You know, the comparison that Bush supporters always make (Truman is the one I always hear, who is known as a great president now, but was hated at the time.) would work, if Bush had ever done anything on equivalent moral standing to the integration of the armed forces. - otto989, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2well i just hope that truman comparison doesn't get to bush's head and end up making him drop a nuke on someone

Government administered healthcare isn't "over-reaching" in any other civilized nation on Earth. It is the norm. Why isn't our government capable of doing what European governments can do? Because we elect the extreme right wing and their ideology mandates that the government fail. It shouldn't be surprising when they make sure that happens. - ligyron, on 07/13/2008, -20/+1Seven!

Very important to point out, as many people believe that if A government (stop saying "THE government", it changes and no one group is responsible for every decision attributed to "the government) makes a poor decision, that shows government as a construct is crappy and ineffective. If you look anywhere besides the U.S., where corporate control isn't so rampant and government actually listens to informed citizens, you will find effective government programs. - Scienceticist, on 07/13/2008, -2/+57Lisa needs braces.

- bioviral, on 07/13/2008, -0/+3That's not what Wikipedia says:
When engaged in feline-to-feline combat for self-defense, territory, reproduction, or dominance, fighting cats make themselves appear more impressive and threatening by raising their fur and arching their backs, thus increasing their apparent size. Cats also behave this way while playing. Attacks usually comprise powerful slaps to the face and body with the forepaws as well as bites, but serious damage is rare; usually the loser runs away with little more than a few scratches to the face, and perhaps the ears. Cats will also throw themselves to the ground in a defensive posture to rake with their powerful hind legs. Normally, serious negative effects will be limited to possible infections of the scratches and bites; though these have been known to sometimes kill cats if untreated. In addition, such fighting is believed to be the primary route of transmission of feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). Sexually active males will usually be in many fights during their lives, and often have decidedly battered faces with obvious scars and cuts to the ears and nose. Not only males will fight; females will also fight over territory or to defend their kittens, and even neutered cats will defend their (smaller) territories aggressively.

I wonder how other countries would react if the New York Times or USA Today ran an ad with the picture of their President, Prime Minister, or whoever that mocked them? I get the feeling they would be a lot more vocal about it.
To me this falls under the "don't make fun of my brother - only family gets to do that" category. This is the country that runs Absolut ads showing Mexico annexing parts of the US, and that hands out brochures telling people how to defeat US border security. ***** them.- theaverageidiot, on 07/13/2008, -9/+8I noticed this too and I totally agree with you on every aspect. Good job on typing it all out. :)
- sdizier, on 07/13/2008, -8/+11Coming from a nation that gives the middle finger to other countries all the time.
- Niubai, on 07/13/2008, -13/+28Dude, you guys are screwing up mexicans all the time, calling them beaners, wetbacks and *****, and now, get all offended by a simple and funny magazine ad ? Despite he's being a president, he's still a big time dumbass. That's how the whole world see him, and not only Mexicans.
- franklymister, on 07/13/2008, -5/+4Are you kidding me? Brazil had slavery for fifteen years longer than the US. Racist terms get used in Brazil like they were going out of style, and there are huge problems with discrimination against black people there, just as bad as it is in Mexico.
I might not like what Bush does, but he's still my president. Your own Lula didn't even learn to read until he was 10, and he literally has a fourth-grade education. There are over 15 million malnourished Brazilians, and the president's party has been scandalized by bribery, fraud, vote buying, theft of public funds, and worse.
Glass houses, my friend. Glass houses. - Niubai, on 07/13/2008, -2/+4Who's talking about Brazil here ? What are you saying ? As a Brazilian, I know Brazil has a ***** of problems, but it's totaly out of context here dude, this is a Mexico / USA article.
- franklymister, on 07/13/2008, -2/+2Niubai, you said that the US was racist towards Mexicans and that we have a "dumbass" for a President. I'm just pointing out that you have it about ten times worse, so I don't see how you think you are in much of a position to criticize us.
- moonguidex, on 07/14/2008, -3/+2So the only way you feel better is by comparing?
As long as other countries are worse, then the problem ain't so bad, right?
It's people like franklymister (probably a Bush fan), that represent american intelligence so poorly... - Genetico, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2LOUD NOISES!
- franklymister, on 07/13/2008, -5/+4Are you kidding me? Brazil had slavery for fifteen years longer than the US. Racist terms get used in Brazil like they were going out of style, and there are huge problems with discrimination against black people there, just as bad as it is in Mexico.
- juanjodic, on 07/13/2008, -10/+32I think your post is funny, but then I realized that it's a post in a webpage in the United States.
This is the same country that's so ***** up that actually tortures people , and they think they have room to talk?- franklymister, on 07/13/2008, -7/+11And what amazing nation are you from, then?
- thelock65, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3whoa whoa everyone just calm down...
- Relaxin22, on 07/14/2008, -1/+1Guaranteed it's a nation that also tortures people.
- fuzzybeard, on 07/14/2008, -1/+1It's not torture; it's "enhanced interrogation." Why don't you sit down over there, Citizen and have some Soma; it's just like how Mother made it for Big Brother.
- lukas88, on 07/13/2008, -1/+5US policy affects the whole world, and perhaps no other country more than mexico (I guess Iraq and Afghanistan are better examples right now). I don't see this as implying that we have worse politicians than them and I don't blame them for poking fun either.
Remember that the quality of the Mexican government says as much about the average Mexican citizen as the quality of our government says about us. Power tends to be abused, that is a human trait no matter what country you live in. - mqduck, on 07/14/2008, -4/+1An intelligent point, but remember that the US has set itself up as governor of the world. Bush is the aspiring ruler of everyone, thus fair game for everyone.
Note: I gave you a +1 anyway. - danman890, on 07/14/2008, -1/+5No, ***** you.
- projectstartrek, on 07/21/2008, -1/+1Yes, because every single Mexican is dying to run away from their country, since the USA is the only place on earth people can live a good life >_>
- Aliwalla, on 07/13/2008, -11/+17this suggests that George Bush's goofs are lovable.
- xedd, on 07/13/2008, -4/+9And they are not.
- ericjohnson0, on 07/13/2008, -17/+7Barack is more like a combination of the guys in this group...
http://thesaloon.net/blog/_archives/2008/7/10/3786 ...- mazarino, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2I don't think DIGG is the website for you...
- ThePhotoBoy, on 07/13/2008, -8/+1Buried, Bush is not yellow. Doh!
- nblsavage, on 07/13/2008, -1/+5I don't know about that. Yellow=coward.
- Khast, on 07/13/2008, -8/+3I personally would have said Homer Simpson + Alfred E. Newman + John Wayne ..... Bush has the mind of Homer, the looks of Alfred, and the rough n' tough attitude of John Wayne.
- cheeseysynapse, on 07/13/2008, -10/+6Jimmy Carter + Summer's Eve + Halo = Our Lord Barry O.
- cager66, on 07/13/2008, -2/+0Halo promised hope and change to the FPS.
Barry promises hope and change to america.
So yeah, your comparision is correct.
P.s. halo sucks.

