- ophello, on 04/16/2008, -2/+2your sense of humor must be real mature then. how old are you, 13?
Does your mom know you're using her computer? make sure you delete your porn history.- Noureddin, on 04/19/2008, -4/+1Who me? Well, Whatever. I believe what you said more of a Immature Teen comment people say, they say like: "What are you? ##?" ## = low age. And then comes some "Does you dad/mom know you're using you're computer?" which is also old. But, The porn history thing is sightly new to me. I already know its been used allot but man... How sad. And sightly hypocritical since you're whole comment was just stupid and immature.
Also, I just got dugg down like ... 15 times? Seesh. Just proved my point. That their are such stupid and nerdish kids who ACTUALLY laughed at this failed and pitiful video.
Now Thats FUNNY in a very sad way... LOOK! This is top for the last 7 days! And like 5500 diggs? ***** losers! omg... I might just boycott dig... this is sad...Sooo much nerds on digg.
Here's a tip... Get a life.

- SuperWinner, on 04/12/2008, -12/+159Pedophiles go after prepubescents, not post-pubescents. You cannot be a pedophile if you date an 18 year old... this is a disturbing trend in society that any man who dates a girl more than 5 seconds younger than him, (even if shes 22 years old) must be a pedo.
- Sccerd129, on 04/12/2008, -42/+5Seriously guy, if you've figured out every pedophile in the world please contact the police or something. No one even said how old the guy was but the guy taping is right, get some damn sense in your head to go to some random persons "friends" house you met on myspace. I'm only 21 and that still seems like a retarded move there.
- sexybobo, on 04/12/2008, -1/+37"Pedophilia or paedophilia is the primary or exclusive sexual attraction of adults to prepubescent children."
If they are going after a post-pubescents it is called Ephebophilia.- DocHoliday22, on 04/12/2008, -1/+15It's also called legal at 18
- rotten777, on 04/12/2008, -0/+16Did you just call me a ephebophiliac?
- sexybobo, on 04/12/2008, -0/+8I probably should have used the word adolescent instead of post-pubescent since that includes every one over the age of 13.
I would also like to point out that people who are attracted to adolescents are fairly socially acceptable in most cultures 16&17 year old girls are hot) but having relations with them is taboo/illegal in a lot of western countries. (You can look but you can't touch)
- sexybobo, on 04/12/2008, -0/+8I probably should have used the word adolescent instead of post-pubescent since that includes every one over the age of 13.

- x1soundgarden1x, on 04/12/2008, -8/+1oh please, the guy could have been 63 years old. Stop trying to justify your fantasies to have sex with girls young enough to be your granddaughter. Just because it's legal for grandpa to have sex with an 18 year old does not mean it's emotionally, financially, or responsibly justified. Or do you think that some dumbass 18yo who meets grandpa on myspace at his friends house has the same mental maturity as she would at 35? Grow up pervert and date someone your own age.
- Sccerd129, on 04/12/2008, -42/+5Seriously guy, if you've figured out every pedophile in the world please contact the police or something. - OatmealBatman2, on 04/12/2008, -5/+1I thought the quote from South Park that we're supposed to parrot this week was "How do I reach these kids?" My bad.
- DatoeDakari, on 04/12/2008, -2/+3Yes but, how does that apply to this, oh and sorry if we commonly find something funny and show it by quoting lines, would you rather us say 'hey, you know that scene from south park, yea, this guy said the same thing haha, that was funny, south park is a funny show lol" we can't all be social retards like you. Please, have a nice day
- OatmealBatman2, on 04/12/2008, -2/+1By all means, continue repeating that South Park joke, just like hundreds of others on this video's comments alone. If that's your idea of humor, run with it. I'd like to know how pointing this out somehow makes me a "social retard," as you so eloquently put it.
- DatoeDakari, on 04/13/2008, -1/+1 'Socially awkward' would probably be better suited and more politically correct to describe you. Sorry if I offended your mother by using the term 'retard'. As for your question, I apologize on behalf of the majority, who in fact, do find it funny. I can tell by your comments, that it would most likely be safe to assume not everyone can match your witty and ever so intelligent sense of humor; even so, it doesn't matter if you didn't think it was funny, pointing out that we're all parrots, because most of us agree it WAS funny, just makes you seem elitist or pretentious, which would, in most social situations be awkward/retarded, hence my comment.
Peace
- DatoeDakari, on 04/12/2008, -2/+3Yes but, how does that apply to this, oh and sorry if we commonly find something funny and show it by quoting lines, would you rather us say 'hey, you know that scene from south park, yea, this guy said the same thing haha, that was funny, south park is a funny show lol" we can't all be social retards like you. IN THE BUTT! - DelayedEraser, on 04/12/2008, -39/+166okay seriously does NOBODY feel guilty about having just seen that? that girl is clearly a bit of a dumbass but goddamnit... her mom and her brother gang up on her and make rape jokes at her until she cries, then put it on the internet. Have a ***** heart.
- svetty, on 04/12/2008, -13/+4i'm with you eraser.

