- pendrachken, on 12/10/2007, -2/+31It's _NOT_ bad brakes, it is caused by the trailer air ride system being lowered. When you deflate the airbags the weight on the springs will shove the truck forward anywhere from 1 inch to almost a foot.

The air brakes in trailers often fail, causing it to slide forward while loading, the dock plate slips, and the dock fork hits the ground. I had to pull a fork that was halfway out of the trailer this week due to bad brakes. The other most common cause is the red safety light switched to green and the truck driver thinks its ok to pull.
