The laws of Quantum Physics suggests that 2 separate universes will then branch off from each other at 11:00 pm and follow their own separate independent destinys:
one universe in which the news reports that the cat died. And one in which it didn't.
Quantum Physics also says that 2 universes will branch off from each other in the next 2 seconds: one universe in which you dig this comment up and one in which you dig this comment down.
Next, in the universe in which you dug this comment down, a freak accident will occur in which one day you are walking along, minding your own business, when suddenly a crazed cat comes flying out of a tree and lands on top of you.