- MetalGear7, on 07/13/2008, -5/+4I always thought he looked like an ***** to me
- cgbspender, on 07/13/2008, -4/+5Mexican newspaper making fun of the US's president? Enjoy it while you can, the north american union will rectify this soon.
- boombye, on 07/13/2008, -4/+2Just because it's in Spanish, doesn't make it Mexican. I don't see anything that specifies where it comes from. Could be from Spain for all you know.
Gringos think we're all the same anyways, like that one time in X-Files when Mulder finds a Mexican in that radio control room in Puerto Rico which looked more like British Columbia
lols sorry I was just watching some recently and just noticed that- PueSi, on 07/13/2008, -1/+4It is Mexican, Milenio is a famous newspaper here.

Isn't that what we need in a modern day savior? - Conguent, on 07/13/2008, -6/+2How bout Homer + John Wayne x *****.
- 360Slick, on 07/13/2008, -5/+5buried, john wayne would lay down the law to bush.
- rootsm3, on 07/13/2008, -9/+11Would've been funnier if this wasn't 2008 where Bush jokes are old.
Lame duck = lame joke - MrMuffinPuffin, on 07/13/2008, -1/+3Ummm... shouldn't only one ear be in view from that perspective of Homer?
- ChileanGoD, on 07/13/2008, -2/+11Can I add Mr. Hankey into the equation?
- brycehun, on 07/13/2008, -3/+2bahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahaha
I see it. The twinkle in W's eye - pakakapa, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1Mr. Hankey - Homer Simpson - John Wayne = Bush
- mecharabbit, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1"Hiiiiiiiiiii-dee-ho! You fellow Americans sure do smell a lot like flowers!"
- brycehun, on 07/13/2008, -3/+2bahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahaha
- drmangrum, on 07/13/2008, -4/+4Why insult John Wayne like that?
- lofispy, on 07/13/2008, -6/+1Buried for a lot of reasons, but mostly because it insults the greatest character ever....Homer Simpson.
- forceuser, on 07/13/2008, -3/+3Is that you John Wayne? Is this me?
- mdcraig62, on 07/13/2008, -0/+4Who said that? Who the ***** said that? Who's the slimy little communist *****, twinkle-toed ***** down here who just signed his own death warrant? Nobody, huh? The fairy ***** godmother said it. Out-*****-standing. I will PT you all until you ***** die. I'll PT you until your assholes are sucking buttermilk....
- rocannon, on 07/13/2008, -8/+1hey, we, as a nation, got what we voted for... twice!!
(btw, ** I ** did not vote for GW either time. ;-) ) - ATLien74, on 07/13/2008, -5/+5I look at Bush as more of a mix between Chim-Chim and Boss Hogg.
- Totz83, on 07/13/2008, -5/+1the thing *****, it sucks!
buried like the dignity of all 3 aforementioned reputations - poprocksandsoda, on 07/13/2008, -6/+7Do you really believe that people accumulate as much power as the President if they are ignorant? This isn't about who is dad is either. I know you think it's nice to paint a picture of our leaders as fools and buffoons, but the reality is much different and that stretches across party lines ... sans the House of course.
- rocannon, on 07/13/2008, -2/+3absolutely right... this is more about us as an electorate that it is about who's president.
as a nation, we have the government we want.- NonServium, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1No, as a nation we have the president the riggers of our voting machines want.

