- inactive, on 09/17/2008, -34/+386I always wonder if there was any possible candidate choice that the Republicans wouldn't have instantly fallen in love with. I mean honestly, I've never seen any indication that anything matters to them other than the big R. I mean, Republicans hated McCain until he got the nomination, and then suddenly he was the best damn thing to happen to this country. I just think it's odd, because I remember in 2004, no one was particularly enamored with John Kerry, but at that point everyone was just like "Who cares? A plank of wood would make a better president than Bush!"
- OhSnapVince, on 09/18/2008, -36/+288Because CNN, Huffington Post, and every third link on the Digg front page isn't doing this exact same thing already...
- WillSunrider, on 09/17/2008, -19/+263..she can still see russia from her house.
- alphaterminus, on 09/18/2008, -22/+157Biden is a Democrat. As much as Digg hates the RIAA and values privacy, we should deplore his attempt to thwart encryption, fair use, and file sharing. He's one of the biggest in-the-pocket douchebags in the country.
- kingofinternet, on 09/17/2008, -4/+106she must be a communist!
- sczzbckt, on 09/18/2008, -5/+99Lets hope it stays that way
- bjornski, on 09/18/2008, -10/+97Awww, was reading a comic strip too hard for you?
Too many words? Not much of a reader?
Poor baby.
Life must be hard when you look at everyone with over a 70 I.Q. as a "smug, elitist know-it-all" - inactive, on 09/18/2008, -7/+90they would run him into the ground... oh wait they did that in 2000
- Mononuclear, on 09/18/2008, -13/+85Let me preface this by saying I am a liberal and hate Palin..
This is the same thing the left wing media has been saying about her. I fail to see the joke. Or is that the joke? That if she were a democrat the right wing would attack her same stances that they now defend? You don't think left wing media would attack Obama if he were a republican even if he had the exact same stance? Political parties and the media are hypocrites. I fail to see the joke here... - hallandnash, on 09/18/2008, -11/+80Agree .. but the problem was the plank of wood (kerry) lost the election. You cannot under estimate the voting block of Republicans.. they will vote for whoever they tell them to. There really is no other way to explain the 2nd term or McCain being close to a 3rd term.
- vat0r, on 09/18/2008, -4/+49Seems he's been trying awful hard to convince everyone he is a democrat these last few weeks.
- AWBoy666, on 09/18/2008, -12/+52CNN barely bothered to report that someone hacked her personal email account. If that had been Obama's, can you imagine the coverage?
- dwightismyhero, on 09/18/2008, -6/+45i'm so sick of going through digg stories...palin is all you hear
- scarysnow, on 09/18/2008, -7/+46And yet, all those things are precisely what Democrats are criticizing her for.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 09/18/2008, -3/+41So John McCain in 2000?
- trogdor282, on 09/18/2008, -3/+40It's nice to not have to think for yourself.
- nihil, on 09/18/2008, -23/+60I want a comic detailing how Democrats, Huffpo et all would be canonizing Sarah Palin if she were a Democrat.
- AWBoy666, on 09/18/2008, -31/+68It's much funnier if the cartoon showed how CNN/ABC/NBC/MSNBC/CBS/HuffPo/RawStory/ThinkProgress/DailyKos and every other liberal media outlet would be praising her instead of destroying her character in any way possible.
And the fact that someone hacked her email account would be the biggest story of the night. And you would all be outraged.
Buried as liberal ***** spam. - Yookji, on 09/18/2008, -4/+40Partisanship sucks. Madison would be ashamed.
- TheFinaleofSeem, on 09/18/2008, -3/+37Digg sure as hell is, and Digg is mostly liberal/libertarian. That's what makes this comic funny and sad at the same time. It's not that the Republicans wouldn't do this (they probably would), but that Digg is doing the same ***** thing from the other side.
- Aero347, on 09/18/2008, -4/+38I love how you just pin a communist label on something that you don't have a good reply to. I bet it's socialist to. Yeah. That'll show them!
- Divals, on 09/18/2008, -9/+43The DNC doesn't need to pay me to believe what I believe. I follow my conscience. I wish they would pay me though, it sucks being broke all the time...
- iDMG, on 09/18/2008, -6/+39Loosen that tin-foil hat, buddy
- hallandnash, on 09/18/2008, -12/+44disagree .. the Democratics only get in trouble in the mud slinging game - The Republicans are the Michael Jordan of that game. They need to actually focus on the actual issues. The economy is in shambles, the war is bleeding lives and money, medical research is non existent in the USA, and it's only going to get worse with Republicans ruling - there is simply no evidence to prove that otherwise.
I can't wait for the debates .. it's hard to dodge issues there. - fracaso089, on 09/18/2008, -9/+40if palin was a dem, and the right attacked her, would the left support her?
- gh0st3000, on 09/18/2008, -9/+39Unfortunately I found it hard to laugh, since this comic seemed to be little more than a summary of the anti-Palin article titles that's been on Digg/Reddit for the past couple weeks. It's old news to me.
- Sfenton, on 09/18/2008, -5/+34You need to add a (NSFOF)
Not Safe for Obama Fans - Birdman3, on 09/18/2008, -10/+38...But those are all legitimate, un-slanted criticisms, criticisms that we should be making more vociferously.
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -6/+34Tynan:
Humans are pack animals. That means that we *really are* dumb sheep; it's just how our social psychology is structured. When we pick a leader - when we begin to associate ourselves with an "us" group which excludes all of "them" - we start reacting to them on a purely emotional level. There is no "understanding their views," because the approach is not intellectual, but largely emotional and visceral.
