I've heard of freegans, who sift through trash to get free food and other goods. Or a young couple who decides to help the environment by reducing their energy bill. They buy the energy-efficient light-bulbs(which pay for themselves by lasting so long, let alone reduced energy cost). They use the money saved from this simple change to replace their 60's fridge and buy a used energy-star refrigerator. Now that their bill is 60% of their old bill, they use the savings to buy wind energy credits, so they've gone green without spending extra money! These are useful stories; this dude talks about getting credit extended for a week, and having his wife/friends pay for daily things. Welcome to the life of a poor person; except, everyone's always looking for credit and money, so it's a lot harder to get! This guy did not do anything creative to save money or to really analyze how much he spends (ie, how much cheaper is making food at home, compared with buying lunch?). Instead, he talks about the cost of haircuts....how bout finding the asian immigrant barber shop, instead of the boutique at the mall? Instead of talking about stiffing homeless children, how bout volunteering your time there? CNN is stupid, sensationalist, and utterly useless as usual.
