- atommclain, on 10/12/2007, -3/+54Watching this video I don't know if I should laugh or cry.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34You just ruined my childhood. But I had fun while you were ruining it!
- Lisztman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26Whats most depressing is that this is not too far from what could happen in our "modern" society. Childish imagination is squelched and treated like a disease these days if it is too "far flung."
After the initial unexpected shock driven humor, this is, if anything, a sobering social commentary. :/ - billymachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Watterson is a true artist. I love that guy! : )
- victorycig, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Yeah, definitely puts a new spin on an old childhood favorite...
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21Hey that's not what Calvin's voice sounds like!
- Andicow, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18I did a little of both! That was sick and twisted but amusing nonetheless!
- musters, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Robot Chicken is awesome
- blinkfink182, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Ditto. I've been a fan for almost the entire existence of Calvin & Hobbes. Great comic that can say a lot about life and having children.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16You mean he doesn't sound like a 55 year old woman who smokes two packs a day? Again, my childhood memories have been dashed!
- KVargs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12woot for growing up in the same small town bill waterson did, chagrin falls, ohio.....yeah thats about all i have going for me
- billymachine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11You can come over to my house, I have all the books! : )
- Lazybones, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Welcome to Robot Chicken...
- Platypus3333, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12This video is so remarkably depressing that I can't bring myself to stop watching it.
- MikeOSX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12you dont have to watch the clip to digg the story
- mikesherov, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Ha, my favorite part is when Calvin does the narration for the ferocious tiger. Reminds of all the Sunday strips where Calvin narrates the Spaceman Spiff, or a ferocious T-Rex, or a disgusting fly. Hilarious!
- jmontes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Hobbes represents Jesus, the parents Joseph & Mary, ..., umm..., help me out psicom, because I have absolutely nothing here!
- SwankRock3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I found this mildly amusing, and while I don't think there should be any "sacred cows" when it comes to parody or satire, this comes awful close to me. I've always had a massive amount of respect for Bill Watterson, and I don't really like seeing C+H messed with.
But, it did remind me of the existence of this (admittedly old) article, which links Fight Club to C+H, and is an interesting read:

- Afroman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I love Robot Chicken, but i agree with some of you.. Bill W was great and he was funny with out all the vulgar/stupidity that you see in alot of comedy now.
Now, i know i will get dugg down.. but here is my one of favorite CH strips.
http://bleedingwound.com/~afroman/ch_dreams.jpg - Xinareiaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Lol, I am mormon and I DID like it.
- Soniti, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Calvin doesn't have a voice. That's why Bill Watterson stopped making calvin and hobbes- because they wanted to make a cartoon out of it.
~Soniti - ippersiel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I concur. It would be like showing how realistic Marmaduke is. A dog can't order pizza and a pizza delivery guy would never present the pizza to the dog.
Another great skit from Robot Chicken! - Depthfunction, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I agree: Calvin's voice isn't right, but I liked Hobbes' voice. A pretty cool vid.
- Soniti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4woops my bad-
- crawfishsoul, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Rootneg2, whoever dugg/diggs you down for that comment has no soul.
BTW, anybody know of a good site to see C&H strips? GoComics won't let me view earlier than Oct 95. - socceralien26, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4amazing...the rest of the ep is hilarious as well, thanks MoonsFang
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5It does? Exemplify, please.
- DangerMouse9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@beeteedee
So if you get to execute the creator of something you don't like, does that mean the rest of us do as well? You don't have to watch it you know, there are 300 other channels with mindless drivel on it that you can occupy your time with. - WhiteRaven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't think you gave it a chance. There is no insult to imagination here at all. It draws a clear distinction between imagination and delusion. The fact that the comics never really made it clear how Calvin's "world" worked leaves an opening for this "what if" scenario.
- SpacemanSpiff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Spaceman Spiff FTW.
