- mp3dog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+114My first guess is that it's done using a combination of reverse video, and very thin fishing line (notice the accomplice is always wearing long sleeves). Who knows for sure, though. Either way, there's obviously some kind of trick being used here.
- Samsong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+78OR magic.
- guywhodoesstuff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+69Do not try at home, one eyed Willy tried this, lost an eye. Now that his depth perception is all screwed he can hardly catch his monocle... Poor Willy.
- twangbender, on 10/12/2007, -2/+66its fake, but who cares? its still entertaining
- quoquo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+43that's an online guerilla Ray-Ban ad.
look for the "never hide" slogan on the back car window in the last scene. - kalleanka, on 10/12/2007, -4/+41Yeap, I completely agree, the most likely would probably be that they have a string from the glasses going to his hand, so the glasses start on him and are then pulled to his hand, while the video later on is played in reverse.
But who knows for sure, it's just a guess.
Anyway, dugg for a well made video. - Cwo655321, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30wow, that is much more interesting that the previous "Guy holds glasses with his face"
- socbret, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Look friends, visitors from planet youtube.
- Scopitone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Some of the best damn reverse acting I've ever seen!
- Gizza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Whether this is real or not I would put down the skill to the guy throwing the glasses more so than the guy catching them, he doesn't even do anything.
- rawkenshtocken, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19it's CLEARLY fake. though still very cool
- elcaminos, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18So what about the skateboard one? That looks like it wouldn't work backwards.
- ravan46, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19Dude.

Dude.... - buba447, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12A lot of those shots are actually two takes married together into one shot. If you watch the skateboard trick carefully (the one where they are both riding a skateboard) the focal length changes mid-trick. Just watch the background.
On the bridge trick, if you look carefully, the camera pans down before the glasses do and the glasses go out of frame, then drop back in. It would be easy to marry two shots in such a case.
Extremely well made though! Kudos! - edz0nk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13thanks quoquo

"Five up-and-coming independent film directors will have films in which Ran-Bans play a role seeded on Internet sites such as YouTube.com, MySpace.com and RayBan.com.
The words “Never Hide” also will be posted on mirrors in restrooms in hotels and bars.
“We are targeting adults ages 20-29 who like to try new things and are heavily engaged with magazines, the Internet and outdoors,” said Fabio d’Angelantonio, marketing director, Luxottica.
Budget for the effort was not revealed, but is estimated to be about $30 million. The company spent $6 million on ads last year, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus. " - itsmekirby, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Well in the car one, the car bounces after the bump, which means it couldn't have been reversing - at least for that one. Perhaps that segment used a different technique (considering its difficult to see into the car in that one) while the others might have reversed the vid.
- dhVyse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12It's a combination of camera tricks, slick edits, and in at least one take, reverse video.
Fake, though he may of been able to do it a couble times. - spencewah, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Fake
- PATSCRU, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10look at the end, "never hide" is written on the window, which is Ray-Ban's new ad campaign slogan.....this looks like another "corporate-viral" shill video.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This seems like an eye injury waiting to happen.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Disingenuine
- Tetranitrate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Thats funny because all I could think about while watching this was "What an ugly pair of sunglasses". Backfiring advertising FTW!
- Spikito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i dont know, seems fake, but in on the parking lot scene, where he flips it off the skateboard, you can see a truck moving forward in the background, if it really was done with reverse video, damn good job.
- SR388, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I love peach couble..
- COLDshiver, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Real neat video, but i'm not sure if it was real or not. The guy doesn't really move, that's what's bothering me
- motters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's amazing what you can do with video editing.
- JerodSlay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3IT DOESN"T MATTER. It's funny because it's fake, and they're all acting funny and *****. Like catching sunglasses with your face is the cool new thing to do. It's better that it's fake because it makes their reactions to it soo much more funny.
- iburyfamilyguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I totally believed this video. I was gonna say that the credit should go to the guy throwing the sunglasses and not the catcher. ***** it I said it anyway.
- Danjak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5What song is that in the background?
- escapeartist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you can tell the car scene is in reverse because BEFORE he hits the speedbump the car's suspension dives
- bluestick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2entertainment has gone from people who can actually do amazing things to people who can do amazing things to make it look like people can do amazing things. amazing.
- androothebear, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i wonder how many pairs of glasses it took to make that video...
- picardo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@elcaminos (#6571342)
That's the easiest to explain. They are facing the opposite direction of the direction skateboard is moving. So, my guess is they picked up speed, then the guy pulls off the shade from the other guy's face, and then he kneels on the skateboard. Reverse that sequence and it'll look like that. - superguysteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Congratulations everyone, yes its fake. Just shut up and watch it, its funny.
- pascalosti, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"this one is better:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsdFaON4_QI "
negative... - TheKingInYellow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1actually, all 5 of us came up with the concept immediately before shooting it. it took us a couple of hours to shoot and edit the whole thing. fun times.
- mikedpirone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you watch closely at the car one when the camera pans to the right, watch the guy who catches the glasses. He changes his position too quickly when going behind the tree or post or whatever that is.
- dumpling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2...come on.
- Cheddar79, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The one in the car is taken from two seperate takes. The long shot is played in real time but the speed he's going makes it impossible to see the glasses actually land on his head. Then as the camera pulls up to him you see he's wearing the glasses. In this take he's already wearing the glasses.
The second take is much closer and in reverse. The closeness makes it easier to fake as you can't see the wheels or anything in the background moving in the opposite direction. You can clearly see the glasses slide up his face (in reverse) as if they were being pulled off by something. Cool video and cleverly made! - itsnicetonoah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2that was not real
- wayne247, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1awful.
- ritzcracker, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1hey look its ben folds
- xqb4dpx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1how about watching this video because it's entertaining?
- dotMH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@freakout1 (#6588310)
Yeah totally! I wish I had this skill everytime someone throws sunglasses to my face... - theprez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WTF? Is the guy who made the video ten years old or something? What a piece of crap.
- yow1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2fake. entertaining. cool music. NEVER HIDE
- mongtiet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0man how you get this to be so popular!
- shortarabguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Explain to me what about this is not compelling. The guy catches sunglasses with no hands from different angles, distances, and speeds and he accomplishes several tasks( showing a truck going forward, using a car, etc...) which dismiss most possible ideas of how the trick was executed, including reversed video or strings.
I say that strings should be dismissed as a possible solution because you could never keep them taut with something like a car closing that much distance on you. It's just impossible to use that method. Reverse was also dismissed for previously explained reasons. I know some trick was used, but I can't see what it is. For that reason alone, that the trick is so well-hidden that one cannot see it, it is compelling. - freakout1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Fake or real, you have to admit it would be freakin' awesome to be able to do that whenever you want, lol
- TGIFriday, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Pretty obvioulsy fake, no question.
Yet somehow.........entertaining -