- svetty, on 04/12/2008, -5/+3yeah, you're right.
- Noureddin, on 04/12/2008, -1/+3You're not... But, I'm with Eraser... I tried to post a comment that was quite true and it got dugg down by the nerdish kids that are ACTUALLY laughing at this.
But, I guess they took the "Insults" Personal...even though they are true. Truth hurts.

1. Not everyone in the world is a criminal.
2. If there was sex, it's not unreasonable to assume that it was consentual.
3. She's 18. Move out and get over it.
4. OMG DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS IT'S 10PM!!! omg!1- DelayedEraser, on 04/12/2008, -6/+9if you don't get why yelling at a girl about her getting anally raped until she cries on video is a mean thing to do, then you're a real bastard
- CommentPoster, on 04/12/2008, -1/+0I didn't even mention that part of the video.
- 2oonhed, on 04/12/2008, -4/+3baaaah-WAAAAA......her family is doing her the biggest favor of her life, after all, she could have been raped in the butt by that random myspace dude........OH, we already established that earlier......in the butt.
- icebrk, on 04/12/2008, -1/+5If she's too stupid to be making decisions about who to meet and consent at 18, it's the parents fault for not raising their kids right.
- widman, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1You are not a parent or are a repressive religious one thinking all is OK.

- DelayedEraser, on 04/12/2008, -2/+21fair enough. i shouldn't really say "guilty" – but yeah, I didn't laugh either.
good thing there's 2000 diggers making fat jokes about her to ease her pain...- widman, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1Digg is full of sociall ackward douches who need to make fun of other people to feel better. The video is funny, the fat jokes are very lame.
- Epik, on 04/12/2008, -4/+9Oh come on, I don't think it's going to ruin her life. Have a laugh.
- deMonkey, on 04/12/2008, -3/+10I didn't laugh because I thought it wasn't funny. Maybe 10 years ago, but in my late 20s I don't find "in the butt!" repeated 20-times by a kid to be that clever...
Whether or not it will ruin her life isn't something I'm that worried about, I posted it half-joking. But I imagine her rep at school, with friends, etc won't be helped when a million+ people watch that video. I'd at least call it a "dick move" on his part. :) - DaffyDuck, on 04/12/2008, -1/+2I didn't think it was that funny either. Perhaps if I were more of a juvenile...

