- inactive, on 07/19/2009, -6/+1114I just quit working for Comcast a few days ago. I couldn't take it anymore. They are the most hated company I have ever been with/dealt with. It was so aggravating hearing how much people hate it and you take it personally because they are screaming at you directly. Their internet is a scam BTW guys. They boost the speed for the first 10MB of a download so when you run a speed test it looks like you're actually getting good speeds. Their internet is a scam. Their phone service never works. Their TV channel offerings are PITIFUL compared to FiOS. Sorry, but I'm still pissed off that this company is even able to survive.
- socivitus, on 07/19/2009, -11/+662These are not the droids you're looking for...
- GoldEdition, on 07/19/2009, -4/+535I think they wanted to say: "We only accept requests from SATISFIED customers."
- Neworab, on 07/19/2009, -9/+409Clever bastards.
- shakesmcjunkie9, on 07/19/2009, -0/+386They can survive because they are more or less an monopoly in many areas--sadly, including mine. I wish they wouldn't survive though... their customer service is bar none the worst I've ever encountered. I had to wait an hour on the phone once only to be told that I should call back again and then hung up on.
- inactive, on 07/19/2009, -4/+231I hate Comcast so friggin' much. But I never take it out on their techs because I'm sure they get grief daily, and I don't want to be the guy who finally sends one of them over the edge. Don't want to be responsible for a killing spree!
- MrSparkle666, on 07/19/2009, -0/+106Comcast has a temporary monopoly on high speed internet in my area, so I'm stuck until Verizon comes into my neighborhood. I've never had a more terrible customer service experience in my life. They wont send me a bill. They still charge me, but I have to remember to check my account periodically to see the charges, because they never notify me. What's worse is that they keep shifting around the due date every few months, so I have to check it a couple times a month just to make sure I don't miss a payment. I've tried to get them to send me a bill by snail mail. When they failed to do that I switched to email, and still nothing. I know they have the correct address because they send me junk mail all of the time, but never a bill. I've called them and nobody seems to be able to solve the problem.
What's worse is that they send me late notices just fine. If I don't pay my bill by the first of the month, even if my bill isn't due until after the first, they send me a notice in the mail telling me my payment is late, except the late notice often reaches me before my bill is even due! I called their customer service several times asking how they could send me a late notice for a bill that isn't even due yet, and they told me I just had to pay my bill early to stop the late notices from coming. They are driving me ***** insane! - rjc5056, on 07/19/2009, -3/+101Go away, comcast damage control team.
- nik707, on 07/19/2009, -1/+91I've had some good techs actually, its the company that sucks.
- technetix, on 07/19/2009, -6/+75Haha, good one. Another win brought to you by the people who dismantled TechTV.
- Silentnite85, on 07/19/2009, -0/+64Did you mean: My Comcast phone service never works, my bandwidth is terrible, and the channel line-up is subpar.?
Sorry, there are no documents matching your phrase. Please reword your statement, and type search. - inactive, on 07/19/2009, -2/+64Move along...
- gmiley, on 07/19/2009, -0/+56I used to have Comcast years ago when I first bought my condo, primarily because they were the only service in my area. First they began shuffling around their basic cable channels, dropping any decent channels I got and replacing them with Spanish language television channels. Then, occasionally my cable would go out with no explanation or estimate on when it would be back up.
I was so happy the day Sprint (now Embarq) started providing DSL in my neighborhood. I immediately switched. Dropped Comcast, got a dish installed, and upgraded my phone service to DSL. Haven't had any problems since then. - HoodyUK, on 09/08/2009, -3/+54I'm sure its an option but it's expensive and I imagine it's slow and provides quite a high latency (although I could be wrong)
- gmiley, on 07/19/2009, -0/+51"and the channel line-up is superb"
Superb? Really? Perhaps there is a new definition to the word 'superb' that I am not aware of. - wuhoo, on 07/19/2009, -19/+64comcast sucks
- inactive, on 07/19/2009, -2/+46I honestly think some people are posting here that work for Comcast's PR. I worked for Verizon FiOS AND Comcast and I any idiot that is saying Comcast is cheaper, offers better channel lineups, or has a better phone service has NOT had both. FiOS offers about 100 more channels in their basic package. Comcast's HD is simply pathetic. Literally, absolutely, ***** pathetic. I'm getting so pissed off about this is because I sold Verizon FiOS and switched to COmcast because they pay $400 a sale to switch people back from FiOS. Guess what? Everyone I talked to HATES Comcast and LOVES FiOS. Even people with Comcast I talk to I still ended up signing them up for FiOS. This isn't a promo and I don't work for either anymore. I'm just telling you how much better it really is.
