -1/+44Boooo Where's the pictures man! You'd think they could afford to buy some pictures to post on there. How are we suppose to see how ridiculous they are
- fluidfoundation, on 08/22/2008, -4/+29None of those were any worse than the burger and fries transformers that came in my Happy Meals as a kid.
- Wilarseny, on 08/22/2008, -1/+25Dude, can't hate on waspinator. That was a cool toy back in the day. Beast wars was amazing if you were a little kid at the time
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -1/+21Beast Wars was awesome, as was Waspinator.
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -1/+19Wazzzzzzzzpinator never gets any respect.
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -0/+14Optimus Primal
- serif69, on 08/22/2008, -0/+14The good old days? The good old days were when the cool kids had the Optimus Prime with the trailer. Man, you're young.
- justsayknow, on 08/22/2008, -2/+15I spent the first several years of my life fundamentally misunderstanding physics and engineering as a result of that show.
- FyberOptic, on 08/22/2008, -0/+13Waspinator has a headache in his wholllllllle boddyyyyyyy.
- alpine75, on 08/22/2008, -2/+15Buried for including Shockwave, one of the neatest Transformers toys.
The rest of the list was good though. - shutaro, on 08/22/2008, -2/+14Say what you want about Cupp... But "Transformers: The Movie" was was ***** awesome.
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -0/+9BeastWars had the most well thought out plot of the entire Transformers timeline...
I highly anticipate your massive diggdowns. - BoneheadFarker, on 08/22/2008, -0/+9That was after finding the disc. Originally he looked like a normal ape. A normal talking ape that turned into a huge robot....
- Tribis, on 08/22/2008, -0/+8That series ended up being quite acclaimed by traditional Transformers fans.
- elfprince13, on 08/22/2008, -1/+9I remember Burger King having *slightly* classier toys. Lego giveaways were always a plus though.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 08/22/2008, -0/+8It still holds up. Watched it again a few years back and there's some really good episodes in there.
- dafragsta, on 08/22/2008, -0/+8Frenzy and Rumble were nearly identical in the gen 1 series of toys. The name was taken but the actual robot/alternate form, like Soundwave was taken from there for the Michael Bay movie. The original set of tapes was Rumble, Ravage, Laserbeak, and Frenzy.
Yeah, I was a big Transformers nerd in grade school. - solidwhitedevil, on 08/22/2008, -0/+8I was shown pics of Transformers: Animated just the other day. My reaction:
"Optimus Prime has joined up with the Teen Titans."
http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/transformers/ima ... - Mishimaster, on 08/22/2008, -1/+9The good old days.
- Kronos6948, on 08/22/2008, -0/+7I love how Bay and Murphy dropped Soundwave because of mass shifting, yet the Allspark Cube can go from being the size of a house to about the size of a football so Party of The Beef could carry it. Yep, no mass shifting there.
- ZenMojo, on 08/22/2008, -1/+8Are you talking about Shockwave or Soundwave?
Shockwave: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHJtwmt9JAU
Soundwave: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBghD0XBN5M - mandarin, on 08/22/2008, -0/+6Not sure about soldiers who fire tons of guns at guys in blue and never get shot...
- badtiki, on 08/22/2008, -0/+5OK, no pictures but im digging anyway. Alot of the newer transformers suck but there were some gen1's missing - like the confusing 6 changer, and how many different planes could there be? I also remember one that flipped open when you rolled it back - it would run forward and flip open to transform - most of the time falling on its side. And what about the ones where their heads popped off and transformed into another robot - what the hell is that?
- all_about_the_D, on 08/22/2008, -0/+5dude, the whole effin' point of the transformers was and always has been to sell toys. they killed off kids favorite characters in the movie so that they could put out second generation toys. the real abortion was that michael bay piece of crap. honestly, if you're going to make a transformers movie, make the transformers the central characters in the movie; not shia la boeuf screaming like a bitch for 2 and a half hours while panning to megan fox's ***** and ass every once in a while.
- pjkli, on 08/22/2008, -6/+10Are you retarded? Any toy that came with Micky D's food was awesome. Not to mention they are collectors items. I have like two boxes full of toys from there. Some from me and some I have found.
- parax, on 08/22/2008, -0/+4I'm sure that's just what your young son needs, a Mr. Literal sitting there and picking apart the logical flaws in his Saturday morning cartoons. Of course it's lame, half the shows we all grew up watching were lame. We mostly remember the excitement of the concept, not the parental lecture Panthro gives Wily Kit every 3 minutes. We all loved Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, Destro, Serpentor, etc. We suppress the fact that in the entire show like only 1 person ever died amidst the hail of laser fire and high explosives.