Why not some public place. nah, butt rape is more fun. - Funktastic, on 04/12/2008, -0/+4I think she was crying because "Kevin" found out she was cheating on him and he sent her an email saying as much. - gcnaddict, on 04/12/2008, -5/+19I always find the "I'm 18!! I can do whatever I want (even though I still live in your house)" argument hilarious. If I was in the mother's shoes, the conversation would go something like this:
d: "BUT I'M 18!! OMG I'M 18. YOU CANT CONTROL ME BECAUSE I'M 18!"
m: "Okay, well how about I just keep that car. Hm? Oh, you want to move out too? Fine by me. There's the door."- spudnic, on 04/12/2008, -11/+4That makes absolutely no sense. It's obviously not that you're concerned for their safety if you'd chuck them out completely, seems to me you just want to control them.
- Elderon, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4are you daft? what's there not to understand. Duh the point is to control them. It's their house so their rules. if the OMG im 18 yr old wants to mooch off the parents then they must learn that there are rules that must be followed if they want to keep getting food, transport, shelter..etc. I'd say teaching them that lesson will do more for the brats safety in the long run.
- acasselm, on 04/12/2008, -1/+0I agree with Elderon simply cause kids have no respect now a days period if I had a child and was dis respectful they are done for i will not tolorate it simply cause my parents punished me when I was in trouble and they were right about it. If I would sit there and mouth off at my parents like she did with her mom it would have been worse.

- skyroket, on 04/12/2008, -1/+13Yeah, you're implying that all white households are like the white household in the video, and that no other race would have a similar disobedience issue of a teenage younger brother.
This is the problem with racism and bigotry in America today.

- hakz, on 04/12/2008, -1/+6you are kidding about the overbearing mother right? I mean she MET someone from myspace. You are taught not to do that kind of ***** from a very young age.
- happycat, on 04/12/2008, -4/+2Are YOU kidding me? She is 18 and her mother imposes a curfew on her-she's old enough to vote, old enough to join the military, old enough to be tried as an adult in court, but her poor mommy who is afraid of facing the impending and inevitable empty nest thinks she's not old enough to stay out past 10PM. No, the mom's not overly possessive at all. < /sarcasm >
Secondly, the fact she knew him from myspace is irrelevant. How is meeting someone from online more dangerous than meeting a stranger that asked you out in person? Neither will have 'I'm going to assault you' written across their forehead. It was stupid of her and she showed terrible judgment by going to his friends house instead of meeting in a public place, not simply because it was some guy she met from myspace.

Ahhh... life.- PleaseJustDie, on 04/12/2008, -2/+5I never did, when I grew up I showed to my parents I could be responsible by telling them the "truth" and letting them know when I would be home late. As a result I was the only one out of my siblings who didn't go through those types of moments.

- HyperionHK, on 04/12/2008, -2/+8I don't actually see anything very wrong with that. I have no problem with an 18 year old meeting someone they met online. They are old enough to make an informed decision on the risk. I met up with a few people I met online when I was 19, and that was only because I didn't get a chance to meet them earlier.
She's got a point about her being 18 and not needing so much parenting. She should have told her mom that she was going out after work and approx when she would be back, other than that, I don't see a problem with it. I know when i've spent time at home since 18+ I asked permission to go places. I'd usually ask if it would ruin any existing plans my mom had, but that's about it. If I wanted to go out with friends, the only rule was that I let her know approx when I was going to be home. If I was going to be late, I call and let her know. If I wanted to go visit friends for a weekend elsewhere, I just let her know in advance and went, there was no real asking of permission.
I admit the brother's comments, while retarded and stupid, did make me laugh a couple times.- Jrr6415sun, on 04/12/2008, -1/+5I agree, but If you're going to meet a stranger, you should atleast tell your parents what you're doing and not lie to them.. I think the mom would have been ok if the girl said look I met this guy on myspace this is the address I will be there until 10pm you don' t need to worry about me. She also ignored her mom's phone calls when she was worried about where she was.

- robeph, on 04/12/2008, -15/+8eh? doesn't matter, that's a fiscal matter not a matter of being a bitch gripe of a parent. - radu79, on 04/12/2008, -3/+11Well, technically she can do whatever she wants, but the problem is, most likely she does not make enough money, so she needs her parents to give her food and shelter (and a car, I guess).
This being said, I think her brother was a huge ***** to post that online, and if I were that girl, I'd do everything possible to move the hell out, and never talk to my familly again.- blahtastic, on 04/12/2008, -4/+7The brother's being a jerk, but she's still a moron, and doubly so for trying to defend her actions (though I'm not sure why she got hell for it being 10pm?). Hope we get a video of that too :) )
Anyway, goes by herself to meet a guy from the internet she doesn't really know at a private residence with his other male friend. That breaks so many rules of net safety and common sense it's not even funny. - radu79, on 04/12/2008, -3/+4Yes, but we don't know the whole story, it's possible that they've met before, or they had common friends, etc.

