- verifex, on 10/12/2007, -3/+105Kinda dumb, google isn't all about adding the fluff links as the video's creator seems to think.
- dmurray14, on 10/12/2007, -4/+101For real. Google is one of the cleanest sites out there.
- radu79, on 10/12/2007, -1/+91It's not like the YouTube home page is that clean to begin with.
- imnotquitesure, on 10/12/2007, -3/+66More like if Microsoft had bought YouTube.
- jdb252, on 10/12/2007, -1/+58Yeah, putting the "FAMOUS" sticker on is reminiscent of Microsoft's cluttered advertisements and packaging.
- mikeman10001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+52This link should have been... "Imagine if Yahoo! bought YouTube"
- jexdawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+49Are they insinuating that Google clutters their pages?
Perhaps they have never been to, you know, google.com. Silly. - OrStateDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+48Thats exactly what it reminds me of... The Microsoft version of the ipod box.
- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41Hopefully google can do something about youtube's retarded search feature.
I always get better results by googling "[searchterm] site:youtube.com" than I do using youtube's built in search. - Cbeck527, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32funny, I do the same with digg
- GMorgan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+33Google will only improve Youtube. At the end of the day Youtube is a small start up whose owners just struck a huge jackpot, they had potential to be worth something but this company has never struck a profit, they will need to in order for survival. Google have been doing web content for years and know how to make things work. I imagine we will see less things pulled as they arrange more shared revenue deals, they will clean it up and improve the search functionality and we will probably see Google adsense at some point though thats hardly intrusive.
- sishgupta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24That video is attracted to videos of the same gender? Holy *****.
- radu79, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25That's not techno.
- Angostura, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24To me this looks as if someone watched the very funny Microsoft iPod parody
http://youtube.com/watch?v=aeXAcwriid0
and then thought ... 'hey we'll do something similar with YouTube and Google'. The problem is that the joke doesn't work here. The original parody (authored by a Microsoft insider to make a point) was a sly dig at Microsoft's packaging clutter. Google, in comparison is an exemplar of clean, minimalist design.
A bit lame, I say. - stuartjmoore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16it started as O' Fortuna, the ultimate evil music.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13"when Google be in charge"
Come on, do you people even speak the English language?
And, I don't know what sites you're going to, but Google is just about the only company that doesn't stamp their mark on every single thing they touch - samdu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Agreed on both. Especially Digg. It takes forEVER for search results to come back on Digg. You'd think they'd just use the Google engine.
- Kickboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10How many times does Google have to say they aren't going to change the site branding?
The word 'Google' will not appear as part of youtube's name, logo, branding, or any subsequent features. The only thing that could possibly use the word 'Google' is their search feature. - tomhutchinson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Wait, can you type that one more time for me please? I didn't quite hear you the first time. Thanks!
- rtakach, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6i think the submitter was trying to be funny...i thought it was funny. maybe he/she is poking fun at all the grammer nazis by dropping some ebonics in the description
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6You're right, but it's a comedy. In reality, YouTube will probably be mostly unchanged from how it is now. No sense fixing that which is not broken.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Ease up Ripley . The trans-axle's blown. You're just grinding metal."
- stuartjmoore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5like SketchUp from Google?
- stepnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's called "Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi" (Fortuna, Empress of the World), from Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana". It was written way way back in the 30's...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmina_Burana_%28Orff%29 - Ben174, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4No, it's Happy!
- PercyKittenz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well, yeah, they did. Back when most people were on slow connections, it was a pain to pull up Yahoo or Excite and wait for all their portal areas and images to load before you could search. Even on dial-up, Google took a couple seconds to load their homepage and search results, which was the main reason for a lot of people, like myself, to switch over to their service.
- M4cb0y, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Most people still don't know Google does anything but search, and if they do, they don't know where."
There's a heck of a lot of people that know about Google Earth - maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Thats more what would happen if microsoft took over google
- mrdoolittle119, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i loved the googlefox ad one minute into the movie
- Gzero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like Google Video better than Youtube in some respects because the video size actually depends on the screen size rather than being jammed into a 200x300 window (or whatever it is). I wouldn't mind that part crossing over. Google's comment spam is horrible though.
- rushiku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Aha, the 'complaining about the submitter's lack of wordsmithing ability' comment. Down to -2 as of now, maybe I can do better.
"when Google be in charge"?
when Google be? be...hmmm...oh! you mean 'is': when Google is in charge.
Heh, looks like that class in ebonics is paying off. - dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thats funny stuff...
But this is exactly what I would NOT expect from Google. Anyone else would love to crap their branding everywhere...
I think it is more likely that Google is just going to work on some type of subtle advertising model that will help YouTube to start generating some income. - rtakach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2people looking for WMD's apparently...thats about the only time i've used the i feel lucky button, then that spoofed 404 page comes up.
edit: i don't think that works anymore, it brings up a wiki page now - bs0l, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5epic 2015.
- igraham09, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it's a really dramatic song...
:D - AugustZephyr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dugg because it was funny. But this if actually believe the ridiculousness of this video you dont deserve to digg.
- inactive, on 05/19/2008, -0/+1Hey I have reviewed youtube and I found out 5 things that make you stay longer on Youtube
- digitalchaos666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they should rename it GooTube
- shyampandit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The login part is like what they did to orkut :)
- gd007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if google already does, why reinvent the wheel?
- jacobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why Everybody uses the Carmina Burana Song in their VIDEOS????????????WHY!!!!
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7WHY ARE YOU YELLING AT ME?
- triont, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Google.....expect it to never get out of beta.
- chrisrowe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was begining to like the new interface, much cleaner and google like, then they started taking the piss
- daborg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Sometimes I wish there was a "Bury > Who Gives a *****?" option...
- jeickholt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmmmm... I just figured it would be loaded with "buy it now" links
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if talking about clean.. honestly.. i like how Google video looks...Way cleaner than youtube's layout...
- LGgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"... Google have been doing web content for years and know how to make things work".
Google doesn't create anything but advertising, that's NOT content.
If they know how to make things work why did they have to spend 1.6B for youTube when they already had Google video ? ALL of google hits are purchased (keyhole, picasa,Kaltix,Applied Semantics,Android,..) and then renamed "Google" something.
What Google has is a lot of money and the smartest people on earth(according to them) who can't seem to invent anything that people flock too.
The one thing Google has over everyone else is the best PR machine around. - ucbrave92, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1google has about the BEST record of not cluttering its sites and using its real estate properly. this video is complete BS, which someone with apparently no knowledge of google, how that could happen is beyond me, pieced together while beating off in his jar. go f*** yourself google hater.
- Smily, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's actually a very good way for IRC bots to provide the Google service directly to a channel (since the responding redirect is very small in size and therefore you get the result quicker and with less parsing) and a good and easy way to start with sockets in mIRC, if you are into mIRC scripting.
