- AceTracer, on 10/12/2007, -7/+87Stephen Colbert has one something even better than an Emmy...
...he's won our hearts. *tear* - AceTracer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+59I'm pretty sure Barry Manilow is on notice.
- mateo60, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33Chalk it up to another victory for Bears. Damn you bears!
"Barry" Manilow?? Bear. "Barry". Coincidence? I think not. - SimonKay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29It was great to see Stewart and Colbert share the spotlight. Finally they are getting the recognition they deserve!
- mks06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27here ya go:
http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/8414896.html#cutid1 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Don't forget the Peabody.
- Railer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24The next Colbert Report my guess is there is going to be a new "Dead to Me" coming.
- shortstack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20true, but his and stewarts humor are different. and i remember laughing at clinton jokes just as hard as i laughed at bush jokes.
- Computer_Kid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17If you are wondering who won:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/58th_Annual_Primetime_Emmy_Awards
I wanted south park to win! :-( - LucasVB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Colbert pretty much gave the best Emmy presenter intro ever: "Good evening godless sodomites."
- diggmaddy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12"OMG! Colbert didn't win any Emmy!"
Guys, Guys! Calm down. The way I see it is that Stewart's show is well established and has been running for a long time now. It probably has been through it's prime time and is slowly on a declining trend of popularity. This Emmy "might" be among the last in which he wins.
Colbert was nurtured extremely well in the Daily Show's environment and he made the most of that opportunity by polishing his skills. He is now the MASTER of fake news. Colbert Report is undoubtedly awesome and has a long future ahead. In many years to come, I am damn sure Colbert would win as many Emmys as Stewart (if not more).
Only time would prove it. So, relax and don't get too emo about Colbert not winning this year. He WILL win in the coming years. - dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"Wolverine I could've lost to.... he's got claws for hands..."
I love how his voice gives out just at the end of that! - pbjorge12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9shortstack is right in that they have very different humour styles...
I find myself laughing hysterically when Stewart points out a politician acting like an idiot and I think Stewart's show really points out the problems with our government...
I also find myself laughing hysterically when Colbert comes up with something brilliant like "crumbelievable" or when in an interview he acts like a die-hard republican overusing keywords like cut and run or support our troops...
But I applaud them both and it is a pitty Colbert lost...(I say we edit Wikipedia's article on the winners and list Colbert as the winner ("Truthiness") :p) - Justin6512, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8they won't,
they're in the toilet for ratings, didn't you hear conan, "nbc is in trouble" - Takteek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I love John's face when he starts talking about reality shows... :D
- L0phtpDK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Ok,
Here's the deal guys: The Emmy Awards are run by a panel of judges. These judges, unlike you and I, are usually not 'hip' and dare not to 'get jiggy with it'. They vote for shows that appeal to them.... Colbert's double talk confuses them.
Better yet, think about it like this; if you were going on a date with one of them... who would you bring home to show Mom? - toastgodsupreme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Don't for get that the On Notice Cards take a while to make in Bangalore, India. So he'll call him out first, then put him on notice. ;)
- DesireCampbell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Maybe he's just on the dry-erase board.
- Shorties, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I was so mad that Colbert didn't receive a single Emmy (Unless you count the writing credit in The Daily Show's writing win)
- DesireCampbell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@L0phtpDK
Colbert's more like Nightwing to Stewart's Batman. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I love the way Colbert holds Jon at the end.
- culbeda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5OK, now THIS is a suitable video clip because it's funny and I wasn't forced to watch hours of mind numbing Emmy coverage to see it! I can watch TDS and TCR for myself, but THIS, my friends, is a public service.
(And I'm sorry, but John Stewart is much funnier than Colbert. Colbert's show is OK, but his unscripted interviews are often painful to watch.) - AceTracer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Colbert did win an Emmy, he was a writer for The Daily Show. So that's another one he can add to his set mantle, along with his others and Peabody.
- KnightMareInc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3that was awesome
- diargasm, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9shortstack,
Colbert does every interview, every skit, and every "monologue" for his show. He doesn't send out pretentious "correspondants" to conduct humorous interviews with people. I don't think I've every seen anyone be so consistently funny as Colbert. It's just a shame he didn't get anything. - totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2great stuff. i liked how stewart gave a shoutout to colbert when he won his award.
- Justin6512, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2sweet video!
hey anyone know where I can get the emmy intro with conan, and the conan monolouge?
sweet thanks! - diargasm, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8Colbert didn't win an Emmy - how lame. On top of that he lost one to Barry Manilow which just adds to the insult. The guy has been the biggest new sensation on TV and he got no reward from these jackasses? Too bad for him, his work has trumped that of Stewart's "Daily Show". Everyday he comes up with fresh material for his show and doesn't rely on clips from the president or some other politician acting stupid to make his show funny.
- lukee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well, knowing Colbert, he'll take one of those Daily Show Emmys as his own (ala O'Reilly and the Polk).
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i never pictured colbert being taller than stewart.
- chabuhi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Does anybody know if Newhart survived? I had to go out and didn't record the show.
I hope he's ok. - Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That must have been a joke. You must looooove bears too, huh. Bearlover... at least you'll go to hell for it.
- npinski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is like when Metallica lost to Jethro Tull when the first Grammy for Metal was handed out.
- solarisom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You've heard it before, and you should hear it again.
VV Stewart/Colbert 08 VV - perseon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The most upsetting part of the Emmys was not just that Colbert didn't win but that Barry Manilow won! That dude has got to be the blandest musician I've ever seen!
On a side note it was interesting to see Colbert and Stewart stand side by side. I thought both of them would be the same height. (I've got to go to a taping of the Daily Show and the Report one of these days.) - L0phtpDK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2So you're telling me that Colbert is Stewart's Robbin to his Batman... ?
His Ace to his Gary...?
His Dark Prince, if you will, to his Emipre?
If I understand you correctly. - EPeters, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1digg is all about People's Choice and "the best of the best". We can't help it that Stephen and Jon kick so much ass.
- masskurec, on 03/03/2009, -0/+0joh who? stephen what?
http://xptweak.net - crossers, on 07/23/2008, -0/+0sweet video. I like the way Colbert holds Jon at the end.

- alexj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1they already removed some other videos that were "taken without their permission", what makes this so special?
link:http://digg.com/videos_music/Beastie_Boys_Perform_ROOT_DOWN_On_Conan_O_Brien - alexj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1they already removed something that was "taken without their permission" why wouldnt they remove this??
link:http://digg.com/videos_music/Beastie_Boys_Perform_ROOT_DOWN_On_Conan_O_Brien - helix400, on 10/12/2007, -16/+14And thus this fulfills today's Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert Digg story quota.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Indeed.
- diggmaddy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1nope! Colbert would succeed Stewart as a Legendary flag bearer of Fake News and do as good a job as Stewart (or even better).
- PayneX, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2You obviously haven't watched Barry Manilow Music and Passion.
stfu and go listen to your RnB. - L3on, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Definitely a Wag of the Finger at Barry Manilow.
- alexj, on 10/12/2007, -29/+4i wonder how long it will take for NBC to take this offa youtube

What is Digg?