In fact we all need to make bad decisions , its called learning. Mom and little annoying brother need to just shut the ***** up. - makkaveli19, on 04/12/2008, -1/+10well then her parents have to right to refuse giving her a hard and support. she is still dependent on them and they can make rules for the house. if she doesn't like it then she can GTFO. thats how i'm raising my kids.
- CommentPoster, on 04/12/2008, -3/+0I'll laugh when your kids GTFO and you wasted all that money on people you'll never see again.
- delfin1, on 04/12/2008, -1/+11first off the brother is an idiot f'sho. I remember bothering my sister like this when i was younger and that's not the right way to help your sister, i regret not being more a friend to her back then, we took our relationship for granted.
She is 18 but still lives in her mom's house, she is probably a student, and if she had a job i doubt that she gives any money to her parents and if she does it would be very little money. She gets free room, free food; and all she had to do is follow the rules. "Be home by THIS time, or if not CALL,"; no phone? ...*****!, there is phones all around.
I believe there is a feeling that i will not understand untill i have children of my own; but perhaps it is that parents are constantly worrying about their kids, parents want their kids to be happy, and also they know them very well.
The mom in this case, knows her daughter can be irresponsible, so when she was not home by 7 she began to worry, and probably called her a few times, after a couple of hours, she begins to imagine the worse!, she loves her daughter so much, she will call her daughter's friends, maybe she can locate her and she will be ok; no such luck. it's 10:00, and suddenly she comes in with an attitude of princess. The mother must be relieved, but also angry, because her daughter has caused her so much pain. So she tries to find out where she was, the mother is angry so she tries to annoy the daughter with many questions. The daughter doesn't respect her mother so she gives her attitude. ... i am tired good night. - jmg703, on 04/12/2008, -0/+6I'd rather have parents be slightly overprotective than completely oblivious. What world do you live in where over-parenting is a problem? THIS ISNT EVEN BEIN GOVERPROTECTIVE.. this is being smart.
- foofighter828, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1I don't think nanny state means what you think it means.

- siszam, on 04/12/2008, -2/+15She can make her own decisions when she can pay her own rent and take care of herself without mommy and daddy. Ever hear the phrase "My house, my rules"?
- aprestia, on 04/12/2008, -8/+6I agree actually, I mean the girl's clearly a dumbass but at 18 it's her own responsibility if she's a dumbass. Course I never had a curfew and my parents never expected me to tell them where I was going once I was 18.... and I was never stupid enough to go out with a guy I met on myspace... but I was allowed to make other dumb decisions on my own, and nothing really bad ever came of it. I think any parent who freaks out when their 18 year old doesn't come home till 10 has got issues of their own.

- goldfishey, on 04/12/2008, -0/+9when I was 18, I would generally make it home for breakfast. :) I think the difference is communication, I never kept secrets from my parents and we worked out a system where I would tell them where I was going, and if I went somewhere else during the night then I phoned it in and left a message on the machine - that way if I didnt show up when expected they could tell the police my movements. I think the problem this mum has is really that her daughter doesnt tell them what she's up to. You have to let go of your kids eventually, no matter how hard and terrifying it is. But kids could make the process easier.

- mrsammercer, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1The mom is insane for flipping out about the fact that she was home "late" at 10 O'clock. That is an insane curfew for an 18 year old, even stricter than the law provides for a 15 year old. However, she did happen to catch her coming home from meeting some random dude from myspace. In the butt.