I am, of course, talking about people on average - there are any number of people who can get beyond their gut reaction and think things through, but also keep in mind that even among those, many are just coming up with logical-sounding rationalizations for beliefs which they already hold. That's why trying to persuade your opponent is so futile - it's not a logic thing at all. - HayString, on 09/18/2008, -3/+29We don't want to hear that!
- OneLess, on 09/18/2008, -10/+36Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the point that _Republicans_ would be saying these things if Palin were a Democrat, and not that CNN and HuffPo would?
- mastaxxn, on 09/18/2008, -5/+31O'Reilly has been pretty fair to Obama. Says he's an honest guy and said he enjoyed the interview with him. What are you talking about?
- buddypriefert, on 09/18/2008, -39/+61Burried for off-topic. Yeah, it's "comedy" but belongs in the many polical categories. Some of us are tired of the political garbage.
- inactive, on 09/18/2008, -1/+22If she is elected, I hope she does not see Russia from her new house or we are in for a world of hurt.
- Nairebis, on 09/18/2008, -9/+30And the Democrats would be praising her embodying feminism by being a self-made woman.
Heck, they praise Hillary, and Hillary rode the back of Bill to get where she is. - prisoner24601, on 09/18/2008, -3/+24They've got to add a digg feature called "tagg" and let users tagg "soapbox" articles. Then when we go through these waves of iPhone or Ron Paul or Obama or Palin being 8 out of 10 of the top articles, they could be filtered out.
Sort of like "buried as inaccurate" but just where if x% of people click that it is a soapbox article, it'll get filtered for people who choose to ignore that particular tagg. - bunkka, on 09/18/2008, -3/+22I thought there was a setting to disable all political and Linux based Digg articles?
(yes this is comedy, but I don't need to jump on the web and have my political beliefs strengthened or weakened by Digg)
I remember how awesome it was when I first joined Digg, every article was technology based. Now, every discussion ends up being political banter on Bush, Gore, Obama, McCain...etc.
I like many of the new sections and topics, but we had enough flaming when it came to Microsoft, Apple, Linux (and everything that falls in between) It gets tiring!
Yes this doesn't contribute to anything regarding this topic/thread, but I needed to say it. - LRE13, on 09/18/2008, -4/+22I heard a radio host say that many people who listen to her say that they voted for Bush last time on the sole reason that they didn't want to switch presidents halfway through a war. They hated him on all other accounts, but it was still strange.
- redfan, on 09/18/2008, -10/+27"I always wonder if there was any possible candidate choice that the Republicans wouldn't have instantly fallen in love with."
That would require a candidate who didn't oppose women's rights, gay rights, gun control, solutions to global warming, sex ed, education funding, infrastructure funding, and diplomacy with foreign countries. - jojopumpkin, on 09/18/2008, -4/+20macweirdo42 writes: "I mean, Republicans hated McCain until he got the nomination, and then suddenly he was the best damn thing to happen to this country."
They still don't like him but he was the only Republican candidate that would agree to leave things as they are if elected and continue the *****-storm of selling off this country. For that he got lots-o-money and the nomination. - SpeedSteamBoat, on 09/18/2008, -1/+17Yeah, I listed all the reasons for choosing her. It's still a work in progress but here's what I've come up with so far:
1. She is a woman - Murdats, on 09/18/2008, -5/+20did they support hillary? hillary pulled these same kind of sleazy tactics and look what happened there.
- Thorlord, on 09/18/2008, -3/+183%?
do you have the actual statistic?
because i'm sure its not just Americans that hate republicans but most of the civilized world. - Tynan, on 09/18/2008, -25/+40Categorizing millions of people as dumb sheep may be easy and feel good, but that doesn't make it true.
Go and interact with these people for a while, you might start to understand their views, even if you don't agree with them. - cyrix, on 09/18/2008, -2/+17I've thought for a while now that the Reps chose Palin because she would be able to abuse and use demagogy to sway people to McCain's side and help win the election, now I'm not so sure given her decrease in popularity and her mistakes and controversies thus far. Now I'm having a hard time figuring out why they chose her at all.
- malex, on 09/18/2008, -9/+24You mean if she was Hillary Clinton?
Oh wait, the Democrats didn't canonize her at all. Why would they be less critical of Palin, when she lacks the qualities that made Clinton even marginally a good idea? - brsteve88, on 09/18/2008, -0/+14They'd do the same ***** they did to John Kerry. They'd say that he didn't really face any hardship as a POW, and they'd say he's a flip-flopper.
- inactive, on 09/18/2008, -9/+23Blah blah blah - would you guys quit this bipartisan *****? The republicrats have you right where they want you. The democrats are crooks and liars, and your presidential hopeful literally voted exactly as his superior (harry reid) told him to in senate time and time again. The dems are just as retarded/corporate/federal as the reps.
W A K E - U P !
or you can go back to OMG REPBULICANS R TEH SUK *****. Joe Biden? Really? L O L. Yeah guys, the dems are SOOO MUCH BETTER.
Biden all but WROTE the patriot act, and both biden and obama voted to reinstate the patriot act in 2006. GOOD JOB GUYS.
WAKE THE ***** UP and vote third party. - redfan, on 09/18/2008, -4/+18"They need to actually focus on the actual issues. The economy is in shambles, the war is bleeding lives and money, medical research is non existent in the USA"
Republicans know they can't compete on the issues, so they push the media and their campaigns in the direction of personalities and likability. Convince the people to elect someone who's "like them" and it'll all work out. Pay no attention to the issues, people. - Arkons24, on 09/18/2008, -2/+16Totally agree with you except ...
"This is the same thing the media has been saying about her."
Fixed.
I have been pretty astonished at the amount of negative media attention she is receiving from all media - especially the main stream. Usually they are a little more subtle with their bias. Maybe it was her calling them out?
But yea, that was a pretty dumb cartoon. -
