- devinmurphy, on 06/23/2008, -3/+98Because of you, the ten commandments will forever be reduced to only two: Thou shalt always be honest and faithful to the provider of thy nookie. & Thou shalt try real hard not to kill anyone, unless of course they pray to a different invisible man than you.
- inactive, on 06/24/2008, -2/+88"When it comes to *****, big time major-league *****. You have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims... religion. Think about it, religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man… living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry for ever and ever 'til the end of time... But he loves you... He loves you... He loves you, and he needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing and all-wise, yet somehow, just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more, now, you talk about a good ***** story... Ho-ly *****!"
-George Carlin - chickcomedy, on 06/23/2008, -4/+38RIP man
you were comedy gold! - Jforsyth89, on 06/24/2008, -0/+33http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/3311/diggcarlin ...
- limpl0uie, on 06/24/2008, -0/+33This man changed my life. I say that with no exaggeration. The only reason I now work for a fairly prominent comedic website is because of him. I remember being about 9 or 10 and over hearing my mom and ant laughing hysterically, turned out they there quoting one of Mr. Carlin's older bits about drugs, "That's why we have drug problems in the country. Every four blocks there's another drug store. Keep walking...DRUUUUUGS!!."
Since then I've collected everyone of his HBO specials, all of his albums and his books are still the only books I've read more then twice. He's been a huge inspiration on me and countless others. Damn it, I hate to see him go.
But, if there is one thing that will always remain with me it is the memory of my senior year English class. My teacher saw I was reading "Brain Droppings." Turns out she too was a huge Carlin fan. She tried to express her love for his comedy to the class, but they didn't get it. She told the class about the classic "Seven words" bit...still nothing. She turned to me and began to say, "Luis, do you know what the words are?" before she finished the sentence I spat out "*****, piss, *****, ***** *****, *****, *****!" I've always been the class clown kinda guy but of all the stupid semi-clever things I've ever said in a classroom it was the words of George Carlin that got the biggest reaction. - radneg1, on 06/24/2008, -0/+30"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."
-George Carlin
RIP
:( - yohnstoppable, on 06/24/2008, -0/+24George Carlin was the first openly atheist entertainer I ever saw perform. It was pretty comforting seeing an intelligent, funny person who believes (or doesn't believe) the same things I do. Made me a lot more confident that I wasn't alone in a time where people kept shoving religion down my throat.
- ironeus, on 08/01/2008, -3/+23CLASSIC routines, great thinker, writer and performer!
- inactive, on 06/23/2008, -5/+24We'll never forget the 7 words, good sir
- dankenstein, on 06/24/2008, -0/+18I think the best possible tribute that Comedy Central could do for Carlin, would be to immediately cancel Carlos Menstealia's show so that he won't be stealing Carlin's jokes in a few weeks when he has run out of his terrible terrible material.
- brandonelliott, on 06/24/2008, -1/+13if i could digg this more than once i would.
- Gsicht, on 06/24/2008, -2/+14People like you make it so important that we do not forget this man.
- Cebo, on 06/24/2008, -0/+11Farewell George. You will be remembered beyond six weeks.
- yohnstoppable, on 06/24/2008, -0/+10I was referring to a point when I was in junior high and didn't know a single atheist. Was weird not believing in Christianity and feeling like the only person on the planet who felt that way. The internet wasn't exactly around, and there wasn't exactly digg/reddit which are overflowing with atheists.
I didn't need Carlin to confirm my beliefs, but seeing an intelligent, funny person who agrees with you on such a major issue is comforting. - LoveWidescreen, on 06/24/2008, -0/+10You say that as though that's a bad thing. As far as I'm concerned, 100 million is too few. The man was a breakthrough philosopher/comedian. There will never be another like him ... ever. He deserves as many compilation videos as his fans are willing to make.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dY4WlxO6i0 - Sairynn, on 06/24/2008, -0/+9dsa203: It's significant because he is someone who contributed something to society, and a lot of people were fans of his. Was he better than Mencia? Seriously? Have you even seen Mencia's comedy? Carlin was hilarious and insightful, Mencia is unfunny and suffers from "I'm a minority so I can say it and you can't" syndrome.
IdevInull: What did Carlin ever do to you? - osirislink, on 06/24/2008, -0/+8Great tribute. The world lost one of the good ones :( RIP George.
