- slicksoul999, on 07/02/2009, -4/+213Hmm plastic grenades, probably not too lethal.
- imdandman, on 07/03/2009, -0/+120This is more appropriate.

- davidwasman, on 07/03/2009, -1/+35the lack of a crowbar is disconcerting.
- Ghostalker, on 07/03/2009, -0/+32I like the half-life one that simply says "In case of resonance cascade"

- vivisimonvi, on 07/03/2009, -0/+29and a health pack station.
- FreckleEars, on 07/03/2009, -0/+27All of this is total *****!
(May or may not have all of this in his house)
1. Strong hiking pack
2. Crowbar (weapon and utility tool)
3. High tension nylon rope (at least 20 meters)
4. Rugged change of clothes (denim jeans, strong shirt etc)
5. Swiss army knife (with scissors and a separate knife sharpener)
6. Basic tools (multihead screwdriver, allan key set, vice grips, needle nose plyers, electric duct tape)
7. Windable LED flashlight
8. Windable radio (with charge outlet)
9. Good waterproof hikers
10. Small compact high heat blanket
11. Back-up supply of dry/canned food (no more than 5kg, may include drybread, PB, beans etc)
12. Excellent outdoorsman gloves
13. Sunglasses (not to look cool... though you will)
14. non-failing waterproof matches, lighter, sparker.
15. Small 2m long hose
16. Local paper maps
17. At least 2 flares
18. Small decent first aid kit and some basic medicine
19. Decent range waterproof walkie talkie
20. Some waterproof bags for electric devices
(should all weight in around 15kg)
The extra ***** you can have but do not need
1. Small handgun and 4 or 5 clips
2. Machete
3. Small Shovel
4. More flares and tools
(adds unnecessary weight)
Make sure to limit team size and minimize noise. Also, never have everyone asleep and sleep on high grounds with a protected entryway. One should always be physically fit at least to be able to have a decent jog for 10 minutes. One can also benifit from some sort of safety/first aid/outdoor training.
Oh an machetes need constant sharpening and are only good for cutting large objects, and baseball bats are heavy and can only bludgeon... so are pretty much useless to actually kill a zombie.
*NOTE* Modify materials to be lighter and have a mandatory gun IF zombies are of the rage virus type as opposed to the standard viral infection post dead animation style. - Smyley, on 07/03/2009, -0/+27Grenades aren't much use against zombies. It's the shrapnel that grenades use to kill. Shrapnel in the zombie's leg wont do much to stop it.
- jmeeker516, on 07/03/2009, -3/+29no pills?
- rivethaus, on 07/03/2009, -4/+30This is the one the I put together. I had to sacrifice my Blue Monday 12" for the greater good
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mtschroeder/368360534 ... - KungFuMoses, on 07/03/2009, -2/+25Hopefully he also has another case with ammo in it nearby, because the supplied weapons won't last too long once the tank shows up.
- ChromaVita, on 07/03/2009, -1/+21Now that's what I call plastic explosives!
- uberduger, on 07/03/2009, -0/+20Jusging by your numbers of +/-, most Diggers can survive the Zombocalypse with only 2x mags, a few shotgun shells and 2 grenades! Digg, I want *you* with me when the crap hits the fan.
- hackop, on 07/03/2009, -0/+18Now that guy is ready for zombies!
- Frostek, on 07/03/2009, -1/+15I like yours better than the one in the article.
- keithwired, on 07/03/2009, -0/+14No they are designed to withstand constant load, anyways metal fatigue occurs from work (loading and unloading) so a static load won't cause fatigue. Also it helps to break in new springs to prevent jams. Think about it, if springs weakened from static loads every car and truck on the streets today would be bottomed out.
- alpharaptor, on 07/03/2009, -0/+13most of my zombie plans involve feeding other diggers to the zombies as a diversion.
- immatellyouwhat, on 07/03/2009, -0/+11Where's Travel Scrabble? Everyone knows it gets a bit boring hiding from Zombies before you blow their heads off.
- Wag3Slav3, on 07/03/2009, -0/+10Buried for not having a crowbar.
- ninjasnowman, on 07/03/2009, -1/+11According to the zombie survival guide you should get a M1 carbine and a machete if i remember correctly.
This is, of course, that you can't get you hands on the military stuff, the lobo and a S.I.R. - Andrewbot, on 07/03/2009, -0/+9Issues with Chainsaws:
-Finite fuel supply.
-Loud engine basically acts as a dinner bell to the undead.
-Heavy to carry around on long journey.
C'mon people, The Complete Zombie Survival Guide was printed for a reason! - unusualbob, on 07/03/2009, -0/+9Someone is far underestimating the amount of ammunition needed...
- Rivetgeek, on 07/03/2009, -0/+8@masterc
MIT has been using the term "hack" as a prank since you were in diapers. - coolguyslim, on 07/03/2009, -1/+9Where's the typewriter and the ink ribbon?
- jack104, on 07/03/2009, -2/+10Weapons here!
- iEATcatFOOD, on 07/03/2009, -0/+7dude, wrong game type.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -6/+13Lets throw those plastic grenades at them!
- ingotanarchist, on 07/03/2009, -0/+7Looks like some one read the Zombie Survival Guide.
- chronobyte, on 07/03/2009, -0/+7Hold on let me patch you up
- Andrewbot, on 07/03/2009, -2/+9Swords are often too heavy to be used as a short-range melee weapon in the context of an average person. The ideal weapon in that scenario would be a Shaolin Spade.

With its long reach the user can keep the undead away, and using either cresent-bladed end to decapitate the oncoming zombie.
Remember, one of the ten most important rules of surviving a zombie outbreak: Use your head, take off theirs! - TheNyquilKid, on 07/03/2009, -0/+7No, no we do not.
- dsoldier, on 07/03/2009, -0/+7How come when Bajwa123 said "Needs pills." he got buried, but when jmeeker516 says "no pills?" he's dugg?
Oh Digg, you mysterious son of a bitch. - Wag3Slav3, on 07/03/2009, -0/+6The book I am legend is about vampires, not zombies.
- coolguyslim, on 07/03/2009, -1/+7I don't know which is more sad: the comment or the fact that I actually laughed?
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -0/+6Two grenades and a couple of handguns? This is the guy's zombie attack survival gear? This guy is doomed.
If I feared a zombie attack I would be collecting an arsenal like that one nutcase had in the movie Tremors. - shadeOfGrey, on 07/03/2009, -0/+5There's always a coffee can full of ammo around somewhere.
- djblac, on 07/03/2009, -0/+5arg i feel awful....
- PowderedToasty, on 07/03/2009, -1/+6You mean you don't fear a zombie attack??? You must be one baaad mother *****.
- Trick07, on 07/03/2009, -1/+6I've been prepared for over a year now!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/24427970@N04/36840166 ... - spazticmidget, on 07/03/2009, -1/+6? <there you go
- spazticmidget, on 07/03/2009, -0/+5why so we can have trolling zombies?
- Ryanman7, on 07/03/2009, -0/+5If a grenade explodes close enough to a zombie, the idea is that its body will be literally blown apart. Since most are unarmored (or, if you think about it, would end up naked) it's a pretty reasonable scenario. Not to mention most depictions of zombies have them with somewhat tender skin etc.
At worst you're talking a pulverization of some bone and muscle tissue that will reduce mobility, ultimately making it easier for a headshot. -