- 7m7uf, on 07/19/2009, -0/+41G4 is a monstrosity -- Cops -- really WTF! I miss ZDTV. *Sniff*
- UndeadZmobie, on 07/19/2009, -1/+37Daddy, you're not even trying!
- rjc5056, on 07/19/2009, -1/+35Shill.
- nik707, on 07/19/2009, -2/+35***** comcast!
No surprise -if your using comcast service and saying bad things about them on here it is a violation of your terms of service. - andrewh7, on 07/20/2009, -0/+32If you live in Detroit, the only ground-based cable company is Comcast. However, they will only send out subcontractors for service and installation. I had a guy arrive with literally just the box and the remote with NO cables whatsoever. So, the "cable guy" asked me if I had a cable he could borrow. When he put the yellow plug in the red hole on the back of the TV, I told him to get the ***** out of my house and got the $20 installation charge refunded to my account.
- Moralogic, on 07/19/2009, -1/+26...I am satisfied that I am not using your services because you suck. Thank you Verizon.
There, I fixed it for you. - 510dustmite, on 07/19/2009, -0/+24When I signed up, I signed up for the basic "double play" high speed internet and basic cable. less than $70/mo. - not bad. Then I got the first bill- $100 plus install fees.
The guy who sold me the package added some HD box and package that I can't even use and never asked for, as well as a couple other "extras" that comcast gives us all the general reaming on. I've been trying for months, over many hours to find someone to reverse the superfluous charges, with everyone I spoke to both insisting that since the sales rep wrote it down, it was irrevocably true that I asked for the additional services, and conceding that his pay is commission based and work untrackable.
To alleviate the situation, I've been told "nothing can be done", I was offered a 10 dollar "credit", and told I could get the $70 package with reduced speed internet. I even encountered a "supervisor" who straight up told me the 70 package "did not exist" (had the flier and the websight right in front of me...). My last encounter was with a manager who had me return the box myself to reverse the charges (even had her repeat this claim multiple times, to the point where she demanded to know if she was being recorded), and yet they remain every month.
The only option I'm given in the area I live is to write to some random, ever-changing PO box in Seattle, in hopes of someone dealing with this nascence, or going back to DSL...
congratulations on quitting. - dnasty27, on 07/19/2009, -9/+32Hahaha, what do you expect?
Comcast doesn't know the difference between good and bad service! - kevinzak21, on 07/19/2009, -0/+23Cankillar: No you don't. Not for 5 years. Both Wild Blue and Hughes Net (the two providers in the US right now) use a direct satellite connection for uplink and downlink.
Hoody: Yes, it is extremely expensive. Upwards of 80-90 bucks a month for the highest tier that STILL include a very restrictive bandwidth cap. And the latency is terrible. 2500ms sometimes. I used satellite for 2 years.
It. Sucked. Ass. - TyrannousDotNet, on 07/19/2009, -3/+25Stop searching for knowledge base articles, and contact support.
- redballs21, on 07/19/2009, -0/+22I think they use to work with the KGB.
- cankillar, on 07/19/2009, -11/+31For satellite connections, you use the phone line for uploads. Dialup should stay back in the 90's.
- lewhich, on 07/19/2009, -3/+22Believe it or not, Verizon is just as bad. Every time I call they ask for my "verizon phone number" and since I don't have one, they spin my call around ... then they started billing differently from what I signed up for ... this is just BS
- skissors, on 07/19/2009, -1/+20Yes it is, you ***** moron.
- TwistableLime, on 07/19/2009, -1/+19Clever girl.
- reviver, on 07/19/2009, -1/+19I find articles like this interesting just because of how many people post a comment saying, "I use service xyz, because they're the only provider in my area."
This is exactly how the entire system is broken. - Riotblade, on 07/19/2009, -15/+32I've been having a pretty good service in the Bay Area for 4+ years now.
