Inspiration by Super Heroes Color Schemes
abduzeedo.com — When we start thinking about a new design, one of the first things we start researching is cool colors that we might use. But how about researching Super Heroes color schemes?

- kinseyincanada, on 03/15/2008, -1/+3move
- winmywii, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1Isn't being a hockey fan a requirement?

Repainting my walls with the black and blue from the Batman theme would be awesome.- eliburford, on 03/15/2008, -1/+3You'd have to be sure to make a stencil out of that wicked-looking bat logo as well.
- 1807, on 03/15/2008, -0/+2The batman Begins logo is better
- eliburford, on 03/15/2008, -1/+3You'd have to be sure to make a stencil out of that wicked-looking bat logo as well.
- Jenadae, on 03/15/2008, -2/+24out of all of those id have to say i like green lantern the most
- Piipe, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1me too..
- tbenathan, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1Yep, I'm going to use those colors for my corporate website.
- Piipe, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1me too..
- usingpond, on 03/15/2008, -11/+6This is cool, but wow, I'd forgotten how homoerotically comic book superheroes are drawn.
- georgetds, on 03/15/2008, -0/+6I would guess it depends on what you are attracted to...
- usingpond, on 03/15/2008, -3/+1Funny, I thought I could point out an objective observation on Digg about a ***** comic book.
Why do you think they make them have such rippling muscles in skintight spandex? Surely, so the readers can relate.- sanman, on 03/15/2008, -0/+3That's why 300 was so popular with diggers too
- SuppaK, on 03/16/2008, -0/+1So super heroes should wear baggy clothes?
- usingpond, on 03/16/2008, -0/+1When one thinks about what super heroes should wear, does "spandex" immediately pop into your head? Also, why do they have to be so exaggerated in their physique? If you've ever made fun of wrestling, you have no business reading comic books (at least mainstream ones).
- usingpond, on 03/15/2008, -3/+1Funny, I thought I could point out an objective observation on Digg about a ***** comic book.
- georgetds, on 03/15/2008, -0/+6I would guess it depends on what you are attracted to...
- schizogony, on 03/15/2008, -2/+71Abridged version:
Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Black & White.- capiCrimm, on 03/15/2008, -5/+4they forgot purple. I don't care what you say, but Barney is a superhero.
- 1807, on 03/15/2008, -3/+2Only when he sings Soulja boy.... YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU
- fasda, on 03/15/2008, -1/+3By Barney you mean Classic Hulk right?
- kinseyincanada, on 03/15/2008, -2/+1he was grey not purple
- 1807, on 03/15/2008, -3/+2Only when he sings Soulja boy.... YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU
- capiCrimm, on 03/15/2008, -5/+4they forgot purple. I don't care what you say, but Barney is a superhero.
- gypsi, on 03/15/2008, -0/+8the spiderman color scheme is unusable for pretty much anything
- Jibberwalk, on 03/15/2008, -3/+61I'm confused as to what this is. To me, it looks like someone took the color-picker in photoshop and then made a post about it.
- shadeOfGrey, on 03/15/2008, -2/+43This is for people who are confused what the predominant colors are in super hero costumes. I know I never realized that Captain America incorporated so much red white and blue.
- MillionsLivio, on 03/15/2008, -2/+1It's the color schemes of super heroes, graphic designers understand.
- devilwarriors, on 03/15/2008, -1/+1I'm a graphic designer and to me it still look like someone have too much color picker skill and need to share it...
- ChromaVita, on 03/16/2008, -0/+1When the Color Lovers page does this, it is actually interesting, and they find the right shades of the colors that go together well. While it is true that these color schemes are the colors that super heroes wear, they are not selected because the colors go well. The shades aren't even right.
- WickEd101, on 03/15/2008, -9/+0I'll be completely honest with you, I only know Superman, Spiderman and Batman. I mustn't be a very good person.
- woulok, on 03/15/2008, -3/+20is it just me or is Wonder Woman pants-tenting hot?
- smrekar, on 03/15/2008, -1/+1welcome to digg
- fratdaddy, on 03/15/2008, -10/+2It's St. Patty's day... get off digg
- Asianwaste, on 03/15/2008, -1/+6Kiss me, I vomited all over my pants!!