- duffy89, on 06/24/2008, -3/+9George Carlin was one of THE best comedians ever I love his humour, can't believe he's dead =(
- LoveWidescreen, on 06/24/2008, -0/+7Russert was a journalist. They always pander when one of their own goes; however, CNN and ABC had Carlin on the front page of their web sites all day yesterday. Even last night at midnight, CNN still had him as the headline on their web site. Right now, CNN still has him on the front page with a "Recalling Carlin" retrospective.
So, he might have been an honorable mention on the TV, but the web sites for the MSM was a totally different matter.
Requiescat in pace. - 1stJonnyDee, on 06/24/2008, -1/+7Doesn't even begin to sound a lot like anything. No matter what it is in life, there is always a need for comfort. Even if it is validation that someone else feels the same way you do. Piss off, "doctor".
- FlaG8r, on 06/24/2008, -2/+8"Good riddance George!" is much more offensive than all thing George Carlin ever said put together.
- ahmedb07, on 06/24/2008, -0/+6***** piss ***** ***** ***** ***** *****
- wdarling, on 06/24/2008, -0/+6Thanks for posting. I just spent the first two hours of my work morning listening to all these vids on headphones at work. I feel like I've just heard a long and very funny philosophy lecture.
- jeffstevens199, on 06/23/2008, -5/+9he will be missed.....

- Enjia, on 06/24/2008, -3/+7carlin was a athiest, so either he was right or he's going to hell.
- illdavey, on 06/23/2008, -5/+8RIP George, you rock.
- shyampoo, on 06/24/2008, -0/+4The Best of the Best has been laid to Rest.
RIP - OldManRivers, on 06/24/2008, -2/+5First Pryor and now Carlin. The two best comics of the last 40 years are no longer with us.
- DekarCorvus, on 06/24/2008, -0/+4He was just here a minute ago...
- johnbycz, on 06/24/2008, -1/+5George Carlin would respect your right to say and believe that, and then he would call you an *****.
- inactive, on 06/24/2008, -1/+5What routine are you referring to? There's about a dozen on that website. Of course that would have required you to actually visit the website to figure that out, ***** moron.
- DrummerAndrew, on 06/24/2008, -0/+4His words of wisdom will live on. If you don't 'get' his humor, do two things: 1) Watch it again. Just give it another try. Maybe you were a little too young or naive, or not jaded enough. He's funny, trust me. If you don't think so after really giving it a chance, move on to step 2) Kill yourself. It'll help the rest of us out immensely.
- ATLien74, on 06/24/2008, -0/+3One of the greatest comedians of all time, and one of the greatest minds of all time. I wish I could thank George for speaking the truth for so many years, he will be greatly missed but his words will live forever.
- emalen, on 06/24/2008, -0/+3please tell me you forgot your /sarcasm tag
- inactive, on 06/24/2008, -0/+3George Carlin, Sam Kinnison and Rodney Dangerfield are rocking the house at the great Comedy Club in the sky.
- Terasiel, on 06/24/2008, -0/+3My favorite quote I'd never heard before in that video? "***** has lost all of its original meaning. *****! It now means bad man, it used to mean good woman!"

- Spoomeister, on 06/24/2008, -0/+3I have never before, and probably never will be, as affected by the death of a public figure as I was by his. It's the day after I heard and I'm still a bit choked up at the thought.
The largest irony, of course, is that he's previously done routines lamenting exactly the kind of public mourning of celebrities that he's getting right now. :) Closely followed by all the people who are "keeping George's family in their prayers", given how much of an agnostic he was.
His eulogy / memorial service, by all rights, should just be all his routines on death and dying strung together.
"Thanks to euphemisms, I'll never die... I'll pass away. Or expire, like a magazine subscription."
"Just as in football, 2 minutes before you die, there's an audible... warning. '2 minutes. Get your ***** together.'"
"Somewhere, he's smiling down at us. ... You never hear, 'I bet he's down there now, screaming up at us.'" - jaydoj, on 06/24/2008, -0/+3Leave, just go. Pack up and leave.
- haterofps3, on 06/24/2008, -1/+3I found it funny not because he is dead but because this man effected my life, he made me question my own beliefs. I learned so much from this man and his humor and his ability to take something we all believe and turn it on its head.
I miss this man and will miss his incite into everyday life.
@Ivansusanin you are an *****! - Silentnite85, on 06/24/2008, -0/+2He believed strongly in the wisdom of Joe Pesci
