- DevSingh1359, on 07/20/2009, -1/+30Dragon Ball Z is unfilmable. DB Evolution proved it.
- socivitus, on 07/20/2009, -2/+29They mean after Lord of the Rings AND Watchmen. Anything could be given a chance now.
- jboitnott, on 07/20/2009, -3/+29I am truley sorry for your lots.
- superheroboy, on 07/20/2009, -1/+27The Dark Tower. At 7 books they could never do it justice, even if each book had its own season on HBO.
- fasda, on 07/20/2009, -11/+31who would want to watch a whiny bitch for 2 hrs?
- tmyprod, on 07/20/2009, -1/+21I'd throw "House of Leaves" in the damn near impossible to do a film that does justice to the book category.
- h3lx, on 07/20/2009, -3/+23After a 14' blue dick... what else is there?
- inactive, on 07/20/2009, -1/+18Yay Neuromancer!! Good stuff there
- harrison5394, on 07/20/2009, -5/+22The Catcher in the Rye

- Syphon9, on 07/20/2009, -2/+16Phonies.
- thefangedrabbit, on 07/20/2009, -1/+14Ender's Game will never work, unless they change the characters so they're older. When the book starts he's 6, and he doesn't get much older throughout it. You're not going to find a kid who can play Ender Wiggin, let alone Bean or any of the other children.
- Pirate42, on 07/20/2009, -1/+14Considering the main reason the Catcher in the rye was good was because you got into Holden's head, and how he always put his bias on the events of the book, it would be absolutely retarded to film it. The director would have to show an unbiased version of the events with Holden's Commentary going over it the entire time.
- Wreckage, on 07/20/2009, -1/+13A porno starring members of "The View", would be unfilmable.
- Mattress13, on 07/20/2009, -1/+13Preacher
- ancalagon73, on 07/20/2009, -2/+13Where's Mystique?
- protogenxl, on 07/20/2009, -1/+12If Dr. Manhattan is so advanced and beyond humans why does he need to be swinging pipe every minute of every day?
- Rotzooi, on 07/20/2009, -1/+11Digg - the movie?
- elektraprotege, on 07/20/2009, -1/+9As much as I'd love to see "Sandman" on the screen, I doubt it would happen. The "Sandman" series encapsulates a huge span of history, much of which isn't even HUMAN history. And the Endless themselves are characters that are pretty out-there. Each of them has their own unique mythos, so put together, their story is enormous. On the screen, I don't believe it'd be able to please everyone. Hardcore "Sandman" fans would feel cheated for not being given everything the series has to offer and non-fans may feel overwhelmed or confused by the mythos.
Oh well.
A fan can dream. - ericdano, on 07/20/2009, -1/+9Asimov's Foundation is not film-able. They could maybe do something with the books he added towards the end of his life, but the original 3 books would be very difficult if not impossible.
- FmyLife, on 07/20/2009, -1/+9I still want to see them try. They're my favorite books, thankee-sai.
- snowshoeless, on 07/20/2009, -2/+10that and the fact that JD Salinger would never in a million years allow it.
- inactive, on 07/20/2009, -2/+10I'll put a vote in for The Silmarillion unless it gets some HBO series treatment, which is never going to happen.
Also, despite what Fox says, there will never be a real Deadpool portrayal. - Stormwern, on 07/20/2009, -2/+9The hulk is apparently unfilmable, how many times have they tried now?
- asdfrewq, on 07/20/2009, -1/+8I don't mind the 80's adaptation of 1984.
- dumass4u, on 07/20/2009, -1/+8Agreed. It's hard to operate a camera when your choking on your own vomit.
- absolutelytrue, on 07/20/2009, -5/+12The claim surely has to lady to rest.
- CaughtThinking, on 07/20/2009, -1/+8I thought Akira would be unflimable, yet http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1134795/
- fury420, on 07/20/2009, -1/+7.... the corresponding blue vag?
- RudeTurnip, on 07/20/2009, -1/+7Like American Psycho?