- fasda, on 03/15/2008, -0/+2Drunk I'm kiss me
- capiCrimm, on 03/15/2008, -0/+3I refuse to celebrate St. Patties day until the 17. Otherwise I have no excuse to miss work.
- Asianwaste, on 03/15/2008, -1/+6Kiss me, I vomited all over my pants!!
- heavystone, on 03/15/2008, -3/+19I don't get it. The guy didnt draw them, just pointed out the colors they use....ehhhh? Maybe I would take a picture of a tree and just point out it's green?
- debuggercll, on 03/15/2008, -3/+2No, you would point out how cool the green is.
- Asianwaste, on 03/15/2008, -3/+12The article is a study on graphic arts. How to take a few colors and thematically roll with them. Super hero designs are just a prime example.
- alexforcefive, on 03/15/2008, -1/+1You're right, it would have been nice to have a little paragraph about each colour palette to explain what it is and why it works. Just pointing out the colours is kinda lazy
- formergthing, on 03/15/2008, -3/+7What's up with that image of Spiderman? Looks like you caught him mid-orgasm and I don't even want to know what that is shooting out of his hand.
- debuggercll, on 03/15/2008, -6/+2It's semen.
- 1807, on 03/15/2008, -1/+1not sea men?
- debuggercll, on 03/15/2008, -6/+2It's semen.
- NinjaPirateDude, on 03/15/2008, -0/+2FYI there are seven colors in the rainbow, just thought you might have forgot........... /yeah i think this is pointless too
that Flash one is kickass though - Qasmus7, on 03/15/2008, -1/+20The color scheme of Captain America is the flag of France? How... suspiciously coincidental.
- tehstapl0r, on 03/15/2008, -2/+3What is you wanted a half black room with brown and red? Eh? Eh?
Fine, I guess no one likes Hellboy. - Liquidxtension, on 03/15/2008, -3/+9Wierd that Iron Man has Captain America's shield and Captain America doesn't.
- thelongbox, on 03/15/2008, -0/+6At the end of Civil War when Captain America dies, Tony Stark (Iron Man), takes the shield and gives it to the new Captain America.
- 1807, on 03/15/2008, -5/+3I wonder what its like to say "i've had sex with captin America"
- alexforcefive, on 03/15/2008, -0/+5Every time I see iron man post-civil war I think "***** YOU MAN! FUUUUCK YOUUUU!!!!"
- protodon, on 03/15/2008, -0/+3When I saw that picture of him, I was like " Ironman's an asshole!". I'm still going to see his movie though.
- jon30041, on 03/15/2008, -0/+2Ultimate Iron Man hasn't entered into prick status.
He's still a raucous drunk though... =D
- jon30041, on 03/15/2008, -0/+2Ultimate Iron Man hasn't entered into prick status.
- protodon, on 03/15/2008, -0/+3When I saw that picture of him, I was like " Ironman's an asshole!". I'm still going to see his movie though.
- edwartica, on 03/16/2008, -0/+2I've said this before, but come the Iron Man movie premiere, I'm dressing up in a Captain America costume and standing in front of a theater with a big sign that says "Tony Stark Killed me."
- thelongbox, on 03/15/2008, -0/+6At the end of Civil War when Captain America dies, Tony Stark (Iron Man), takes the shield and gives it to the new Captain America.
- hurben, on 03/15/2008, -1/+1I love colour!
- kamau84, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1Why are they only allowed to use three colors at most? Spider-man would probably be White, Red, Blue and Black. Also the shades of colors used don't really vary from one picture to the next. WTF is this?
- kibbled, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1Comics were original printed on newspaper print and 4 color printing. Therefore the colors had to be very simple and primary so people knew what they were looking at that. The book Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud taught me this.
- valimar77, on 03/15/2008, -5/+1Great Submission
- Theseeus, on 03/15/2008, -4/+0not bad,
- superdigg, on 03/15/2008, -1/+3sorry, am I missing something? what the hell IS this submission, other than a notification of the most prominent colors in pictures of superheroes!?
- grimward, on 03/15/2008, -1/+3It's supposed to be a pseudo intellectual "hey, look BATMAN USES ALOT OF BLUE LOL" argumentative article in which the person just took some sweet comic images and used the color picker to simulate that he knows something we don't. I wish I could bury this article tenfold, but I guess I'll just have to settle for once!
