If there are more letters and clear cut proof of racism and sexism floating around, I would love to see it so that we can remind people of our ignorant past in the hope that we avoid it in the future. - desertDenizen, on 01/12/2009, -1/+39I conducted experiments as a psych major in college, to measure gender differences in the ability to look at two dots and say, without measuring, how many inches apart they are. Suffice it to say, guys were much better at gauging distances than the girls. My adviser suggested that it's not innate, that it may be because guys mess around with socket wrenches and whatnot their entire lives. I offered, IMO, a more creative explanation, that women don't know how big 8" is because guys have been telling them since the girls were 14 that a 6" object is 8". She (my advisor) was rather unamused, and suggested I come up with alternative explanations for my paper.
