- rpieszak, on 09/13/2008, -32/+865Older than... well,.. something really, really old. You fill in the blank.
- ferrell, on 09/13/2008, -38/+516Older than McCain.
- Suzpaz, on 09/13/2008, -19/+497Owner: "Was that really necessary?"
Firefighter: "No, but it was one hell of a picture" - PhotoJustin, on 09/13/2008, -3/+419The hose can't kink at all, like a garden hose, so it has to run the way the hydrant points it.
- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -11/+361I think this picture is included in your "welcome to the internet" package.
- Vacks, on 09/13/2008, -12/+334I guess they could've but then they wouldn't get to destroy anything :D
- erbalot, on 09/13/2008, -4/+254while clicking to see the pic, I thought to myself "this better not be the one with the hose going through the car's windows."
- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -24/+262John McCain?
- whahaa, on 09/13/2008, -10/+239send this photo to at least 10 people in the next 30 minutes or firefighters will run their next hose through you.
- mswallace, on 09/13/2008, -6/+210I think trowing it over the trunk would have defeated the purpose of teaching this jackass a lesson.
- mathsciteach, on 09/13/2008, -21/+206Ah, sweet revenge.
- samyoungguitar, on 09/13/2008, -87/+262Couldn't have thrown it over the trunk?
- mybbq, on 09/13/2008, -39/+172Old picture is old
- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -3/+132I'm surprised that this isn't in sepia
- centran, on 09/13/2008, -10/+135and the guy that parks in front of a hydrant and puts lives and property at risk isn't a douchebag?
- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -5/+128It was necessary... Going over, under, or around the car would cause kinks in the line.
- manoftheisland, on 09/13/2008, -9/+129wow i think i went to the end of the internet and saw this again on the way back.
- kent1146, on 09/13/2008, -8/+121What's the difference between a porcupine and a BMW?
With the porcupine, the pricks are on the outside. - inactive, on 09/13/2008, -0/+100I once saw a firetruck push a stalled vehicle (BMW too) on the road to get past.
The fire fighters jumped out to push it but the car but the owner started freaking out and threatening them. the firetruck just roll right up against its bumper and pushed it instead. It went straight for about 5 feet until the owner got some brains and turned his wheel, rolling off the road.
Happened all in about a minute. - Fell, on 09/13/2008, -7/+101The 1990s called, they want their JPEG back
- strangewill, on 09/13/2008, -3/+92Nothing is that old.
- hotrod1, on 09/13/2008, -2/+86the hydrant connection is angled so they couldn't possible bend it back from the hydrant to get it over the trunk
- ivanxivann, on 09/13/2008, -3/+87Not that old.
- protyus, on 09/13/2008, -3/+86... my grandma's kick start pedal vibrator...
- centran, on 09/13/2008, -7/+89Nope. Like someone said; the hose would kink too much. Feeding it under the car also takes more time then you think breaking a window would.
Plus this is punishment. My grandfather was a firefighter and said that what you see there is common practice. Also, after the firefighters are done; they will fill up the car with water to make sure it is totaled. - whahaa, on 09/13/2008, -3/+80that's kinda what i meant, i was just trying to be subtle about it.
- ryancalderoni, on 09/13/2008, -7/+78Firefighters are trained to just take an axe to anything that gets in the way of putting out the fire and helping people, doors, walls, car windows...
- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -5/+76Nah, they didn't have fire hydrants in the mesozoic era.
- TigerStar337, on 09/13/2008, -4/+71This is old. This was also in the movie "BackDraft" in 1991.
- eir574, on 09/13/2008, -16/+82Yes, centran, he is, but we learn as children (most of us do, at least) that two wrongs don't make a right. I think the broken windows and the maximum fine allowed by law would be sufficient. It's too bad that so many people think there's an exception to normal standards of conduct if you're sufficiently annoyed.
- physicsguy, on 09/13/2008, -1/+65Yes, not destroying things is overrated.
- FabianN, on 09/13/2008, -0/+62I think purposely soaking the car, not alright. But I'm sure from removing the hose that there will be some water that gets into the car, and I think that they shouldn't care if there is a mess in the guy's car afterward.
- RockSlice, on 09/13/2008, -2/+63Because they used white paint
- Braxo, on 09/13/2008, -4/+63It's not like the hose is empty once it is disconnected from the fire hydrant so when the firefighters are done and pull the hose through there is about 6 gallons that will be dumped into the car. Judging from a 5" hose that is about 6' long.
I'm a firefighter and yes you can't have a kink in the hose and I do believe that if the firefighter dragged the hose in between the cars and wrapped a loop to the hydrant it would have been fine and probably quicker.
Our job is to save life and property, no destroy it like this self-rightous firefighter did. But if there is room we'd usually use the firetruck to push the car out of the way as we pull up. No room to do so in this situation. - MisterRik, on 09/13/2008, -3/+58They take an axe to things that get in their way of helping car windows?
- themastersb, on 09/13/2008, -6/+61This has to be as old as the Internets themselves.
- rodbotic, on 09/13/2008, -0/+53yah but if your a firefighter. you have been waiting years for an opportunity like this.
- MrChunks, on 09/13/2008, -1/+52This is so old, the original was carved in wood and brought over on the Mayflower by the pilgrim fathers.
- nomadxx7, on 09/13/2008, -15/+65It's called common sense and common decency. When did our society go so narcissistic? This guy was in the wrong and he got what was coming to him. For the firefighters who may be trying to save lives to waste time to feed their hose over and under this car because "two wrongs don't make a right" is *****. Firefighters expect that a "No Parking Zone" in front of a hydrant would allow them to pull up to a fire, put down the hose, run up to the hydrant, hook up and start fighting the fire. This guy deserved everything. Glad the firefighters did this.
- levelred, on 09/13/2008, -2/+50I swear this was the default wallpaper for Window 3.0 or OS/2 Warp I don't remember it has been so long...
- duggdowncatisad, on 09/13/2008, -22/+68Typical Beemer entitlement mentality.
- DenTPuzz, on 09/13/2008, -0/+45Not if he's illegally parked in front of a hydrant.
- TSK05, on 09/13/2008, -18/+62Older than dirt. I've seen this, on digg, at least 5 times.
- centran, on 09/13/2008, -2/+44I tell this to a lot of people... It is not stop and pull over for flashing lights; it's get the ***** out of their way! If that means you have to hop a curb, run a red light, pull your car off the road then do it!
- Me1000, on 09/13/2008, -1/+42eeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww....
- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -0/+39The curb might've been in the way. There's no telling how close that ***** parked to the curb.
- inactive, on 09/13/2008, -1/+39I saw the title and thought "Don't tell me it's this ***** picture again...". ***** everything man, I've lost all hope.
- flonglonger, on 09/13/2008, -0/+34Hey look I found the original
http://www.atrianglemorning.com/blogimages/yeehaw. ... - richbleak, on 09/13/2008, -15/+49This image was the first thing that was ever transferred over ARPANET. In memory of that great day people post this picture every 6 months as though it is brand new. It is literally older than the internet.