- loquax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This reminds me of that great SNL short about Davy and Goliath where Davy is the Son of Sam and Goliath is the devil dog. I'm a big C&H fan, but if you can't laugh at a parody, you're probably missing a lot of the Humor in C&H anyway.
- simX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Um, yeah. If this is parody, it's some pretty lame-ass parody. Did we really need somebody to point out the obvious inconsistency between what Calvin perceives of Hobbes and what Calvin's parents perceive of Hobbes? I mean, you pretty much need to accept that from the very first strip (willful suspension of disbelief). And did we really need to watch 90 seconds of video that destroys what each of us thinks of how Calvin talks and replaces it with some lame voice actor?
This is much more effective: http://img472.imageshack.us/my.php?image=calvinaddremix5rk.jpg (Via: http://digg.com/celebrity/Ritalin_destroys_Calvin_Hobbes ) - MikeOSX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Robot Chicken never fails to impress!
- FlapJaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, that was pretty close to what I though Hobbes sounded like in my head when I read the comics.. but not Calvin.
Still, Calvin and Hobbes ***** rocks. End of story. - WhiteRaven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It played on the thoughts we all had when reading those comics. "Okay, so is Hobbes real or not"? Not only was the bit funny, it was actually rather deep.
Aside from commemorating C&H, the bit actually achieved two seemingly contradictory things at the same time... it showed the tragedy of forced conformity and it also reminded us that yes, there really is crazy.
Maybe I'm trying to put too much weight into this but I think this really said something profound. We must foster individuality and creativity (for I think most of us felt sorry for Calvin when it seemed that his childlike innocence and imagination were being trampled) but this doesn't mean we should allow or condone destructive behavior. A real world example would probably be the way rap can sometimes feed into a violent lifestyle. It would be wrong to stifle the creativity of rap but that creativity does not excuse crime. - WhiteRaven, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2One of the best C&H strips of all time points out the similarities of Santa Clause and God... both big mysteries that expect things from us in exchange for presents but when you get right down to it... they're nowhere to be seen.
Calvin & Hobbes isn't the least bit Christian, it promotes *FREE THOUGHT*. Try it some time. - blunto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just think that this is a way of how to look at the comics. Calvin and Hobbes is too one of my favorite comic books, but I really liked this skit, as always, it's really fun+stupid, robot chicken style.
- bmxboy661, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i love robot chicken
- TheWriteGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Growing up I enjoyed reading C&H. But in later years, toward the end of its run, I couldn't help but notice a disturbing, sad subtext: Calvin's parents had no names, and they seemed to be in a loveless marriage. Calvin's dad particularly seemed angry a lot, and emotionally distant from his son. This would explain why Calvin "escaped" into his fantasy world with his imaginary best friend Hobbes.
Yeah, I know: I'm reading way too much into a comic strip. But this Robot Chicken sketch reminded me of this theory of mine. - hannahmar, on 06/11/2009, -1/+2I'm not a huge fan of Robot Chicken and I rarely like the skits. This one is really no exception. It just kind of made me sad, Calvin and Hobbes are my favorite comic characers and I think the parody was kind of lame. But that's just my opinion.
I like the way they "animate" Robot Chicken though, I think it's a really cool approach to a show. Very different, I like it. - SpacemanSpiff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If the episode had continued he would have become Spaceman Spiff and attempted a daring escape from the evil zorlok overlords.
- billymachine, on 10/12/2007, -15/+16Calvin and Hobbes is *way* funnier than *this* stuff. If you're not already a fan, go read some. Here's a start: http://www.progressiveboink.com/archive/calvinhobbes.htm
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1D:
there's an image about something like this, but i can't find it... - levyjl1988, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ROFLMAO, that explains everything!
- Macaddict102, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0here is the hole episode

http://www.azlivery.org - schmee123, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I'm NOT digging this. It's a complete insult to kids' imaginations... Calvin and Hobbes are my favorite comic, and I've always loved them... This is just stupid. I mean, who would be heartless enough to portray them this way? Ok, I'm done now.