You just have to relax and watch. Forget about all the inconsistencies and lame characters. - Ju1c3, on 08/22/2008, -0/+4Heinlad (Beast Wars Neo) ... AKA TANOOKIE SUIT... so its funny in transformers, but sweet as hell in mario?
- MarshalBanana, on 08/22/2008, -0/+4I think that last thing really helped this particular movie along though.
- 9bpm9, on 08/22/2008, -0/+4I loved beast wars.
- jonmlm, on 08/22/2008, -0/+4buried. not gonna lie, i really only wanted to see pictures
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3great article, but it could have been strengthened by linked images from the wikipedia articles it already linked to - would have saved me another click.
- edwartica, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3What about beachcomber? The pacifist biologist who was shown in a classic blaster shooting pose on the package?
- ZenMojo, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3Who would dare digg you down?
- ZenMojo, on 08/22/2008, -1/+4Burger King had those stupid BK kids and crayons. You remember wrong.
- bardo77n, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3Beast Wars is still awesome! Seasons 2 and 3 have the best storyline of any Transformers either prior to it, or since.
Furthermore, I was in college when it was first on, so I don't think a person had to be a "little kid at the time." - GlitchEnzo, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3I agree. I watched several episodes when I was in high school, and I liked them enough that in college I eventually got around to watching them all. I love how it's in the same universe as Gen 1. Almost all of the other Transformers TV series seem to be in their own new universe.
- ace429k, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3this list sucks because all they did was link it to wikipedia. way to put some effort.
- inactive, on 08/22/2008, -1/+4By clicking their names which lead to a full article and pictures?
But yeah, they should've put some pics right there. - nothugo, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2Add to the list: every one of the ***** GoBots. (Even if they are the K-Mart of the Transformers)
- BluesFan, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2Transformers Generation 1 was the best, beast wars was ok but all the new ones just watered down the original.
btw I didn't like the new movie. - DonCarcharo, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2The Transformers line started to decline immediately following the "Transformers : The Movie." That's because they lost focus of one of the most fundamental aspects of the series/toy line: that these giant robots turned into "every day" things like cars, planes, cameras, guns, etc. (I'm giving a pass to the Insecticons and Dinobots here). After the movie, most of the robots turned into "futuristic things" (explainable perhaps as using their Cybertronian forms).
The toy line eventually evolved into monsters, people (The pretenders) and I believe ultimately ended with "Action Masters" that transformed into, well... nothing. The only saving grace near the end of the G1 line might be the Targetmasters and Headmasters, though some of those were just rehashes of other G1 characters.
Overlooking the toyline, the storyline essentially fizzled out with the movie as well. Though the G1 series after the movie was tolerable, the insane Galvatron and his rag tag crew left a bit to be desired. Not having watched Headmasters and Victory I can't comment on those series but I can say that anything after these shows, with the exception of Beast Wars, has been utter garbage.
As for the new stuff, I can't even bring myself to watch it. I suppose I still have a few fond memories of my youth that haven't been destroyed by inferior "Action-packed ADHD" remakes. And I do realize that the original Transformers wasn't great cinema, but at least some attempt was given to plot and characters. Now character development takes a back seat to intense action / flashing / explosion and color. I'd hate to be a kid in this generation. - ageedoy, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2That list is complete *****. It should also be noted that Optimus Prime has always been called 'Convoy' in Japan.
- boombye, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2The stupid BK kids weren't around until the 90s (when everything had to be rad or cool dude), but luckily I wasn't buying that ***** in the 90s. In the 80s we used to get stuff like a plush Alf. That was cool.
- ZenMojo, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2Frenzy and Ratbat weren't redshirts. That implies that they died at some point.
/nerd - Namco, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2It takes 10 motes of Optimus to make one Optimus Primal.
- markmckay, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2Sucks because there are no pictures.
- GlitchEnzo, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2Optimal Optimus was freaking awesome! He is probably my favorite transformer. I have a little toy of him that I keep at my desk at work.
For those who don't know, it is a fusion between Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal. - GlitchEnzo, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2YOU'VE GOT THE TOUCH!
- Tolzmaniac, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2haha Waspinator! I loved the episode where Dinobot turned him into a cube.
Oh Beast Wars. How I miss you. - fishpicker, on 08/22/2008, -1/+3The majority of transformers suck. Only the first generation transformers from the first 2 seasons are worth a damn. season 3 brought in Ultra magnus, Hot rod, Kup, Blurr, Arcee, and Springer. Those were the worst designs and the vehicle modes looked terrible. The jets and cars that the first transformers turned into were modeled after their RL counterparts. The vehicles devolved into futuristic looking crap that didnt resemble anything because they were designed out of convenience.
Cosmos wasn't too bad. he spent all his time in space so he didn't need a realistic disguise. i thought he was kind of cool because he resembled a foo-fighter. his color scheme sucks though. -
