With audiences in your... say, lower intelligence bands, they focus on 'exposing' scams, rip-offs, scandals, etc. and the reporters usually chase after people and berate them for being rogues or scum. Generally they're all about "the degeneration of society'.

    I've always hated them. There's a comedy team in Australia called 'The Chaser' (a lot of clips of which are on the net) and they hate them too. They have a segment on their show 'Chaser's War on Everything' called "What we learnt from current affairs programs this week". It's hilarious.
