I would much rather spell "numbnut" than guess at "numnah," cause, really, who they ***** knows what a numnah is. - HiKevinRose, on 06/02/2008, -15/+1445 bucks that kid's dad programmed the spellchecker thing.
- inactive, on 06/02/2008, -4/+116Awesome kid.

- inactive, on 06/02/2008, -15/+75It's amazing how he isn't like "Oh well um...yeah uh um yes, it's um, well...um...N...u.....m.....n....a....h....i um....think..."
Confidence amongst spelling bee'ers...WHO KNEW THEY HAD IT!? - rhinopig, on 06/02/2008, -3/+53This is the spelling bee, not the grammar bee.
- Natitude, on 06/02/2008, -4/+53I thought he said numbnut too... I've never heard of numnah before... I don't know how he didn't just start spelling out numbnut haha
- MrFanrastic, on 06/02/2008, -2/+47"When something like that happens, the audience is happy to be happy." Holy *****, do we really need this inane commentary in a friggin' spelling bee?
- shadowspawn, on 06/02/2008, -7/+50It was like watching golf.
- linkinpark342, on 06/02/2008, -1/+40I'm naming my next cross GTK/Qt application gnumbknutte...

break.com is blocked at my work - mescad, on 06/02/2008, -1/+35Because, anytime you spell a word at the bee you have a chance of being eliminated. Go out on a word like numbnut and you guarantee yourself a lifetime of teasing, and possibly earn yourself a new nickname.
- xrEE, on 06/02/2008, -1/+34He was being funny, congratulations your sense of humour is lower then a 12 year old.

- rjhomuth, on 06/02/2008, -1/+26I thought he said "Indie"!
THAT'S A RELIEF - randomerratum, on 06/10/2008, -0/+25You should see the documentary "Spellbound" - it's amazing the kind of methods these kids use to figure out the spelling of a word. They're so familiar with pronunciation, world languages and such that with a definition and a language of origin they figure that stuff out on the spot.
- powatom, on 06/02/2008, -4/+29You really couldn't 'HAVE'.
Some of you could do with a grammar bee. - Linkin4, on 06/02/2008, -5/+28q...q...q...q...q...q...q..q
- Pssdoff, on 06/02/2008, -0/+23Well a little known fact is that the technically correct spelling actually would have been "gnumbknutte"
- ch0pin02, on 06/02/2008, -1/+23clue: the word was from hindi...
- digitaldivinci, on 06/02/2008, -3/+24For those who don't know, that was the eventual winner this year.