- kylere, on 04/12/2008, -0/+8The 18 year olds who are not already mothers do, regardless of race.
- HyperionHK, on 04/12/2008, -5/+8No, my mom realized that at 18 I was old enough to make my own decisions. The only real rule was that if I was going out, I call or leave a note or something to let her know when I would be back. If I was going to be late, I call and let her know so she doesn't worry (she's a worrier). If I wanted to stay out all night somewhere, fine, just call and let her know where I was.
It sounds like her only mistake was not letting her mom know approx when she would be home, as that would be a reasonable thing to do while still living at home.- jadrian, on 04/12/2008, -1/+3So basically your "No" is a "Yes".

- catwoman2970, on 04/12/2008, -0/+8i think it's great the mom handled this very well. she didn't break into hysterics like my mom would have. instead she maintained her position as head of household and sent a message to her daughter that she won't be ***** with. and yes loved the laughing on camera. this woman as a sense of humor. her daughter is going to look back and thank her mom one day.

Props to the bro for the commentary... Also, Props to the girl for the fake crying... BRILLIANT! Lastly, back to props to the Mom, for having a sense of humor about the IN THE BUTT!
- liah, on 04/12/2008, -35/+32...Really?
Maybe my family's completely ***** up, then, because we don't treat swearing as that hugely taboo... At 18 I did have my own independence and was allowed to use whatever wording I wanted. Were you really that controlled at that age? I mean, come on... 18? Be more sheltered. :- BlackKnight6, on 04/12/2008, -1/+48I think its the swearing at the parent part. I could swear, but not directed toward my parents when I was younger.
- Samohtneas, on 04/12/2008, -1/+18This is how it should be.
- LordVance, on 04/12/2008, -0/+24Exactly; it's not about your use of language in personal life, but about respect for people above you in the food chain. Whether it is the people putting a roof over your head, or your boss at work, or your teacher at school - show some ***** respect.
- Samohtneas, on 04/12/2008, -1/+18This is how it should be.
- siszam, on 04/12/2008, -7/+45So to you swearing equals independence and freedom? In our family it's considered trashy to throw curse words into everyday conversation. It's not "sheltered" to speak like a respectful, educated person. It's just decent, mature behavior.
- Samohtneas, on 04/12/2008, -3/+7 PROTIP: Most people don't speak very respectfully when they're upset.
- brettmurf, on 04/12/2008, -0/+7PROTIP: Most 18 year old girls on Myspace talk like idiots regardless of their current mood.
- aprestia, on 04/12/2008, -1/+10My parent taught me that swear words were fine as long as you use them only as intended - i.e. to express extreme emotions, and while they certainly wouldn't be pleased if I sweared at THEM (well, wouldn't be now, actually) they also wouldn't give me grief about it, since it's my right as an adult to use whatever words I want when I want to.
- delfin1, on 04/12/2008, -2/+6i don't swear, my my sister swears a lot; i guess that's how i learned not to swear, because she sounds ignorant. It's also about the people you are around, i swear when i hang out with my friend who is not offended by bad words; but i would never swear in front of people i don't know their reaction to that kind of language.
Also ladies swearing is very unattractive (sometimes)- Verz, on 04/12/2008, -2/+2Wow. Can you tell that story again?
- fantasyflamz, on 04/12/2008, -1/+6With my father being a pastor and all, I was raised very conservatively. Thankfully, I am against that most of what they've taught me and have come up with my own code of ethics.
Pretty much I think that swearing is okay around your friends and such, but at formal occasions, work, and family (if they're against it) then you should grant them respect and restrict what you say. - lanium, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1I can safely say I have never said the word "*****" in the presence of my parents or siblings.
saying someone is a bitch or calling my dad a dumbass is about all that flies, although its understandable because I have little brothers and sisters.