- TimDigg, on 03/15/2008, -0/+2Wolverine should include black along with the other two colors
- 1807, on 03/15/2008, -1/+1I HATE when they draw Wolverine with stupid little points on his head. In the past, it's happened to Batman too. I understand Artistic expression and all that jazz, but THAT isn't how Wolverine looks. All I'm asking for is a Guy with frickin' BLACK HORNS ATTACHED TO HIS HEAD!
- SodaForJones, on 03/15/2008, -1/+1Green Arrow's arrow is nocked wrong.
But still freakin sweet.- gypsi, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1dugg up, nerd
- wunch, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1I can see this being cool for certain applications, but most classic superhero colors are designed to stand out and contrast, and would be way to garish for a web page color scheme, which imho should be more neutral so as to put the emphasis on the content.
- grantmoore3d, on 03/15/2008, -4/+4wow, that was so American I think I"m going to throw up... do you really need to have your flag in everything!?
- pantunes, on 03/15/2008, -3/+6For those who don't know why Iron Man is holding Captain America's shield, there was this event, called the Civil War (not the history one), where mutants and gifted people were impeled to reveal their identities. That's enough to make 2 parties, those who do reveal, and those who will fight until the end to keep their identities secret, in order to preserve their families from attacks and stuff. Iron Man leads the ones who think that they must reveal. Captain America, the opposition... and at some point, people start calling him a traitor, because his is against US government... and finally gets killed by a sniper. And for all that Captain America meant to the US, Iron Man decides to carry on his badge. That's pretty much it.
- gabekab, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1Info about the civil war comics. http://www.marvel.com/comics/Civil_War
- jon30041, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1Cap got popped once by a sniper, yeah, but it wasn't fatal. He died because his girlfriend unloaded half a clip into him in all the confusion, while under control by the Red Skull. And... Stark didn't take up the mantle of Cap. America. He held onto it until the successor came along.
- bearsinthesea, on 03/15/2008, -1/+1Color me confused, why is this getting buried?
- BagginsBoy, on 03/15/2008, -1/+1Those are some pretty lame color schemes, to be honest.
- Urbanninja622, on 03/15/2008, -0/+5The Batman is drawn by Jim Lee and is from a story arch he did with Jeph Loeb called Hush. Its 12 or 13 issues and every panel looks like that or better. The Green Lantern is from the Rebirth story arch drawn by Ethan Van Sciver (he did a butt load of work of GL, its all beautiful). I can't remember who did The Wolverine (I think a man with the last name Ramos but I'm really not sure) but that panel is from his Civil War tie in (if you don't know what that is Wiki Civil War Marvel). The art is all awesome but none of it is yours and the idea that each hero is only made up of 2 or 3 colors is pretty lame.
- rawnzilla, on 03/15/2008, -0/+2Humberto Ramos.
- jun2san, on 03/15/2008, -0/+6I love that drawing of Batman. Jim Lee drew the best Batman in my opinion.
- lordtyros, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1Ever hear of Alex Ross?
- mwmccullough, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1Dugg for using Jim Lee artwork. Too bad they didn't use his on Wolvie though. Jim Lee FTW!
- AvangionQ, on 03/15/2008, -0/+2You want to see something really cool for Marvel fans ... check this out ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rV4wqtvQ8bk ...
- Wronghead, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1The Wolverine drawing is terrible.
- blinktude, on 03/15/2008, -0/+0damn i was looking for Captain Obvious.
- Pritchard, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1Holy crap. Spiderman's the bartender from Never Gunna Give You Up!
- jesus8mypoptart, on 03/15/2008, -1/+1this is sooo lame. Stupid ***** nerds, just cause it has comic book ***** it got on the top 10. theres nothing in there that is useful at all. Who the ***** didn't know captain america was red white and blue, or that batman was gray, black, and a dark blue. Sooo stupid digg is going downhill with crappy submissions.
- McKrakin, on 03/16/2008, -0/+0What's so great about this page? They took the eyedrop tool and copied the colors into boxes. Big deal. Am I missing something?
- cRmtIMe, on 03/16/2008, -0/+1Jim Lee Michael Turner FTW!
- edwartica, on 03/16/2008, -0/+1What, no black Canary Color scheme? You've got Black, Black, and Black! :P
- mille716, on 03/16/2008, -0/+1Wonder Woman, you filthy slut...
- JasonDesjardins, on 03/16/2008, -0/+0Great post!
