- OneRottenTomato, on 08/02/2008, -4/+24Wow, again, another SDCC report and not mentioning about the experience of buying comics, commissioning a sketch from an artist, discovering a new indy publisher, interviewing a comics team, attending a how-to-draw workshop... Why does SDCC even bother mentioning they are a comics convention anymore. It's all the same Hollywood garbage I can see on worthless E channel.

- stellamaris, on 08/02/2008, -0/+7Is it easy for the average person to go to Comic Con? Do you have to buy tickets, or just show up? How much does it cost? I'm sure my brother would love to go; it might be a good birthday present next year.
- amer1ka, on 08/03/2008, -1/+7Buried for not mentioning the Tron 2 trailer.
- holyshift, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4Definitely getting Dave Gibbons to shake my hand was worth the entire convention.
- ishdawa, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4to be fair, the site is called "FilmSchoolRejects." Hollywood garbage is their bread and butter
- loveforkarma, on 08/03/2008, -0/+4What about Tron 2? I wanna hear more about that.
- inactive, on 08/02/2008, -0/+3Seeing Greg Oden would have made my weekend had I gone. Did anyone meet him?
- maximumsteve1, on 08/03/2008, -0/+3i too live in san diego.
However, I apologize to digg for this senseless comment. We're not all douchebags here, most of us stay pretty classy.
I got a sketch and got to chat with xkcd author randall munroe. Regardless of where I lived, that would've been worth the trip for me. - SaladCactusKing, on 08/03/2008, -0/+2I met Jason Aaron, Brian Wood, Becky Cloonan, Joe Kelly, Steven T Seagle, Matt Fraction, Robert Kirkman, CB Cebulski, Christos Gage, Andy Kuhn, Phil Hester, Joanna Angel, Brian Posehn (again), made a ton of new friends, played a bunch of unreleased video games, watched a bunch of trailers and panels, met a bunch of freaky people in costumes, and hit multiple shots of alcohol shortly followed by sloppy make out session with a 35 year old cougar at a rave.
Place is a nerd Disneyland. Best weekend ever. - StanleyKoolPrik, on 08/03/2008, -0/+2But how did you avoid bumping into one of the tens-of-thousands nerd boners drifting around the convention? It must have been like trying to walk through a field of rose bushes.
- zspears, on 08/03/2008, -0/+2all on one page? dugg
- keyle, on 08/03/2008, -3/+5Surely not the "babes"...
- dslartoo, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1I hit Dragon*Con in Atlanta every year since I live in Atlanta, but would like to make SDCC one year. Maybe sometime when I have more vacation time handy...
- fearlessfx, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1"The wrath of con"... indeed.
- kwirk, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1The best part of Comic-Con for me is always seeing hot geek girls everywhere...where are y'all the other 51 weeks in the year? In your homes or on your computers watching Avatar or something?
I also like meeting the internet personalities face to face...this year I got a free sketch of LOL FAG from the Cyanide and Happiness guys, plus met the artist behind Perry Bible Fellowship. Really cool telling those people how much you like their work and seeing how appreciative they are of their fans. - Ratteler, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1But your mom is under the Rock, and I'm as tired of having sex with the fat bitch as your REAL dad is.
Oh... and how is this a war about "Comic-Con". It's a war about some douche taking a payoff from the WB to promote the steaming pile of ***** McG is going to take on a classic movie franchise.
Nice try... but UFAIL! - Whiteknight117, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1#1 X-Men Origins: Wolverine
- wakkow, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1It's easy, depending on where you're staying and when you start planning. If you're from out of town and plan on staying near the convention center, you have to try to reserve a room AS SOON as they go on sale (6 months beforehand?) through CCI. Otherwise you'll be stuck paying hundreds for a room, or having to drive or trolley in (which isn't that bad).
As for the tickets themselves, the four day passes sold out about 2ish? months before the con. As long as you remember to buy them beforehand, there's no problem getting them. If you're coming in from out of town and haven't gone before, get the 4-day pass. Actually no matter what, just get the 4-day pass. It's like $70 or $75. - maximumsteve1, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1I actually did. It was pretty awesome seeing him pose for pictures with manga. lol.
- xstarsprinklesx, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1Yes, you need tickets, and this year it sold out well before the actual con so you definitely shouldn't count on buying tickets at the door (plus, if it's the same as most cons, you save money by pre-registering). I've never been but I believe four-day passes were about $75 this year, $35 for a single day pass.
http://www.comic-con.org/ - StriderNemesis, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1It's actually pretty easy for the average person to go. I've bought tickets several years. It used to be easier since you could buy them at the Convention Center the same day you wanted to be there, but now that they limited the number of tickets (to avoid huge crowds) you have to buy them online beforehand, but it's not like they sell out fast or something; there's a pretty good chance to get a 4-day Membership. Once you attend the event once, they'll keep snail-mailing you "Updates" that keep you informed throughout the year, so you know how and when you'll be able to buy tickets, and who will be at the Con.
- BitKid, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1ComiCon is always good times. We want the rock! We want the rock!
- chokeaduck, on 08/04/2008, -0/+1It certainly does seem to be a rarity these days.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1Or mentioning the TR2N footage.
- Stoyanov, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1No LOST? No Digg.
- Import98, on 08/04/2008, -0/+1Where are the links to the Hot Girls of Comic-Con? Did none attend or did I miss the post? If the latter, POST!!
- tanuki0, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1Geek girl here. I never hide or anything but guys don't usually believe me when I say I'm a geek, it's like we don't exist.
- inactive, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1I'm pumped for Wolverine next summer.
- DownIsTheNewUp, on 08/03/2008, -1/+1They forgot the best one:
Kristin Kreuk did a signing.
Sigh...if only this had been announced in time for me to get tickets. - mrinsanity, on 08/03/2008, -2/+2***** you! Two of my friends died going to Co....... what? Oh that meme is dead? OK.
- goettel, on 08/03/2008, -0/+0At Comic Con, I'm Johnny's brother.
Victory! - samo123, on 08/03/2008, -0/+0i like it give me more
- Darksoul, on 08/04/2008, -1/+1And your dugg down for trying to bring the war into a digg about Comic-Con go hide under your rock you ***** troll.
- Ratteler, on 08/03/2008, -1/+1Buried for making McG's abortion of the Terminator franchise #1!!! Obviously WB had licensed GWB's press manipulation technology to get positive buzz about what MUST BE a HUGE TURD of a movie.
Bush Media manipulation didn't work on the public to sell the Iraq war, and WB Media manipulation won't work to sell the FUTURE WARS!!! Want my Ticket money... FIRE McG! - GregFD3S, on 08/03/2008, -2/+2I live in San Diego, so it was definitely worth the trip.
- HaloZero, on 08/03/2008, -1/+1I think the tickets sold out right after they went on sale a few months before the con
- Coreal07, on 08/03/2008, -7/+1Everyone at this thing is gay...