- Whitehat51, on 07/19/2009, -1/+18unless that killing spree takes place in the Comcast board of executives room.
- jake1337, on 07/20/2009, -0/+15BABY, IT IS A HUNDRED AND TWELVE DEGREES IN HERE! I was just repeatin' what I thought the dude was sayin'!
- slainbyte, on 07/19/2009, -4/+19Yeah my stuff works too. Apparently, if your happy with your service provider your opinion is not welcome here.
- Yankees368, on 07/19/2009, -2/+17Am I the only person on digg who actually thinks the day I will be able to sign up for Comcast will be a win for me? The only people in the US who can say "I wish I had Comcast" are the users who are locked into this company: http://arialink.com/
Overly expensive, incredibly poor customer service, piss poor channel lineup, reliability below that of an antenna for TV. Oh, and they are my only option. - Qumahlin, on 07/20/2009, -2/+17"Their internet is a scam BTW guys. They boost the speed for the first 10MB of a download so when you run a speed test it looks like you're actually getting good speeds"
Um...While I normally wouldn't defend comcast, its clear their training didn't cover how the service works. That is nothing about scamming customers, that is "powerboost" which is a feature of pretty much every CMTS on the market, Comcast just trademarked the name is all.
Back on the old CUBR's it was simply referred to as token bucket shaping.
It has nothing to do with scamming customers or speedtests, its a feature because it allows initial connections to burst since most standard browsing is not going to be grabbing more than 10mb of data to load a single page, also depending on the area you live it is boosted for more than 10mb.
I say this as an engineer having previously worked for the company. They are *****, but in this case your blatantly wrong/misinformed. - RandomHero420, on 07/19/2009, -0/+15Man Comcast put me in the hospital :( I was driving to my cousins when a comcast truck ran a stop sign and t boned my driver side of my car going 50 mph. I have been out of work since April my back is so ***** up. Thanks comcast high speed!
- prospektor, on 07/19/2009, -5/+20@cankillar
That just hasn't been true for some time. Please stop with the FUD, I have Satellite service on my RV, no phone line needed.
http://go.gethughesnet.com/faq/hughesnet-service-r ... - inactive, on 07/19/2009, -2/+15You do realize 1.2 mbytes is only 10MBIT connection right? FiOS is offering 25/15 which you will get CONSTANTLY. They even offer 35/15 in some areas for a basic triple.
- fragMasterFlash, on 07/19/2009, -2/+15I have comcast and have no complaints with the Internet service they offer (my connection has seen many upgrades since FiOS came to town). However, the television service they offer is a total fscking scam. They have been advertising for the past year that you wouldn't have to change anything during the digital broadcast transition, then they went and did their own digital transition, obsoleting all of many analog DVRs with zero notice. Fscking dicksh!ats.
- smilf, on 07/20/2009, -0/+13FiOS is great.. but it isn't offered in a lot of places.
- DarkShroud, on 07/19/2009, -0/+12@blastek, for those of us who live in non-FiOS areas the fastest service is Comcast. I don't like Comcast, but they're forceing everyone else to be competitve in my area. And they replaced many of the old T1 back bones in my area and the neighboring areas with Fiber. If they hadn't pulled that BS with Sandvine I would have stayed with them.
- elendryst, on 07/19/2009, -1/+13I have AT&T U-Verse. I'm not disappointed. I even notice the picture is better.
- KungFuEnglish, on 07/19/2009, -0/+12Can't get satellite in many apartment complexes nor any historical building. So yea, comcast is a monopoly.
- electrosux, on 07/19/2009, -2/+14Anyone can test their ***** internet speed with comcast's own speed test that the techs use. Just go to http://speedtest.comcast.net/ and you'll see how bad your internet connection is compared to what you are paying for. If you mention this site on the phone with your rep there's not much they can do to refute you. And NEVER tell them you use a router. I suspect if most cable internet subscribers actually tested their speed someone could bring a good class action suit against Comcast. I pay for 16 megs and rarely get more than 4 upload.
- supferrets, on 07/20/2009, -0/+12*****, I miss TechTV.
- t0x2c, on 07/19/2009, -3/+14Lol the mass bury because you disagree with public opinion.
