      I have glasses and contacts. My glasses are more comfortable, and I can see better with them. Yet unless I'm just going to make a quick trip somewhere, I always put my contacts in. Glasses have a very significant negative impact on how I look and feel.

That got fixed in about a month then a year later my retina was torn and I got laser surgery to fix it, which is extremely painful (think brain cramp). I think il stay away from contacts for a while, wouldnt you?

            B) "Argument"? Why did you put it in quotes? It's got premises, anecdotal evidence, claims of biological fact, conclusions, etc.

            * Even a healthy eyeball cannot make out much detail, since it is a rod-heavy area of the cornea.
            * Instead peripheral vision is primarily sensitive to movement rather than details.
            * Blurring from myopia/hyperopia affects details but doesn't majorly hurt detection of movement.
            * Most of what you pereive as your 'peripheral vision' is really a sort of inferred memory from when you actually looked at it with your fovea.
            * When you decide to move your eyeball to look at the peripheral area, you generally move your head too (even if you don't have glasses) bringing the area towards the center, so you're getting that fovea snapshot through the glasses.

            Conclusion: Even if your glasses wrapped around or you had contacts you wouldn't get a big improvement in your ability to detect things with your peripheral vision... Presuming, of course, you're not the kind of person who wears those hideously tiny glasses in an attempt to look fashionable and/or bohemian.
