Luthor's plan is to make an island made out of Kryptonite so that Superman simply cannot deal with him. It's great. It forces Superman to do something other than just the standard "Superman pushes, alien/missile/asteroid doesn't move very much, Superman pushes harder, alien/missile/asteroid dies/moves away" lame plot. It's a great idea. Suddenly the movie could have an interesting "Superman outsmarts Luthor" plot!

Hes boring and a show off. Batman on the other hand has to use his keen instincts and knowledge of the battlefield to win his fights. Batman > Superman