- Subduction, on 07/20/2009, -1/+7"...screaming like an abattoir full of retarded children."
Who writes that? Jeez. - bjs3171, on 07/20/2009, -1/+7Watchmen's problem was NOT that it wasn't true to the source material. The problem was that it WAS the source material, crammed into 2 or so hours.
- JoeHague, on 07/20/2009, -1/+7How about Y The Last Man
- inactive, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6I thought that the watchmen was brilliantly done and the things left out of the book were apropos for a movie to leave out (ex the full Rorschach psych evaluations). Also, Alan Moore can STFU about Watchmen since he even says he never saw it (can you blame him after League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) - don't talk ***** if you haven't seen the movie. I agree that you can't judge a movie by its gross (Transformers 2), but watchmen was incredibly close to the comic.
- Rekutyn, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6The Diamond Age, Neil Stephenson
- kingofinternet, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6Lost Girls
- subscriber, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6Ulysses (The James Joyce one)
- Billions, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6Yeah... Not much is "unfilmable" after seeing what 'Watchmen' did, but it also showed us what's "unsellable." Not everything is well-supported when it moves out of it's niche audience.
- primatage, on 07/20/2009, -1/+6Yeah I was completely stoked to see that someone is making an actual effort on Neuromancer. If they screw it up I won't be surprised, but if they pull it off I can die happy.
- inactive, on 07/20/2009, -2/+7Stupid article judged the filmability of Watchmen based on box office gross. Just because you make money off from something doesn't mean it's true to the source material in style and substance. At worst, Watchmen(the movie) is a bastardization of Alan Moore's masterpiece (close to Moore's own views on the issue), and at best it's the best Hollywood could do. The movie isn't anything to the history of cinema(Watchmen might be the most important book in the comic medium), and any social impact it might have had, the comic had first and better. If the original text is sacrosanct, the criterion for judging it's filmability must be how faithful the film is to the source. Not how many tickets it sold.
- s73v3r, on 07/20/2009, -0/+5If I was playing Dr. Manhattan, I'd say screw anatomically correctness, I want that thing hanging down past my knees.
- SirBruce, on 07/20/2009, -0/+51. Just because a film version doesn't have the same social impact as the comic book doesn't mean it's a failure. Look at M*A*S*H, where the exact opposite was true; furthermore, the TV series was even more commercial than the movie and had even greater social impact.
2. The movie was very true to the source material, which actually made it weaker in parts. Where it deviated from the source material, it usually made it better.
3. Nothing is sacrosanct.
4. Bad disco/80's songs were the appropriate songs of the time! You may dislike them, but that's like complaining about 60's music in Apocalypse Now. - mizike, on 07/20/2009, -1/+5Even Elizabeth Hasselback? She may be ultraconservative, but she's also easy on the old eyes...
- protogenxl, on 07/20/2009, -3/+7I can think of at least two thing wrong with that title.
- Yetisquatch, on 07/20/2009, -1/+5thats actually what i would prefer rather than movies. i think they could tell the whole story in 3 seasons with 18 -24 1hr episodes per season as long as its commercial free. honestly, the story doesnt really even start until drawing of the three.
on a side note, ive always wanted to see the talisman made into a movie. - mr138, on 07/20/2009, -0/+4Yeah that sucks dude, I named my kid 機動戦士ガンダム外, and ***** are always confusing him with 機動ガン落ちたダ. *****' pisses me off! *****!
- inactive, on 07/20/2009, -0/+4that wang was so goddamn big in imax - I think that everyone who saw it and didn't like it can't handle an anatomically correct nude male - and that speaks volumes towards their homophobia and latent homosexuality
- JHW539, on 07/20/2009, -2/+6Screw comics. I want to see Snowcrash filmed.
- Balanced, on 07/20/2009, -0/+4It was a pretty good movie, no matter what Alan Moore says. Maybe not a masterpiece, but in some ways I liked that it was a little tighter and neater than the comic.