- NonServium, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1No, as a nation we have the president the riggers of our voting machines want.
- scrtyfrk, on 07/13/2008, -4/+2Well, he's not book smart, that for sure. I think he's more intelligent about people's emotions. Meaning that he can probably read people pretty well and that serves him better than that "book learnin'". He's a person that acts from gut instinct and not from external knowledge or deep thought necessarily.
- Niightwitch, on 07/13/2008, -1/+1I think you're crediting Bush with more depth of character than what's really there. To me, he's just an aging frat boy.
- booyahbitch, on 07/13/2008, -3/+4Two words sum up why Bush was elected... Money and PUPPET!!!! That man has NEVER been smart enough to be president. Cheney has his hand up Bush's ass and is using him like a ventriloquist!!!!
- rocannon, on 07/13/2008, -2/+3absolutely right... this is more about us as an electorate that it is about who's president.
- scrtyfrk, on 07/13/2008, -7/+8WTF??? He's NOT from Texas, people!!! He's from Connecticut. Just because he can fake an accent, it does not make him John Wayne.
- MadOgre, on 07/13/2008, -15/+24The continual Bush jokes are tired. We get it. It was funny the first time 7 years ago.
- PDAIsAOk, on 07/13/2008, -6/+2Hey what a second, that's OUR idiot they are making fun of..
- naokske, on 07/13/2008, -3/+2not that good...
- schultenick, on 07/13/2008, -6/+5this is an insult to John Wayne and must be buried imediately
- Whitmaniac, on 07/13/2008, -7/+1While I agree that the "dumb gunslinger" joke has absolutely been done to death, I find that I really need to keep hearing Bush jokes in general. I remember watching the Watergate hearings in my early "teens" with kind of a numb horror. I have that same feeling now as I read story after story of serious deception and manipulation at the highest levels of our government. Except this time the outrage does not seem to be accompanied by the proceedings that, no matter how painful they are to watch, serve to reassure us that we have the systems and institutions in place to bring justice to the rich and powerful. I stay sane by thinking of him as a buffoon who is simply incapable of learning or improving his performance. And of course a lot of us tell these jokes with a more of a grimace of pain than a chuckle of delight, knowing that by mocking him we are to some degree mocking ourselves and the system of government that many of us would like to believe is flawed but nonetheless better than any of the existing alternatives. While his first term might arguably have been a fluke, there can be little doubt that we received the government we deserved when we re-elected him ("we" as a nation, I mean). I may not have voted for him myself but perhaps I could have worked a little harder in my own neighborhood to persuade others of the impending disaster.
- sek52, on 07/13/2008, -2/+1tl;dr
- AmunRa666, on 07/13/2008, -5/+7John wayne is a ***** god, and homer simspons is a cultural icon. what the ***** is bush?
whoever made this picture deserves to have their balls ripped out and handed to them on a stick!- craznar, on 07/13/2008, -1/+0Well that makes sense - cause bush is a ***** up icon.
- mqduck, on 07/14/2008, -1/+0Bush is a cultural icon who wants to be God.
- wheresjim, on 07/13/2008, -3/+1Actually the Homer Simpson part is accurate, in that Sam Simon, the voice for Homer once said he initially based Homer's voice on a mix of Walter Matthau and George Bush Sr.
- nugz85, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2Dan Castellaneta is the voice of homer, but he did say he based it on walter mathau