I pretty much figured out they weren't down with it when i was 14 and used the word "ass" in the car and i got a talk about whats appropriate family language and the silent treatment for the rest of a 5 hour car ride. - mrASSMAN, on 04/12/2008, -0/+2My parents never really cared about swear-words.. but I only use them when necessary. Mostly to myself when I'm angry.
- BlackKnight6, on 04/12/2008, -1/+48I think its the swearing at the parent part. I could swear, but not directed toward my parents when I was younger.
- smizacks02, on 04/12/2008, -2/+36well said smokes. i applaud you in the butt
- Smokes, on 04/12/2008, -1/+2My butt welcomes you... on youtube... or myspace. :-)
- gmkash, on 04/12/2008, -5/+13While 18 year olds have all the freedoms of anyone else and can say whatever they want including the f word, a parent paying for a car and housing and more does have the leverage to punish a child living under his/her roof.
However, it's so completely unreasonable to not allow an 18 year old the freedom to come and go as it builds responsibility and teaches independence that the girl will need when she ever moves out.
Most people need the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them on their own.- aprestia, on 04/12/2008, -1/+3Agreed. I think it's fine that she took away the car, it's her car, but freaking out cause you 18 year old isn't home by 10?? Definitely not a mother who believes in letting her children learn from experience...
- rotten777, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4She responsibly could have got butt raped in the butt.
- Samohtneas, on 04/12/2008, -1/+4I don't understand that either. 10 o'clock curfew for an 18 year old? Thats just being overly protective. Your little girl will never learn something is stupid or wrong if she doesn't screw up first.
Albeit on this occasion that screwup could've cost her her life.. but still.- omgwhat, on 04/13/2008, -1/+1it might be a school night...i think most of the problem is that she was gone and no one knew where she was. i think 10 o'clock would be late enough to be freaking out if she wasn't home yet.
- sardiax, on 04/12/2008, -1/+11Seriously though, an 18 year old with a 10 o' clock curfew? By the time I was 14, they stopped giving me a curfew. I always told my folks where I was going, and they trusted me. As long as I was going to school on time and got all my ***** done, they wouldn't give me a curfew.. I mean they'd be pissed if I didn't come home by the time the sun rose or something, but most of the time I was home for atleast 4 hours of sleep before school. As for cursing, it's very important to note that there is a difference between swearing AROUND someone, and swearing AT someone.
- capnrefsmmat, on 04/12/2008, -3/+6sardiax: that's probably because you established trust with them. Parents who don't trust their children have to act like the parents in the video.
- Jb611, on 04/12/2008, -3/+4I accidentally gave you a thumbs down. Meant to digg you up. It's the thought that counts.
- Zekarus, on 04/12/2008, -2/+2Then it shows how you at 14 compares with that young lady in the video when she's 18, eh?
I applaud you, sir. - ashleegirl, on 04/12/2008, -1/+2Maybe it wasn't a curfew, maybe the girl told her mother around noon that she was going to a friend's house for a couple hours. The mother then needed to ask the daughter something and called her a few times but she didn't answer. So the mother called the friend to get a hold of her daughter, but the friend said that she hadn't seen the daughter all day. So by 10 the mother has no idea where the daughter is. Is that not a reason to worry?
- capnrefsmmat, on 04/12/2008, -3/+6sardiax: that's probably because you established trust with them. Parents who don't trust their children have to act like the parents in the video.

- robeph, on 04/12/2008, -4/+3dysfunctional? she's a ***** adult... she has every right to do what she wants, as long as it doesn't perturb the homefront, ie burning down the house, 18 or not wouldn't be good. Just to preempt the "well what if she burnt down the house, she's 18" crew that torments digg with moronic comments.... but seriously...come on man.
- SuicideMouse, on 04/12/2008, -1/+3While I would be heavily embarrassed at having some of my "fights" with my parents when I was younger posted, that would quickly be overcome with laughter and I wouldn't be mad.

