We all have someone like this in our life and we excuse them because they "come from a different time" or we think we can "woo them with kindness" but they really just need to be ostracized and made to know that the world can't wait for them to wake up anymore. As long as you stand there and don't correct their misinformation about Obama and let them say such backwards things that make all of us (Americans- Palin "Real Americans" AND the rest of us!) look bad- you give them quarter. You allow them to think you might be like them. You might even let them think they have the guts to say what you are afraid to- and what you ARE afraid to say is what MUST be said.
I have a neighbor who called Obama the N-word last week for the 1000th time- knowing I am a supporter and have been for the duration of the campaign- and it was the last time I could stand for it and I took him on about it. We aren't speaking anymore- and if that's how it is then I don't give a *****. Come the holidays I will make this choice again with racist cousins and uncles and I will do so b/c there is no other answer. There is no excuse and tolerance isn't working. Judging by slashed tires in NC for early voter/Obama supporters I am thinking they (those who offer intolerance and ignorance ahead of considering the issues) have mistaken the kindness of tolerance for weakness. Worse yet, they seem to think they are still the majority.
You shouldn't have to want Obama to win to be embarrassed by this woman.

I know we live in "the land of the free", but people that stupid almost shouldn't be allowed to vote, or at least not until they've gone through a some kind of REAL issue consideration... Otherwise, her opinion on this matter serves no purpose or good... religion does not have the answer to fixing our government, economic, and world problems.
What is religion good for? History has shown that religion is responsible for suffering, genocide, removal of freedoms, censorship, and ignorance, just to name a few.
Believe what you want, and feel free to have whatever religion you like... But this is America, and here we have a thing called "Separation of Church and State", look it up lady cause you seem to have forgotten it.
