        I know white people can go there, but we both know the politically correct term doesn't mean much. The vast majority is comprised of (and expected to be) black students. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I highly doubt that affirmative action at "Historically Black Colleges" happens, as in recruiting white students because they don't have a diverse enough student body. This only happens at normal colleges - a guy I went to high school with penciled in on his SAT test that he was black, purely as a joke, and got accepted to a college in Southern Cali, and when he actually went down to visit the college and they discovered he was white, they rejected his admission. Hmm.

Seu Jorge is a Black Brazilian that was in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Only people in the US think any mention of the word Black in any context is racist. The rest of the world isn't so easily offended at nothing.

And that just wouldn't happen, would it. If we use the example of another entertainment industry, say films, then should we have sections labelled 'Jewish' films because they were made by jews? Or would that just be completely stupid and nonsensical? We don't refer to things that any other ethnic group has done in this manner and so we shouldn't do this with music either. BET, MOBO awards, in fact anything which wants to work in this way is simply irrelevant and divisive. You call rap rap, hip hop hip hop and soul soul. It is simply music.

I for one don't think this is a good way to deal with things.

I suppose in foreign countries they just aren't nuanced enough to call it R&B, Soul, Rap, or whatever euphemistic term we insist on using here in the states.

      but i really don't think that terms like R&B, Soul, & Rap are really euphemisms for 'Black Music', surely they are just straight forward terms to describe the genera? just as Country, Metal, Middle of the road are not euphemisms for white music.