Except for the mom, I don't know any British moms like that, however I don't go there often and I only know a few moms there well enough to say. - aprestia, on 04/12/2008, -2/+2*MY* British mother would slap that women round the ears if she heard her behaving like that. - robeph, on 04/12/2008, -9/+19he's not really that funny... or bright...pedophiles like kids, not 18 yr old adults..
- NSMike, on 04/12/2008, -2/+16He was just instigating.
- robeph, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3yeah, but if you instigate say, a group of Mexicans by calling them derogatory names for say, Italians, it's more like wtf, than instigatory or even funny...
- Vorin, on 04/12/2008, -1/+1pedophiles prob could still get off with an 18 year-old.
- familynight, on 04/12/2008, -0/+3i thought it was funny. i also think it's kind of funny that a vocal minority of diggers are commenting on this issue. i realize that you all are just being word usage nazis, but it sounds like a bizarre defense of the nobility of pedophilia, as though you are concerned with someone sullying the term by implying that a pedophile might be interested in an eighteen year old.
- allhard, on 04/12/2008, -2/+3No, it is just the fact that anyone with an IQ in the double digits is sick of pegging everyone as "Pedophiles" when that only tailors to one specific type of sexual perversion.
- Myonosken, on 04/12/2008, -1/+1@allhard: ......paedo.
- AROZ, on 04/12/2008, -0/+1No, but there are predators in their 30s and 40s that just want to take advantage of girls who think they can handle anything at 18.
- Anonymous99, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Some people on digg cease to amaze me. For all we know, it was her birthday the day before this was filmed...or maybe a week or month before. Maybe the brother just hasn't gotten used to the fact that she's 18 yet. He's not stupid! It would have been pedophilia had it been perhaps a month, week, day before. Why is everyone criticizing him so much for this? He trips up speaking when he talks about losing the car for 2 weeks...i think it was a worse screw up than pedophilia...but it was still hilarious
- NSMike, on 04/12/2008, -2/+16He was just instigating.

She's going to go to college, be piss drunk half the time, try every drug known to man, and bang half the guys on campus thanks to that kind of parenting...
- familynight, on 04/12/2008, -1/+5get all that from that little clip, did you? ready to pass judgment on a family and determine a person's future from three minutes, fifty-one seconds with zero context? i bet there isn't a single chunk of four minutes from your life that points to anything other than a shining paragon of humanity.
- Steven8890, on 04/12/2008, -1/+2burn
- weirdness67, on 04/12/2008, -1/+2Well, first of all I was speaking in general terms to make a point, and that point is: she's been restricted her whole life by her anal-retentive overbearing mother so as soon as she gets the chance she's going to cut loose and raise hell.
Second of all, it's one of those things that you've seen so many times you recognize the pattern very quickly and are able to predict, with surprising accuracy, what is probably going to result. Kind of like if you learn, over a period of 5 minutes and lets say you don't even know the person so it's second hand info., that an individual was abused in a very specific way as a child (I'm not calling what happen to this girl 'abuse', so don't put words in my mouth)--do you think you could make some pretty specific predictions about what specific behaviors are very likely to result in adulthood? Sure. Would you be 100% certain that it will happen--no, there's exceptions to every rule, but the point is that the rule itsefl still stands and is, on average, correct most of the time.- familynight, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1you can't compare that clip to a case of abuse. you can predict effects of an episode of abuse because it is a significant and traumatic episode pretty much always to some degree. getting grounded as a high school kid is not a traumatic episode. maybe, the next five minutes were the mom comforting the girl and calmly talking to her. she laughed while she was yelling. yeah, she was overreacting, but c'mon, eveyone's parents have overreacted at one time or another and it hasn't necessarily had negative longterm effects on their kids.
you're making big assumptions in order to fit this girl within your rule, and even your rule is highly questionable. i have lots of friends with crazy parents. yeah, they might have some issues about their parents, but those issues don't run their lives. all i'm saying is that you have no idea of the degree to which the mom acts that way and no idea of how much effect the mother's behavior (whatever it is) has on the girl. anyway, you shouldn't assume negative ***** about people. even this girl, deserves the benefit of the doubt...in the butt.
