- prosayik, on 06/02/2008, -16/+118It's Pocari Sweat, a popular gatorade like drink in Japan.
This variety is aimed at animals.
I guess its hilarious to some people. I find the idea that people make a sweet drink from aquatic reptiles called 'gators' to replenish one's thirst equally odd. - SkullPizza, on 06/02/2008, -3/+93i guess i'll be the first to mention that dogs do not have sweat glands. it's why they pant. so not only is the thought of this drink disgusting, but in true Japanese fashion, it also makes no logical sense.
- dougvfr750, on 06/02/2008, -3/+93It probably tastes better than pet urine
- inactive, on 06/02/2008, -5/+93Gatorade was developed by a group at the University of Florida whose mascot is the "Gators". Hence Gatorade.
- KMartSheriff, on 06/02/2008, -1/+52*in southern accent* "Naturally we called it Gatorade"
- faceless323, on 06/02/2008, -2/+48someone saw the commercial...
- xero69, on 06/02/2008, -3/+42Coming soon, bottled child sweat directly imported from Nike and Wal-Mart factories in China!!!!
- dadotron, on 06/02/2008, -0/+25made and bottled by other children!
- Carl306, on 06/02/2008, -3/+27So did you guys hear that dogs don't sweat?
- InstantRamen, on 06/02/2008, -2/+22And who said watching tv is not educational ..
- seabass341, on 06/02/2008, -4/+23dogs dont sweat except for on their paws so that picture on the bottle is misleading. False advertising, id say.
- Startemus, on 06/02/2008, -2/+19Keep'em at 0 and this comment won't happen again.
- amawg9, on 06/02/2008, -0/+15Only one way to be sure.
- InstantRamen, on 06/02/2008, -0/+14wow sad. all you have to do on digg is to make a witty comment to be noticed .
- KingGorilla, on 06/02/2008, -1/+13Red Tick beer: 'Hmm, bold, refreshing, and something I can't quite put my finger on,' says Homer.
(Scene shifts to brewery, where dogs are swimming in vats of beer. Brewery worker: 'Needs more dog.') - Kronk42583, on 06/02/2008, -3/+14not only does gatorade quench your thirst better than water.... it tastes better too!!!
NOOO! H2O!!!
Water sucks, it really really sucks!!!! - specialK16, on 06/02/2008, -0/+11from flickr comments:
There's another Japanese product called Pocari Sweat. It's a popular sports drink / Gatorade-type-thing. This is presumably a competing product. The name probably has something to do with the fact that plastic bottles in Japan are often referred to as PET bottles, which makes the name a (strange) pun. - Mononuclear, on 06/02/2008, -4/+14This is a sports drink like gatorade or powerade.
From comments:
失われた - うしなわれた - ushinawareta - lost
水分 - すいぶん - suibun - moisture
補給 - ほきゅう - hokyuu - replenish, renew (had to look up those kanji)
So "replenishes lost moisture". It's a sports drink. - j1ggy, on 06/02/2008, -0/+7Except for the picture of that dog on the bottle.
- Mononuclear, on 06/03/2008, -0/+7You notice where I said "From comments:" It's called citing my source..
- j1ggy, on 06/02/2008, -0/+7It does if you read the comments below:

- letitbleed62, on 06/02/2008, -1/+7lets just kill the *****
- SmilinGoat, on 06/02/2008, -0/+6Pocari Sweat can be found on the west coast in portland and seattle and in san fransisco iirc at a chain called Uwajimaia, a japanese grocery store. ive had it a few times, its no better than gatorade/powerade. the store has a lot of japanese food you normally can not find in america, its a cool place to stop by and look around. they have these freeze dried fish that taste very unique and actually taste kind of good if your in the right mood.
- inactive, on 06/02/2008, -0/+6Thanks for clearing that up for people.
And Pocari Sweat is DELICIOUS, a lot better then any other sports drink IMO :P - TheAmbushAhead, on 06/02/2008, -0/+6Shouldn't we keep him at +1 because that is the default comment value? 0 means he has been buried more than dugg.
- renegadeafk, on 06/03/2008, -2/+8dogs can't look up
- kingvik, on 06/03/2008, -1/+6Plus its got electrolytes.
- KMartSheriff, on 06/02/2008, -1/+6Leave it to Asia to come up with some weird ***** like this.
- LowFuel, on 06/02/2008, -0/+4You're thinking of reddit, like two days ago (and nine months ago), but with a better headline.
- deltron, on 06/02/2008, -0/+4Pocari Sweat is amazing. I didn't buy it until the last day I was in Tokyo last year, I saw it in vending machines everywhere but when I tried this magical blend of sweat it was great.
- lolwutpear, on 06/03/2008, -1/+5and then we'll bury his corpse for some final irony
- TheGooseyOne, on 06/03/2008, -0/+4Further proof that 90% of Digg stories can be referred back to through a Simpsons quote
- nerd64, on 06/02/2008, -0/+3Japan also sells the popular drink Calpis (the romaji is Karupisu, its pronounced "Cow Piss"). Go Japan.
- lilwil, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3and that's not a real gun!
- Patori, on 06/02/2008, -1/+4http://engrish.com
- TheSnuffster, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3"probably"
- jozb, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3Pocari Sweat > Gatorade. ^^ they must be the ones coming from youtube and 4chan, their brains aren't developed enough to get the joke.
- Brododium, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3They also sell it in China, that's where I first saw it too.
- inactive, on 06/02/2008, -0/+3And it comes with SARS and Avian flu.
- rootsm3, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3you lost me at "***** loving fags". one because i'm a she-digger and two because you've made it abundantly clear that you're a dick
- DraxusD, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2Jesus, everyone a little anxious to mention they've been to Japan and tried Pocari Sweat? It's been explained like a dozen times already.... at least just do a quick scan of the comments before you post.
- fxu1989, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2dugg down, reported, blocked.
- smacksaw, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2In the Flickr comments it was pointed out that it's a PET bottle - a clever play on words as a pet drink/pet bottle.
- logload, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2We need to help the animals being put in sweat shops like these
- sovereign3, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2I've had this. The best I can describe it, it tastes like Lemon Gatorade. There's another brand called "Pocari Sweat," but it all tastes the same and has similarly strange names.
- Kronk42583, on 06/03/2008, -2/+4they're what plants crave!!!
i sincerely hope no one gets that reference as it was from one of the worst movies i've seen in years. brawndo was the only funny part. - supersoyboy, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2Japan has the popular drink "Calpis"
But to mee it sounds too much like "Cow Piss" - jamesov89, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2There is a Ren and Stimpy spot about a product very similar to this.
- smacksaw, on 06/02/2008, -0/+2Though it looks like cow milk combined with cow piss and tastes about the same...
